The Plot Of The Pokemon Anime
Pokemon follows the adventures of a young boy named Ash Ketchum. He journeys the world with his partner Pokemon, Pikachu, seeking to become the greatest trainer there ever was. He commonly partners up with characters from the mainline games, letting fans experience a deeper connection with Ash than most anime protags. Kaina Of The Great Snow Sea
Polygon Pictures, the anime studio behind Blame! and Knights of Sidonia, reunites once again with manga author Tsutomu Nihei for a new original anime, Kaina of the Great Snow Sea. Described as boy-meets-girl high fantasy, the series is set in a postapocalyptic world where the Earth is slowly being consumed by a sea of snow and humanity ekes out a life in the canopies of giant Orbital Trees that reach up high into the sky. Kaina, a boy living in the Orbital Trees, meets Liliha, the princess of a small country located in the snow sea, and together the two embark on a journey to uncover the mysteries of the past in search of humanitys future.
Hiroaki Ando is directing Kaina of the Great Snow Sea, while Sadayuki Murai and Tetsuya Yamada are co-writing the series scripts.
Kaina of the Great Snow Sea premieres Jan. 11 and will stream on Crunchyroll.
The Free Option For Frugal Fans
At the moment, the Pokémon anime is most readily available in three places: Netflix, Prime Video, and the Pokémon TV app. However, none of these has all 1000+ episodes of the long-running show. The Pokémon TV app is the best place to start, and thats because, unlike Netflix and Prime Video, its a free service. You can download the app on your phone or tablet through both the iOS and Android app stores, but if you want to watch the show on a TV there are options there, too. This means it skips over the entirety of the shows Hoenn and Sinnoh arcs, and theres more skips to come as we keep going. And those arent the only missing seasons there are to contend with. In total, Pokémon TV app has 10 out of the shows 25 seasons broken up into three distinct blocks: 1-2, 10-12, 20-24.

Nier: Automata Ver 11a
Nier: Automata is finally getting an anime! Directed by Ryouji Masuyama , Nier: Automata Ver. 1.1a will be a retelling of the story of 2B and 9S, two android soldiers in war to protect humanity from an army of alien robots in a postapocalyptic future, albeit with some notable divergences from the game.
What kind of divergences, you might ask? Well, youll have to watch the series in order to find out! Yoko Taro, the director of Nier: Automata, will be consulting on the anime, with studio A-1 Pictures producing the adaptation in partnership with Aniplex.
Nier: Automata Ver. 1.1a premieres in Jan. 7 and will stream on Crunchyroll.
Bringing The Big Screen To The Small Screen
While much of Ash and Pikachus adventures aired on television, the duo has also starred in over 20 movies over the years. Almost all of these are available through Amazon Prime. Some are available as part of a Prime subscription, while others require a rental or purchase. Notable omissions include Pokémon Heroes and Pokémon: JirachiWish Maker, but the rest of them are all available through the service. JirachiWish Maker can be purchased on Vudu, for some reason. Heroes is almost nowhere to be found through official means, except on Manga TV, according to Rokus site. As a Latias fan, this feels like violence toward me, specifically.
One thing to keep in mind, however, is that Netflix has the Secrets of the Jungle movie and the 3D animated remake of The First Movie available to stream right now. So dont rent or buy them if youve got a membership over there.
