New Regional Legendary Pokemon
Of course, its Pokemon. So you basically cant introduce a new buyable area like this without throwing in a Legendary or two as incentive. And in the case of the Pokemon Sword & Shield DLC, therell be two!
The first to arrive will be The Isle of ArmorsKubfu. Again, it seems like youll be training alongside this fighting-type Pokemon until you both reach your full potential. The difference between you, a human, and Kubfu is that the Pokemon evolves except this one has two fighting styles in its evolved Urshifu form. One is the Single-Strike Style, which makes it Fighting and Dark. The other is Rapid-Strike Style, which instead throws in Water as a type. Each has different appearances and Dynamax attacks, so its worth your time to choose wisely!
In the Crown Tundra DLC pack, therell be Calyrex, a Psychic and Grass type. It sounds like theres a story behind it: according to the Direct, it once ruled part of the Galar region that included the Crown Tundra region. We cant exactly explain why its still around in a wintry area besides old grudges or something, but hey! More Pokemon to catch, we guess.
Old Pokemon Returning In The New Sword & Shield Dlc
Here’s the hottest news of the day for hardcore fans – the DLC will usher in the return of a bunch of older Pokemon that haven’t yet appeared in the Galar Region and thus were absent from Pokemon Sword & Shield thanks to the decision to not include the national Pokedex in the game.
Pokemon you’ll be able to catch in thanks to these additions include the likes of Garchomp, Chansey, Magnezone, Horsea, Volcarona, Nidoran, Beldum and Crobat, just to name a few. In all, 200 classic Pokemon will make their return in the two DLCs that make up the expansion pack, with when each Pokemon shows up determined by where it’ll more naturally fit in to the new areas – some will appear on the Isle of Armor, while others will show up in the Crown Tundra. There will also be some version exclusive differences between Sword & Shield, as always.
Oh, and a good chunk of the 200 newly added Pokemon are legendary Pokemon from past titles – practically every classic legendary can be caught in the new zones of the DLC, be it through Wild Area style raid battles or through other means.
If you don’t want to buy the DLC, a free update is coming to the game, too. This free downloadable update will allow players to transfer in the 200 newly-added from other sources like Pokemon Go and the soon-to-launch Pokemon Home, which will let you bring in Pokemon from other past console titles if you so wish.
Will Brilliant Diamond Have Mega Evolutions
There has been no announcement regarding the inclusion of Mega Evolutions in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl. The original Pokemon Diamond and Pearl games did not feature Mega Evolutions, but neither did Pokemon Yellow yet its remakes Lets Go, Pikachu and Eevee! had Mega Evolutions as a feature.

You Can Only Choose 1
The above Pokemon are this DLCs version exclusives so in order to obtain them you will need to trade with someone else, catch a Max Raid hosted by another player, or transfer them from Pokemon HOME.
There are also Legendary Pokemon exclusive to each game found in , but as they dont appear in your Pokedex you dont need to worry about them.
Can I Have A Pokmon Follow Me In The Overworld
Yes! This is one of the most exciting things that wasn’t revealed before the Expansion Pass released. After completing Mustard’s trials on the Isle of Armor, players can have the first Pokémon in their party follow them around in the overworld. This is definitely something we wanted to see in the base Gen 8 game, so we’re happy to see it finally is possible in the DLC.

Why A Cancellation Could Be Good
Theres still potential positives to the cancellation of a third Sword and Shield DLC. Even though Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra were hits, its possible that Nintendo isnt satisfied with its work. It may be looking back on the reception of these games and concluding that it would be better off not putting all of its chips on Sword and Shield. Scrapping the last DLC would suggest a greater emphasis on making other Pokemon projects live up to expectations. Although a third DLC would have done a lot for Sword and Shield, Pokemon Legends: Arceus and other new projects might do more for Pokemon as a whole.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus isnt the only new game that could be coming out of dropping the last DLC. Nintendo might have realized that, the longer it supports the current Pokemon games with DLC, the longer it is before a new generation can come around. Nintendo might be itching to move on and plan a bold new generation of Pokemon games for the speculated Nintendo Switch Pro. Pokemon might have an easier time getting its footing back as a franchise in a new generation, rather than through Nintendo trying to patch up the current region.
Pokemon Sword & Shield Expansion Pass Release Date And Price
Okay, here’s perhaps the most important single piece of information about the upcoming Sword & Shield DLC, so let’s get it out of the way up top: the DLC will release in two parts, the first in June 2020 and the latter at some point in Autumn 2020.
We’ll talk more about the way the DLC is split in the next few headings, but just know that the Isle of Armor is the first new area, and will be available in June 2020. Then the Crown Tundra will release later on. The two DLCs offer two different areas with unique focuses and a variety of different Pokemon to catch.
The DLC is available for pre-purchase from the Nintendo eShop right now, and costs $29.99 / £26.99 for the pair. Because the two pieces of DLC content come as a sort of pair and directly relate to each other, it won’t be possible to buy just one of the two. It’s all or nothing!
There’s some confusion going around here because a Nintendo announcement mentioned the DLC being “$29.99 each” – but this refers to the slightly different versions of the DLC, as there’ll be one expansion pass for Sword and one for Shield. If you own both games, you’d have to buy both at $29.99 each to access the new DLC content for both games. If you just have one game, it’ll cost you one round of $29.99.

When Is Pokmon Crown Tundra Released
Our best guess is that the pack will drop around 5:00 on October 23rd here in the UK, which means that we know what we will be doing on our Friday now!
This is of course just an estimate, but with maintenance scheduled to roll out from 23:00 tonight that will conclude at 04:00, and then a downloadable update available just after well, all the signs are pointing to Crown Tundra being playable then.
Looking To The Future
All in all, there’s plenty of tradeoffs both positive and negative if Nintendo has decided to cancel the last DLC. Although there’s plenty that of fans who would be happy to linger in the Galar region a little longer, there’s a lot that the Pokemon franchise can gain by closing that chapter and moving on to a new region. For now, it seems like E3 will probably be Sword and Shield‘s last chance at a third expansion. If Nintendo doesn’t have anything to say about another DLC at E3, then fans will probably have to accept that Sword and Shield have come and gone.
Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield are available now on Nintendo Switch.

Do I Need To Buy The Expansion Pass To Access The 200+ Returning Pokmon From Past Generations
No, not necessarily. Following a free update that will launch alongside the Expansion Passes, players of vanilla Pokémon Sword or Shield will be able to trade those Pokémon with players who have purchased the expansion and caught them all. Therefore, it will be entirely possible to get your hands on those new Pokémon via trading.
Players without the expansion will also be able to bring Pokémon over from past games using Pokémon Home, the service which launched in February 2020 .

Is There A The Crown Tundra Map Leak
Yes, in the same sprawling datamine that created our returning Pokémon list, we also got a fully realized outline of the Crown Tundra’s map. It includes the flying waypoints that will be included in the final DLC along with normal waypoints. Altogether, this provides a fairly viable skeleton for what the final map could look like. You can see the full map here.
What Kind Of Gameplay Will Pokemon Sword And Shield: The Isle Of Armor Have
As with all Pokemon games, youll be given free rein in Pokemon Sword and Shield: The Isle of Armor to explore, capture, and battle Pokemon in Wild Areas. The storyline, as seen in the trailer, has you leveling Kubfu as you train at Mustards dojo. Youll eventually challenge either the Tower of Darkness or Tower of Waters to determine how Kubfu evolves into an Urshifu with Single Strike Style or Rapid Strike Style. You also have a rival: Klara, a Poison-type trainer for Sword players, or Avery, a Psychic-type trainer for Shield players.
If these details have you interested in purchasing the DLC now, you can get the Expansion Pass at the Nintendo Switch eShop for $30. Youll be paying for both The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra at the same time, but dont forget that different versions exist for Shield and Sword so choose the game you own.

What Time Does Pokmon Sword And Shields The Crown Tundra Expansion Release
You won’t need to wait long, but it’s a weird time.
Game releases on the Nintendo Switch arent an exact science. Just because something is supposed to release on a specific day doesnt mean that players will know what time they need to be ready to download their new title or DLC.
For Pokémon Sword and Shields final DLC, The Crown Tundra, fans still dont have a time for when itll be available for download. But we do have a pretty solid idea of when itll go live based on Nintendos support website and the Isle of Armors release from June.
Releases from Nintendo-published games go live at 11pm CT , according to the Nintendo Support website. But for recent DLC releases, such as fighters for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the window was expanded into the afternoon. Digital-only software is usually made available at 11am CT on the release date, but DLC is noted to never be added at a regular cadence.
The Isle of Armor DLC dropped at 9am CT on June 17, but it looks like trainers can expect a different timeline for The Crown Tundra.
Promo images suggest that the game will be released on Oct. 22 in North America, while itll drop on Oct. 23 in Japan and Europe. The DLC will still be a simultaneous worldwide release, meaning itll likely be dropping in the evening for NA players.
Based on that, its likely that The Crown Tundra will go live somewhere between 7pm and 11pm CT on Oct. 22.
What Is The Crown Tundra Release Time
Update: While the specific release time for the Crown Tundra DLC is unknown, the Pokémon Home app will receive an update from 19:00 ET on October 22nd to 00:00 midnight ET on October 23rd in the US its likely that the DLC will launch during this window.
The UKs time for updates has passed, so it seems that the DLC will not follow standard Nintendo practices.

How Much Does The Pokmon Sword And Shield Expansion Pass Cost
Parts 1 and 2 of the Expansion Pass are purchased together for £26.99 / $29.99.
Keep in mind that youll need to purchase the corresponding pass according to which copy of the game you own. If you own both games and want to access the new areas in both, that means buying both the Pokémon Sword Expansion Pass and the Pokémon Shield Expansion pass.
The safest way to ensure you get the correct one is to buy it through the in-game menus while playing your copy, but be careful to purchase the correct Expansion if youre getting it through the eShop directly Nintendo doesnt appear to be issuing refunds if you buy the wrong one.
Those who pre-purchased before the Pass arrived received an early purchase bonus of a Pikachu uniform and an Eevee uniform . If you bought the Expansion Pass before 31st August you could receive Leons outfit as a bonus.
The Nintendo UK Official Store has a deal on the Expansion Pass which includes a 50% discount on starter Pokémon soft toys or a starter mug if you purchase them at the same time.

Does Pokemon Sword And Shield: The Isle Of Armor Have A Release Date
Nintendo has said the DLC will be out by the end of , but no exact date has been announced. There are rumblings that the long-awaited expansion pack is about to be delayed thanks to COVID-19. Like everyone else, Nintendo employees are working from home, and industry watchers say the lack of a set release date could mean the development team at Game Freak is having trouble completing the project.
With so much expected of this downloadable content pack, an additional delay isnt going to make anyone happy. Its also possible that even if The Isle of Armor makes its window, its follow-up, The Crown Tundra, will be postponed from its fall 2020 release date. Either way, it sounds like The Crown Tundra, which was presumably less far along in development, may be more affected by the coronavirus shutdowns.
Not all hope is lost, however. The fact that Nintendo has already started the countdown through some in-game giveaways could be a sign its expecting to meet the deadline.
