After ten years of Game Boy Pokémon catching and battling, the core game mechanic still holds up as an addictive game design — tons of strategic depth and gameplay that’s incredibly rewarding it’s one of those games that offers an enormous sense of accomplishment for even the littlest things performed. And the touch screen functions of the Nintendo DS help move things faster and easier with simple navigation menus. The developers more capitalize on the system’s capabilities in function and interface rather than visual and audio presentation. Sure, there are elements going on here that couldn’t be done on the Game Boy Advance, but it’s hard to argue that the game looks and sounds a heck of a lot like the past portable versions. 8-bit limitations drove the game’s original style, but now that the limits are no longer there it’s a little bit of a letdown that Game Freaks played the whole Pokémon production conservatively instead of pushing something more epic. Wild Encounter Rate Changes
In source code leaks from 2020, certain dates have been found to be able to modify the encounter rates of Pokémon found in the overworld by walking. This adds directly to the base rate of an encounter with Pokémon by walking on that map each step. The value cannot increase beyond 100%. The dates that modify these values correspond to holidays and events some of these increase the rate of finding wild encounters, while others decrease it instead.

Whether you played the original instalment or if this is your first time visiting the Sinnoh region, you’ll discover a host of new and reworked features in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
Let’s begin with the Pokétch – if you played Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, you’ll remember that the Pokétch lived on the Nintendo DS’ bottom screen. Since this is impossible on the Nintendo Switch, you’ll now be able to call up the Pokétch whenever you need it.
The Pokétch still retains all of its original features, such as the Memo Pad, clock, Dowsing Machine and the very useful Friendship Checker.
The major change to the Pokétch, however, is connected to how Hidden Moves works in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Rather than creating a HM slave, you’ll be able to use the Pokétch to call upon wild Pokémon to perform moves like Cut, Surf or Rock Climb.
The Underground from Diamond and Pearl has also been reworked into the Grand Underground. You’ll still be able to excavate the walls for items like fossils, build a secret base and play alongside other players in the Grand Underground, but there’s a new feature for you to enjoy – the Pokémon Hideaways.
Pokémon Hideaways are special environments in the Grand Underground where different Pokémon live – some appear naturally in the Sinnoh region, others don’t. Try experimenting with different Pokémon statues in your secret base, because they seem to have an effect on which Hideaways you encounter.

As mentioned briefly above, ILCA has not yet confirmed whether the Sinnoh remakes will also feature Pokemon Platinums Pokedex. In 2008, the third Gen IV title considerably overhauled the base game and expanded the total mon from 151 to 210.
After the trailer made its debut back in February, eagle-eyed fans spotted NPCs and overworld changes that were not in the original 2006 release, so anything is possible. It would be pretty shocking for them not to include Giratina, though.
The Gen IV titles are fairly balanced in terms of the exclusives offered in each one. Diamond, for instance, has Scizor with 500 base stats, whereas Pearl has Pinsir with the same point total. Similarly, Salamence and Tyranitar also match up equally when it comes to power.

The version-exclusive Pokémondont make too much of a difference for fans who arent picky about them, but competitive players will want to make sure they get the Pokémon with the best stats possible. Shieldon and its evolution, Bastiodon, have some of the best Defense stats in the game. On the other end of the spectrum, Cranidos and Rampardos have some of the best Attack. For fans who take the games seriously, choosing between Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl may come down to the numbers rather than the actual Pokémon.

Pokmon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl: Fossil Exclusives
There are some pokémon in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl that youll be able to add to your team by reviving them from Fossils found in the games’ Grand Underground area. While previous Pokémon games have let the player choose between fossil pokémon, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl do things a little differently and there are two which are version-exclusive.
Those playing Brilliant Diamond will be able to revive the Rock-type Cranidos from the Skull Fossil. They can then evolve Cranidos into Rampardos.
Players of Shining Pearl, meanwhile, will have exclusive access to the Armor Fossil which revives the Rock/Steel-type Shieldon. They can then evolve Shieldon into Bastiodon.
Dialga Narrowly Beats Out Palkia In The End
Both of these Pokémon are easily some of the strongest in Pokémon Diamond & Pearl, but Dialga ultimately ends up being the stronger option. As a Dragon- and Steel-type, Dialga ditches its weaknesses to Dragon, Fairy, and Ice-type attacks, and its Steel-type moves are effective on those Ice and Fairy-types. Dragons are typically weak to these types, so being a Dragon without any of the common weaknesses of a dragon is a unique attribute that shouldnt be overlooked. Palkias Water and Dragon typing is also quite strong, but hes still weak to fairy and dragon moves, which makes him vulnerable to the same things as a typical dragon.
Both Pokémon have access to the Pressure and Telepathy abilities, which double the usage of the enemys PP and eliminate damage caused by allies respectively. They share a gargantuan base 120 Attack and base 150 Special Attack stat, which allows both of them to annihilate foes with moves like Outrage and Draco Meteor. Palika is slightly faster, but Dialga has a little more health to make up for it. No matter how you slice it, both of these legendary Pokémon are absurdly powerful forces to add to any team, but Dialgas typing gives it the slight edge over Palkia.
