How Many Pokemon Has Ash Caught

It’s Aired Across Five Different Networks In America

Top 10 Pokemon Ash Ketchum Should Have Caught

Pokémon has been airing for so long that it makes sense that the landscape of television would also change a lot in that time. This leads to the anime moving around quite a bit. Many people associate it with starting on Kids WB, but it actually began in syndication on UPN affiliates briefly before its lengthy run on Kids WB. Cartoon Network would then become the anime’s new home from the ninth to 19th seasons. The Sun and Moon anime marked the start of the anime’s run on Disney XD. Currently, the latest Pokémon Journeys anime streams on Netflix.

Mewtwo Distrusted Humans & Erased Ash’s Memories

Mewtwo distrusts humans the most, and for good reason. After his creation, Mewtwo was tricked into working as Giovanni’s weapon. Angered by the fact that he was being used and the fact that he was just a clone of Mew, he created an army of clones free from the slavery that captured Pokemon experienced. Although he saw the good in people in the events of Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back, he still chose to erase the memories of the humans he came into contact with, including Ash, feeling he and his comrades would be safer that way.

It Has Many Episodes That Are Banned Around The World

It’s rather bittersweet that an anime that’s meant to appeal to kids has had so many episodes banned or censored. The biggest offenders of this are “Electric Soldier Porygon,” which caused seizures from the episode’s lighting effects, and “Shaking Island Battle!” and the “Team Rocket vs Team Plasma” two-parter were all canceled from airing because of natural disasters like earthquakes and tsunamis. Even more episodes have been banned in North America for cautionary concerns like the use of guns, increased sexuality, or inadvertent allusions to 9/11. Several Jynx episodes are also subjects of controversy due to the Pokémons original depiction.

Pokemon: How Ash Caught Something Rarer Than A Legendary Pokemon

Ash Ketchum finally caught a mythical Pokemon. Mythical Pokemon are rarer than legendary Pokemon, so how did Ash catch one before a legendary Pokemon?

In Pokémon, mythical Pokémon are so rare their existence is questioned, but when Ash adds his first mythical Pokémon to his arsenal, Pokémon the Series: Sun and Moon Ultra Legends explains how Ash caught something rarer than a legendary Pokémon. After 26 years of the wildly successful franchise, its finally revealed that Ash Ketchum caught his first mythical Pokémon before a legendary Pokémon. Both groups are considered extremely rare, but mythical Pokémon holds the title of the most elusive type of Pokémon.

Pokémon has extensive lore thanks to its multiple outlets of games, manga, show series, and movies. The rarity of mythical Pokémon originated from the games, where players could only catch a mythical Pokémon by obtaining the player in a real-life event and later opened more options with Pokémon Go by players catching Meltan and acquiring 400 Meltan candies to evolve into Melmetal. Along with the gaming aspect, mythical Pokémons existence is more of a rumor amongst the trainers due to limited sightings. Thats why it was a shock to the crowd in the Pokémon episode Final Rivals! where Ash reveals his first fighter as Melmetal in Pokémon the Series: Sun and Moon Ultra Legends.

Its Led To Over 22 Feature Films

The Pokémon anime has covered a lot of territory, but once it became more popular it decided to branch out into feature films that can tackle larger stories. Pokémon: The First Movie – Mewtwo Strikes Back was released in 1998 in Japan and it’s started a long tradition for the anime to showcase the series’ more incredible Legendary Pokémon in these cinematic showcases. To date, there are 22 Pokémon films with the 23rd, Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle set to release soon. There have also been two televised specials that tell larger stories, but aren’t exactly movies.

Where Does He Keep All The Pokemons

In truth, Ash captured some of his Pokémon because they let him. He released them after he befriended or assisted them. He also has no preference for any particular Pokémon. Though Ash generally acquires five or more Pokémon in every area, he rarely exchanges the Pokémon in his current party with those in storage at Professor Oaks Laboratory.

He usually only uses this when competing against formidable opponents or when attending events that need the use of a certain Pokémon . During Pokémon, the Series: Black & White, Ash actively cycled among the nine Pokémon he captured in Unova.

However, these Pokémon were held in storage at Professor Junipers lab in Nuvema Town while not in his party. After his adventure in Unova, Professor Juniper transported all of Ashs Pokémon to Professor Oaks lab. In the subsequent series, Ash did not employ this training technique. However, he did leave his Alolan party with Professors Kukui and Burnet after Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon.

In Pokémon: Volcanion and The Mechanical Marvel, Ash has no opportunity to capture the legendary Pokémon for half of the movie. This is because of the devices on Volcanion’s leg and around Ash’s waist. Whenever they are a certain distance apart, Ash is forcefully propelled to the other device, meaning that the legendary Pokémon was literally dragging the trainer with him where ever he went. Volcanion is also one of the few Pokémon that can speak the human language, and he spends most of his time voicing his distrust towards humans.

Was He Really The Best Like No One Ever Was

Ash Ketchum, the protagonist of the long-running Pokémon anime series, has been perpetually travelling the world, catching em all and being the very best. Whether it is his journey to beat every gym leader in the world, or his constant run-ins with Team Rocket, as long as there are new Pokémon, there will always be Ash Ketchum.

Invented as a sort of audience stand-in, Ashs journeys in the anime is designed to mimic our own experiences with every new game, region, and generation of Pokémon. Whenever Ash learns something new about Pokémon, the audience will learn them, too.

Its a great tool for kids who are getting into the series to really get a handle on the games mechanics and the sort of bond we should have with our digital pocket monsters.

That said, Pokémon is still mostly about creating the best team to tackle the gyms and Elite Four of every region, which Ash does with mixed results. Did he manage to do so through sheer will or did his Pokémon team help him through? Well, lets see how Ash devised his teams through every generation.

Generation I

Ashs first roster of Pokémon consisted of Pikachu, Butterfree, Pidgeotto, Bulbasaur, Charizard, and Squirtle. While it is a little overpowered that Ash has all three starters, the rest of the team was still largely made up of Pokémon that were easily found in one of the games starting areas, Viridian Forest.

Its Main Writer Leaves Over Creative Differences

The Pokémon anime has changed in many ways over the course of its lengthy run and its had different creative voices champion the series through different periods. Takeshi Shudo started as Pokémons leading vision and he wanted to create a more nuanced series that could entertain both children and adults. Shudo grew increasingly frustrated over the formulaic and episodic nature that was forced onto the series. Shudo was instrumental over the animes first 158 episodes as its story editor and still remained on for nearly 100 more until the regressive mandates, and Shudos own health, pushed him out entirely.

How Pokmon Training Works Outside The Anime

How many Pokémon of each Type does Ash own? | #WorldAshKetchumDay

Its easy to look down on Ashs performance. After all, he has lost so many Pokémon league tournaments that even The Pokémon Company International dedicated an entire article to his failures.

The comparison is even more bleak when stacked against competitive Pokémon trainers, who use every ounce of the communitys accumulated knowledge to reach skill levels that would blow the minds of the animes characters.

But before delving into that body of knowledge, its important to distinguish the two kinds of competitive Pokémon, which are very different.

The first is the competitive singles community, which pits teams of six Pokémon in battles just like you see in the games, with one Pokémon on the field at a time. These players mostly congregate at Smogon.com, a community and resource for Pokémon that groups monsters into tiers based on their usage in online battles. By dividing Pokémon up in this way, its easy to see who some of the lesser-used monsters can viably compete against, letting trainers know when they can actually use their weaker, but beloved, Pokémon.

Smogons tiers are unofficial, but they are the most widely recognized. The site also holds frequent leagues and tournaments that have their own specialized rules for trainers to test their mettle.

Worlds Most Okay Trainer

Ash is good at a lot of things, tricking people into giving him badges for common decency and meeting legendary Pokémon. What he is not actually good at is being a great trainer. With so much training under his belt, it should be easy for him to understand that raising Pokémon and battling them is work. Somehow, he doesnt even remember that.

Whether it is trying to get his pokemon to learn a move they arent able to, or using pokemon with huge type disadvantages against an opponent, he has to relearn everything every season. Even worse, he is connected to Pikachu in this one regard because Pikachu resets to level 5 at the beginning of every season as well.

A Rising Master: Kalos And Alola

After taking a significant step back in Unova, Ash finally starts to take competitive battles seriously. For the first time in his career, the only unevolved Pokémon on his team during the Lumiose Conference is Pikachu. Otherwise, it is stacked with powerful choices like Talonflame, Hawlucha, Noivern, Goodra and Greninja.

The only flaw in Ashs team is a slight over-indexing on flying-types , but he has certainly made worse mistakes. He more than makes up for this by unlocking a powerful and unique transformation for his Greninja.

Because Ash advances all the way to the finals, many of the early rounds are shown off screen. The first full battle depicted, against Sawyer in the semifinals, is fairly competitive. Ash losing his fighting-type Hawlucha to a normal-type Slaking is a knock against him, but Sawyers strategy, which revolved around taking damage and returning twice as much, was sound.

Ashs most impressive feat in this match is the way he uses the battle arena. After realizing Sawyers Aegislash needs some time to prepare its defenses, Ash orders Pikachu to toss a piece of a chopped up tree at his opponent to disrupt that preparation. The disruption gives Pikachu the opening he needs to land a big Thunderbolt and remove one of Sawyers most dangerous threats.

Jirachi Was Closer To Max Than Ash

Jirachi would not have particularly liked being caught by Ash in Pokémon: Jirachi: Wish Master. The Pokémon is only able to stay awake for seven days, which is when the Millennium comet appears in the sky. There also must be a best friend chosen by destiny nearby, which happened to be May’s brother, Max. These two characters got attached to each other quickly, and Max was particularly sensitive about his limited time with Jirachi since it had to sleep for another thousand years once the comet disappeared. It would have been cruel for Ash to catch it.
