UPDATE: The full guide from Niantic on how to transfer from Pokemon Go to Pokemon Home can be found below, however, it should be noted that only level 40 Trainers can use the system for now.

A message from Niantic confirms: “Level 40 Trainers can now send Pokémon from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME! Stay tuned as we continue to roll this feature out to more Trainers.”

ORIGINAL: Developers Niantic and the Pokemon Company have confirmed how they plan to transfer Pokemon Go to Pokemon Home.

For those that dont know what it is, Pokemon Home is a dedicated cloud service which allows trainers to store and transfer Pokemon from different games.

It means you can put your favourite Pocket Monsters together and make your perfect lineup, built from generations of hard work.

And it was announced just this week that Pokemon Go Home Transfers would soon be available to fans.

It should be noted that Pokemon being sent away to the Home cloud via the new Go Transporter, are making a one-way trip, as they cannot return PoGo after the transfer is complete.

There are also large limitations on how long it takes Pokemon to be transferred, and the amount of energy required to send certain Pokemon.

Can You Transfer From Pokmon Go To Pokmon Home

    Move Pokémon to Pokémon HOME

As of no, in February 2020, the answer is no. You cannot transfer creatures from Pokémon GO to Pokémon Home, as that feature has not been enabled yet. It is coming, and is even listed as coming soon in a lot of places, so you might not have too long to wait. There are many things we already know about the planned feature as well, such as the fact that transfers will be one-way. Once you move something from GO to Pokémon Home it will be stuck in that new ecosystem and cant be brought back. It can be moved to Sword and Shield though.

When it does arrive, youll want to know how to transfer from Pokémon GO to Pokémon Home. Theres no way to be certain, but given how the process worked for sending creatures to the Lets Go games, it will likely be the same. Youll connect your game to the Pokémon Home account or device, then open your box and select the character you want to send over and choose that option. This is just a guess though, as any new method could be implemented. With both apps working on the same device, it could be quite simple, though I wouldnt hold your breath for that.

So the answer to can you transfer from Pokémon GO into Pokémon Home is a no, but just for now. Give it some time and the feature will arrive and well break down exactly how to do it.

Transfer From Previous Pokemon Games Using The 3ds Pokemon Bank To Pokemon Home

This is a bit more involved than other steps in the process, due to the nature of having to handle and operate a 3DS.

But, if there are some Pokemon from pasts games that youd like to show off to friends more conveniently, Pokemon Bank may be a tool to consider.

In order to do this, youll need to have Pokemon Home on the Nintendo Switch and pony up for the premium version of the app. These can be purchased from in the app on either a monthly or year-long basis. Once thats done, youre ready to receive Pokemon to Pokemon Home from the 3DS Pokemon Bank.

On the 3DS, open Pokemon Bank, make sure it is up-to-date, and then select Move Pokemon to Pokemon HOME.

After this, go back to the Switch, select Move and then select Begin Move in order to generate a moving code for the transfer to be completed. This can also be done without a 3DS, as long as the player has their Nintendo account linked properly.

How To Transfer Pokmon From 3ds Games With Pokmon Bank

Transferring Pokémon from 3DS games – such as X and Y, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, Sun and Moon, Ultra Sun and Moon – requires the use of Pokémon Bank on 3DS, as well as access to Pokémon Home on Switch or on a smartphone during the move process.

First, get Pokémon Bank on 3DS. If you’re like us and you haven’t used your 3DS in a while, make sure the system firmware is fully up to date, allowing you to then download it.

If you’re doing this within the free Pokémon Bank window, you’ll receive a notification of the offer within the system menu, which contains a direct link to the Pokémon Bank listing in the eShop. Otherwise, go to the Pokémon area of the eShop to find Pokémon Bank there.

Next, make sure you’ve moved all the Pokémon you want from the supported games through to Pokémon Bank.

To move Pokémon from a 3DS game to Pokémon Bank, select the top-most option on the main menu. From there, this operates much the same as it does moving Pokémon in Home – by scanning the save files found locally, then allowing you to access them by dragging and dropping Pokémon between a box from the save file to Pokémon Bank.

Once your desired Pokémon are in Pokémon Bank, then select ‘Move Pokémon to Pokémon Home’ from the main menu. After the warning about it being a one-way trip, select the Pokémon boxes you want to move across.

Now, you need a Moving Key.

Note – you need a Premium Home subscription to use this, even during the free Bank promotion during Pokémon Home’s launch.
