Can You Trade Long Distance In Pokemon Go

What Is The Standard Pokemon Go Trading Distance

LONG DISTANCE TRADING AVAILABLE IN POKÃMON GO!

Pokemon Go Trading enables you to exchange your Pokemon with other people and make progress on completing the Pokedex. Trading should be in-person and in real-time so if you want to trade the Pokemon, you need to be in a very close range of your friend.

The normal range of Pokemon Gos trading is 100 meters, which means that the players friend will need to be within 100 meters to trade. Cause its not a very long distance so you only can be in the same apartment complex or the same building as another trainer. Dont expect to call your friend that lives across town and be able to trade with them. However, the trading distance is extended during special events, making it much easier to trade with friends across town. For example, the range was increased as recently as a holiday.

How To Trade Your Pokmon

You can add any other Pokémon Go trainer from anywhere in the world to your Friends list, provided you have their code. While you can send them gifts from wherever you are, to actually trade with them, you have to be physically close together the same goes for when you raid or battle a gym together.

Step 1: In order to initiate a trade when youre physically near a friend , open the Friend tab and select the person you want to trade with.

Step 2: Hit the Trade button in the bottom-right corner, then wait for the other person to connect.

Step 3: Pull up your Pokémon and pick what you want to trade, and Pokémon Go will tell you what itll cost you.

Youll also see a CP range of the Pokémon will change when the trade goes through. The range is affected by your trainer level and the level of whomever youre trading with so if theyre a higher level than you, their super-strong Pokémon will probably get their CP lowered as well as your Friendship level with that person.

Step 4: Select Trade.

Step 5: When you finish the trade, your new Pokémon gets a new, random CP level from within the range.

Youll also get something for trading other than a new Pokémon: candies. How many candies you receive from a trade is determined by where the Pokémon being traded were caught. The farther away you are from wherever the Pokémon was nabbed, up to 100 kilometers , the more candies the trade will dish out.

Pokmon Go Trade Evolution List And How Trade Evolutions Work

Before we get into the specifics of trading itself, let’s start with 2020’s big new feature – trade evolutions.

In the mainline Pokémon games, there’s a set of Pokémon that can only be evolved if they’re traded with another player. When Pokémon Go was released, these Pokémon were all evolved through candy, due to the lack of trading.

Now, however, trade evolution has been incorporated into Pokémon Go, offering a different evolution method for a specific group of Pokémon. These Pokémon are:

  • Kadabra
  • Phantump
  • Pumpkaboo

Once you’ve traded one of the above Pokémon, the candy cost for evolving them into their third and final evolution will be reduced to zero. This will allow you to quickly add this new Pokémon to your Pokédex, while also gaining a powerful new team member.

If you don’t have any fellow trainers to trade with, however, you’ll still be able to evolve these Pokémon with the candy.

It costs 100 candy to evolve Kadabra, Machoke, Graveler and Haunter from Gen 1.

It costs 200 candy to evolve Boldore, Gurrdurr, Karrablast and Shelmet from Gen 5.

It’s also important to note that Pokémon that evolve using a combination of items and candy in Pokémon Go don’t receive the trade evolution discount. Even though, in the mainline games, a requirement of their evolution is being traded with another player.

Trade Range Increase Test In Pokmon Go Explained

On November 12th 2020, Niantic announced that, for a short time period, the trade range distance in Pokémon Go would be increased and that, depending on the data they collected during this test, an increased trade range might be included as a bonus in future events.

The trade range distance has been increased to 12km, which means that you can trade with any of your Pokémon Go friends who are within a 12km of your location. This increased range was introduced on Thursday, 12th November.

Thank you to The Silph Road subreddit for figuring out this information.

This increase ran from Thursday, 12th November until Monday, 16th November.

Distance Trading Is Back

Last night Pokémon GO tweeted a surprise announcement that distance trading was back until 23rd November at 4pm PST! This was a real surprise as the 12km remote trading range only finished on 16th November, so it looks like Niantic are keen to test this new feature even further with larger distances. Hype!

The distance has been greatly increased to quote, and at the moment that distance is speculated to be somewhere between 38km and 50km, though reports vary currently. Report your findings in the comments and let us know how far you have managed to trade.

Now is a great time to safely trade with your fellow trainers and finally get some of those pending special and lucky trades done that we all seem to have a backlog of thanks to the pandemic. Special trades can still only be done once per day, but you can do as many lucky friend trades as you like until you hit that trade limit of 100 trades per day. Take this opportunity to clear out your bag space before Magmar Community Day this weekend, and reroll some of those rare spawns you have been saving.

This has not been mentioned on their blog or in the in game news, so be sure to spread the word within your local community so they can take full advantage of this increased trade range!

Prepare To Use A Lot Of Stardust

When you tap a friends portrait in your friends list and you have met the distance requirements, you will find the option to trade. Youll quickly notice that depending on the Pokémon you wish to trade with one another, however, the amount of Stardust youll be using to do so may be large.

To maintain the amount of trades and what Pokémon are sent between players, Pokémon Go requires a certain amount of Stardust for each trade depending on the type of Pokémon, as well as the friendship between the players. If both Pokémon being traded are in both players Pokédex, the trade will only cost 100 Stardust regardless of friendship level.

There are also Special Trades which further limit how much players may trade with one another, as well as exponentially increase the Stardust cost. These types of trades can only be done once per day. If both Pokémon are Legendary or Shiny and in both players Pokédex, or neither normal Pokémon is in either players Pokédex, the trade will cost 20,000 Stardust for Good Friends, 16,000 for Great Friends, 1,600 for Ultra Friends, or 800 for Best Friends. And if both Pokémon are Legendary or Shiny and are not in either players Pokédex, Good Friends will be set back a whopping 1,000,000 Stardust Great Friends 800,000 Ultra Friends 80,000 and Best Friends 40,000.

Trading is a bit limited.

You and other players have the opportunity to trade Pokémon with each other in Pokémon Go. Because this is a mobile game, its a bit easier to connect and engage in that trade than it was on handheld Nintendo products where you had to connect a wire to sync up. Even though Pokémon Go is a mobile game, there are some restrictions to how trading works, and one of those restrictions is the amount of distance between you and another player.

Whenever trading with another player, you have to make sure they are on your friends list. You cannot trade with random players in Pokémon Go unless you add them to that list.

How Long Is The Pokmon Go Trade Distance

Trading has been a recurring mechanic of the Pokémon franchise since the very first Game Boy games. Due to version exclusivity, there were some Pokémon that simply couldnt be obtained in a single game, so trading with a friend was the only way to complete the PokéDex . Thankfully, Pokémon GO doesnt have any version exclusivity, but trading is still a great way to pad out your Dex. The only question is, how long is the Pokémon GO trade distance?

Trading in Pokémon GO isnt like trading in the regular games, where you can just connect to the internet and shoot a Pokémon off to who knows where. As an AR game, Pokémon GO requires you to be in the same general vicinity as your trading partner, with only a little bit of wiggle room. This is to ensure that you cant complete any trading-related Field Research tasks while just sitting on your butt at home.

The funny thing is that a Pokémons stats are scrambled once its involved in a trade. Depending on the level of friendship you have with the person youre trading with, the stats are tweaked to be more or less than they originally were. This is a good incentive to putting friendship-building near the top of your priorities.

Interacting with other players in Pokémon Go often requires you to add them to your friends list, and this is no different when it comes to trading. Depending on the level of friendship that you have with the player you are trading with, you may receive extra bonuses, such as the opportunity to have the traded Pokémon become Lucky, which will allow it to grow much faster. Adding friends requires access to your Trainer Code, which can be found by accessing the Friends section of the character menu, then tapping Add Friend.
