Can You Catch A Shiny Skitty In Pokemon Go

Skitty is a fairly common Pokemon that has been featured in numerous events in Pokemon Go. It even had a spotlight hour where it was very nearly the only thing that spawned. The question is: Can you catch a shiny Skitty?

Shiny Skitty has, in fact, been released. Specifically, it was added to Pokemon Go during the Hoenn themed portion of 2020s Throwback Challenge. Though the developers have never released hard numbers regarding the shiny rates of wild Pokemon, research suggests that the average rate is around 1/500, give or take about 50.

With those odds, you might be hunting for a while. Fortunately, its likely that sooner or later, Skitty will have its spawn rate boosted in an event, making it much easier to find in the wildpotentially as a shiny Pokemon.

Another way that trainers often attempt to hunt for the shiny form of a given Pokemon in Go is by finding a nest where you can potentially find dozens of that specific Pokemon at a time. Regrettably for players seeking a shiny Skitty, it doesnt nest, so dont bother looking for one.

In some cases, events can even boost the shiny rates of Pokemon, though this is rare outside of community days. In addition, Skitty probably isnt first in line to receive a community day any time soon.

So can you catch a shiny Skitty in Pokemon Go? Yes, but only about one in five hundred catches of the cat-like Pokemon will appear in its shiny form.

The third leg in the month-long Pokémon Go events is about to begin and trainers will transport themselves to the Hoenn region for a new list of tasks and rewards.

The Hoenn Throwback Event will begin this Friday and will be similar to the Kanto and Johto events in previous weeks. Pokémon from the Hoenn region will appear more frequently in the wild including Seviper and Zangoose, both who are region exclusives.

Raid Battles will be populated by Pokémon from the Hoenn region and 7km Eggs will have a higher probability of hatching ‘mon from the third generation games. Niantic has confirmed the following Pokémon will hatch more often from 7km Eggs: Lotad, Slakoth, Nincada, Skitty, Sableye, Mawile, Trapinch, Feebas, and Clamperl.

The Legendary Rayquaza was voted as the most popular Pokémon from the Hoenn region in this year’s Pokémon Day vote, so Pikachu wearing a Rayquaza hat will start appearing in the wild.

Capturing A Shiny Skitty In Pokmon Go

Players can use Pokémon GO items they already have during the event to further increase spawn rates, increasing the number of Skitties and encouraging a Shiny to spawn. Players should also strategize and make sure not to waste time catching other Pokémon during this event. Here are the main strategies to use during Skitty Spotlight Hour.

    • Incense: Incense increases the spawn rate of all Pokémon in the area. During Spotlight Hour, this will also increase the spawn rate of Skitty. The more Skitty that spawn, the better chance players have of finding its Shiny form.
    • Lure Modules: Similar to the Incense item, players can use this to increase the spawn rate of all Pokémon. The neat part is that players can use this item with a friend or other players to help them with their hunt. Duos can split up the responsibility of using Lure Modules to maximize how many Skitties spawn.
    • Run: If a Skitty isn’t Shiny, just run away and encounter the next one. Players only have an hour to encounter a Shiny Skitty, which isn’t that much time. Run to save time between encounters.
    • Fast Catch Trick: Players looking to earn XP and double the candy can adopt the Fast Catch Trick. This will skip the capturing animation and save tons of time between encounters, while also giving players rewards for successfully catching the Pokémon.

Pokémon GO is available now on iOS and Android.

Not Yet In The Game Numel

Shiny Skitty Spotlight Hour | Pokémon GO

Numel is one of the Pokémon that many might forget exists at all if it doesn’t spawn commonly where they are. However, this Fire-type will be in the spotlight a bit more very soon with the release of Mega Evolutions, as Camerupt is capable of Mega Evolving.

Hopefully this brings the shiny form with it, as Camerupt has an amazing shiny form. However, they’ve held off on releasing these two as shinies thus far, not even with the announcement of a Numel Spotlight Hour in June.

Ok Fine Just Tell Me How To Catch ’em All

First, you have to find as many Pokémon as you can. That means finding spawns or nests where those types of Pokémon are common. Then tap, tap, tap away and see if you encounter a Shiny.

For eggs and babies, collect as many as you can. Walk as much as you can. And hatch, hatch, hatch.

For the Raid Pokémon, the story is the same. Find the Raids. Beat the Raid Boss. Hope the one you get is Shiny.

Field Research. Find the tasks that give you a Pokémon with a Shiny form, then work with your community to find the PokéStops giving away the right tasks, and then complete as many as you can.

Shiny Field Research Pokémon have a 0% flee rate, but for everything else, remember your basics:

  • ABC. Always be curving. Once you can nail Curve Ball every time, you’ll get a 1.7x bonus every time.
  • Max out your medals. Some are easier to get than others but they consume no resources like Great or Ultra Balls or Razz Berries, so once you get them, that 1.1x to 1.3x is automatically applied each time.
  • Consistency counts. Aim for the smallest target you can nail every time. If that’s Nice, it’s nice. If that’s Great or Excellent, even nicer. But better the bonus you get then one you miss, and that extra 1.3 to 2x also doesn’t consume resources and can make a difference.
  • Razz for real. Use Razz Berries when you need to. Unlike Great or Ultra Balls, you can’t miss with a Razz Berry and its 1.5x bonus will last until you hit. For the new Golden Razz Berries, it’s 2.5x!

How To Find Shiny Skitty In Pokmon Go

Skitty is getting its own Spotlight Hour this September in Pokémon GO. This guide will show players how they can find and capture this Shiny form.

Players will have an increased chance to encounter Shiny Skitty in Pokémon GO this month. While Skitty has been in the game since the main release of Hoenn region Pokémon back in 2017, its Shiny form wouldn’t be added to the game until three years later in 2020 during the Throwback Challenge. Pokémon GO does not have every Shiny Pokémon available in the game. Many of these Shiny forms are added during a special event or a Community Day. Shiny Skitty can be caught randomly at any moment, but there is an upcoming event that will make it a bit easier to encounter.

Skitty will have its own Spotlight Hour event on Tuesday, September 21 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time. During this time period, Skitty will have its spawn rate drastically increased. Players will be able to earn double the amount of candy for capturing Pokémon during this time. Spotlight Hour does not change the Shiny Odds, which remain one in 500, but it does make it easier to encounter a bunch of Skitty, and therefore, Shiny Skitty, at a time.

This Pokémon GO Skitty Spotlight Hour offers players the best chance to encounter a Shiny Skitty. There are a few things players can do to increase these chances even further and make the most of the hour.

Where to find Skitty In Pokemon Go

Nincada is one of the most gimmicky Pokémon, technically evolving into two other Pokémon simultaneously Ninjask and, if certain conditions are met, Shedinja. However, Niantic did not introduce them this way, instead reserving Shedinja for a Field Research Breakthrough reward.

Even though it has been separated from its pre-evolutions, it is still a member of the Nincada evolutionary family. Yet, they failed to release its shiny version alongside Nincada and Ninjask.

Can Skitty Be Shiny In Pokemon Go

    By Jack O’Dwyer | Sep 21, 2021

Skitty is the featured Pokemon for this week’s Pokemon GO Spotlight Hour featureâso shiny hunters should take note.

This Hoenn region native tends to be popular among cat lovers for its feline-like appearance and mannerisms. Others seem to enjoy it for its cuteness factorâafter all, what could be more adorable than a soft pink carefree kitten? It is a pure normal-type and evolves into a larger catlike Pokemon, Delcatty, when given 50 candies.

Trainers will be able to encounter Skitty in increased numbers from 6 to 7 p.m. local time. Each capture will reward double the catch candy.

When And How Every Shiny Was Added To Pokmon Go

Magikarp and Gyarados: The first Shiny Pokémon in Pokémon Go were Magikarp and Gyarados in March 2017 which were a callback to what was, for most players, the first Shiny they ever caught: the Red Gyarados at Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal’s Lake of Rage.

Shiny Pikachu: August 2017’s Pokémon Go Park event in Japan revealed the second set of Shinies.

Those within the event radius had a chance of catching a Shiny Pikachu, which much like the Red Gyarados, could also be evolved into a shiny Raichu.

These have since been made available around the world, and was expanded on with a shiny hatted Pikachu as part of the 2018 Pokémon Day.

Shiny Gen 3 Ghosts: As the Halloween event in 2018 – which introduced the first Gen 3 creatures – rolled on, shiny variations of all five new creatures started to appear.

Here is a video of shiny Duskull in action:

Shiny Gen 3 Raids: With the arrival of 50 Gen 3 creatures in December 2017 came two Raid-specific catches, both of which offering Shiny versions. The remaining 48 also have Shiny models in the game code, though none have been found so far.

    Tom Phillips

Otherwise, there are no other signs more Shinies will be added. The main games had shinies for every single creature, so there’s a chance every one in Pokémon Go will offer them at some point, but it makes sense Niantic would want to drip feed them for special occasions and make them more of an event.

    Meanwhile in 2019, we’ve seen:

How To Find Shiny Pokmon Such As Shiny Magikarp And Red Gyarados Pokmon Go

SHINY SKITTY CAUGHT AND SHINY CARVANHA INCENCE DAY! (Pokemon GO)

Shinies are found by simply trying to catch Pokémon and seeing if they display as an alternate colour in the battle and post-battle screens.

They won’t appear as a different colour in the field, so you have to attempt to catch them first.

They of course can also appear in anywhere you’d find a Pokémon, not just the wild – so that includes hatching Eggs, Research task rewards and Raid bonus challenges.

A Shiny creature is extremely rare, so it’s simply a case of checking every one you are looking for – such as Magikarp – in the hope it will be a different colour.

Often, the variation is somewhat subtle. You can see the difference in Magikarp in the above comparison image, courtesy of Silph Road subreddit user skinnysnorlaz.

    Typical Boosted Event Spawns

Straight forward. Is there an event on? if the answer is yes youll likely be seeing many of the same Pokémon in the wild despite the weather or time of day. Take the recent Team Go Rocket Takeover event for example, Ekans and Koffing released as shinies, plenty of those Pokémon around in the wild and plenty to shiny check.

If the answer is no, then ignore the above. typically, you have the highest chance of finding a recently released shiny during the seven days of the event. Boosted amounts of spawns mean more mon to click on, more mon to click on means more chances of getting that shiny.

Of course, you need to first understand that Random is Random and there is no real logic to it. I also must stress that you willcome across players that play for what seems like literally 5 minutes during an event and get every available shiny, and similarly, you will find people that play 4-5 hours or more a day and still dont have even one after a week of clicking thousands of them. This is just how random spawns work Im afraid. of course, the more things you click, the more opportunity you give yourself of finding something you want but it does not guarantee you will.
