Once the Pokemon have arrived in Pokemon Home, compatible Pokemon can then be moved back and forth between Pokemon Home and Pokemon Sword and Shield. Essentially, players can send their creatures to Pokemon Home on the Nintendo Switch, from where they can be used in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. However, it is a one-way transfer and you won’t be able to get your Pokemon;back.
As described on the official Pokemon support page, Pokemon Go and Pokemon Home can be linked together. Players will need the mobile version and the Nintendo Switch version of Pokemon Home, both of which need to be linked to the same Nintendo account, in order to transfer creatures to Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield on the Switch. Also, you will need a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership to transfer Pokemon.
The Go Transporter can store up to 10,000 energy at once and players need to be at level 40 to transfer Pokemon from Pokemon Go to Pokemon Home.

As of today, Pokemon Go is now compatible with Pokemon Home. This is exciting news for Pokemon fans, because it greatly expands the number of monsters that can be transferred from Niantic’s popular mobile game to Pokemon Sword and Shield. It wouldn’t be Pokemon if there weren’t a lot of hoops to jump through, though, and Pokemon Go throws up quite a few barriers to getting your beloved Shiny Groudon over to the Nintendo Switch.

As of right now, if you want to complete a transfer from Pokemon Go to Pokemon Home, you need to fit the following requirements:
- You have to be Level 40 in Pokemon Go
- The “Go Transporter” item must have a sufficient amount of energy
- You must have already caught the Pokemon in Pokemon Sword and Shield, so you can’t use Pokemon Go to fill your Pokedex
- Mega Evolutions, Shadow Pokemon, and unique costumes can’t be transferred
Those are some pretty onerous restrictions, making it effectively impossible to transfer your entire collection over to Pokemon Sword and Shield in one go. Indeed, as someone currently trapped at Level 32 in Pokemon Go, I’ve yet to be able to access the feature at all. Alas, poor Shiny Dragonite, you appear to be doomed to remain trapped in the purgatory of Alameda, California.

Why Should I Link Pokmon Go And Pokmon Home
Even if you haven’t used Pokémon HOME yet, you’re still going to want to link an account to your Pokémon Go account for two reasons: Melmetal and Meltan. The Mythical steel types, Meltan and Melmetal are the only Pokémon to be introduced outside of the core games and animation, having been introduced specifically in Pokémon Go. However, outside of a single Special Research line, the only way to get Meltan was by linking a Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Let’s Go, Eevee! game to your Pokémon Go account and transferring Pokémon there.
Now, by linking your Pokémon GO and Pokémon HOME accounts and transferring a Pokémon, you will get a Mystery Box in Pokémon Go and a special Gigantamax Melmetal in Pokémon HOME. The Mystery Box can be opened to lure tons of Meltan for one hour and can be recharged in three days by transferring another Pokémon. The Gigantamax Melmetal can be transferred to Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield where it will be able to Gigantamax to take on some of the toughest fights.
Pokmon Home Transfer Moves
You can only transfer Pokémon from Sword and Shield, Lets Go, Pikachu, Lets Go, Eevee, and Pokémon Bank into Pokémon Home.
Deposited Sword and Shield Pokémon can be retrieved from Home, but Nintendo notes that Lets Go, Pikachu and Lets Go, Eevee Pokémon cannot be returned when moved to Sword and Shield.
As for Pokémon Bank, you must be enrolled to the Premium Plan for it to be compatible. Nintendo warns that Pokémon moved from Bank to Home cannot be returned.
Pokémon Go is an obvious absentee from the list of compatible games, but you can least transfer its Pokémon to Lets Go, Pikachu and Lets Go, Eevee.

The Thing To Consider Important:
The resume transfer option may no longer operate if the app becomes disconnected when transferring Pokémon to your Nintendo Switch console. Its also feasible that the app that caused the problem will no longer work with any Nintendo Switch games. There was quite a bit of new information about Pokémon Sword and Shield revealed at E3 2019, but one detail regarding Pokémon Home is problematic.
Pokémon Home was announced in May during the Pokémon conference in Japan and is the replacement for Pokémon Bank. It will allow trainers to transfer Pokémon from the 3DS games, Pokémon Go and Let’s Go to Pokémon Sword and Shield.
Director Junichi Masuda came on the Nintendo Treehouse Live stream following the Nintendo Direct at E3 2019 on Tuesday to explain a little bit more about how Pokémon Home works. He says the team has decided to allow only Pokémon found in the Galar region to be transferred to Sword and Shield and deliberated for a long time about which to make available.
Of course, this brings up a big problem. With more than 800 species of Pokémon in existence, not all of them will be in Sword and Shield. That means Pokémon bred and raised for competitive battles, or Shinies, will essentially be left behind.
While we don’t know all of the Pokémon that will be a part of the Galar region, the fact that trainers won’t be able to bring some of them to the new console seems short-sighted. Perhaps The Pokémon Company will bring an update down the line that will allow for all of them to be transferred, but for now the cold hard truth is that some won’t make the leap to the Switch.

Pokémon Go players have eagerly been waiting for the chance to transfer their favorite Pokémon into Pokémon Home and potentially receive Pokémon from their favorite games. When the Pokémon Home service initially launched in February, Pokémon Go could not connect with the online service. Niantic and The Pokémon Company had a bit of work to do before this happened. Both companies have promised that a feature would be arriving before the end of 2020, and we have a few more details about it.
You need to use the new Transporter system added to Pokémon Go. Right now, it appears only trainers who have reached level 40 are able to use it. This may change. There is an option underneath the settings section that says Pokémon Home. Click this, and you can connect to it.
It looks like players will need to connect their Nintendo accounts, which makes sense. The Pokémon Home application works on iOS, Android, and Nintendo Switch devices. You probably want to use your Nintendo Switch while you send them over from your Pokémon Go account because it might be difficult doing those both from the same mobile device.

After you’ve transferred a Pokemon from Go to Home for the first time, you’ll receive a special gift: a Melmetal that’s capable of Gigantamaxing. To claim the Pokemon, open the mobile version of Pokemon Home, tap on the menu button on the bottom of the screen, and select Mystery Gift. You’ll find the special Melmetal waiting in your Gift Box.
That’s not the only present you’ll receive for transferring a Pokemon; you’ll also get a Mystery Box in Pokemon Go . The Mystery Box is a special item that causes Meltan to spawn in the wild for a limited time, making it the only way to catch the Mythical Pokemon.

If you transfer 25 of the same Pokemon into the Go Park from Pokemon Go, youll be able to enter the Play Yard for that specific Pokemon and unlock a secret mini-game thatll earn you candy for that critter. From what weve seen so far, theyre all rather adorable, but it might take a while for you to unlock them all especially as you cant count any of the Pokemon youve caught in Pokemon Lets Go towards that 25 total. Its Pokemon Go transfers only.;
Also, all 25 Pokemon have to be physically in the Go Park at the same time to access the mini-game. They dont all have to be in the same Park though.;
