The latest expansion for the Pokemon Trading Card Game is now available. The Pokemon Go expansion for the Pokemon TCG is inspired by the Pokemon Go mobile game, and it includes cards that feature artwork inspired by the game.

For instance, the expansion includes an Item card featuring a Lure Module, a Stadium card featuring a PokeStop, a Blissey card that pictures the pocket monster defending a Gym, and more.

Each product in the Pokemon TCG: Pokemon Go expansion includes one or more codes that can be redeemed for free items in the Pokemon Go mobile game. Check out our guide to learn how to redeem these codes in Pokemon Go.

Brilliant Stars The Second Newest Pokemon Booster Box

The second newest booster box is called Brilliant Stars. It was released on . If youd like to get a new Pokemon booster box, but you for some reason dont like Astral Radiance, you can certainly get Brilliant Stars instead.

One problem with this set might be that there arent that many powerful cards, as you might expect from some of the newest sets. However, if theres a card that can save a mediocre edition, thats certainly Charizard!

Theres two different Charizard cards here, and thats without counting the different art versions of a card. You can open both Charizard V and Charizard VSTAR in a Brilliant Stars booster box. You can see both of them below, in the iconic cards section. Youll notice that theres also Arceus VSTAR and Galarian Moltres, so therere certainly still some good cards besides Charizards.

The first of two rare and valuable Pokémon cards called No. 1 Trainer on this list, this particular card was awarded to winners of the regional Battle Road Spring tournaments held in Japan during early 2002.

The regional tournaments were held as qualifiers for the Pokémon World Championships, with the small number of No. 1 Trainer cards produced for the few winners making them some of the rarest Pokémon cards in existence.

Adding to the card’s rarity is the fact that each No. 1 Trainer card was customised with the name of the tournament winner printed onto the card, making each card one-of-a-kind. According to auction house Heritage Auctions, the personalised aspect of the cards also mean that they rarely appear at auction, making them an even rarer sight in the world of Pokémon cards.

The 2002 No. 1 Trainer card was illustrated by Ken Sugimori, best known as being one of the original artists and designers for Pokémon’s first generation of 151 Pokémon. The text on it reads: “The Pokémon Card Game Official Tournament Battle Road Spring 2002 champion is recognised here, and his honour is praised.” Sugimori’s No. 1 Trainer artwork – featuring fan-favourite Pokémon such as Pikachu, Chansey and Marrill – is exclusive to the card, making it especially unique.

Radiant Pokemon are shiny.Just don’t confuse them with other instances of the same thing. How Many Cards Do You Need To Play Pokmon Tcg

Each player has a deck of exactly 60 cards, consisting of Pokémon cards, energy cards, item cards and trainer cards.

Apart from energy cards, you cant have more than four cards in your deck with the same name.

How To Play The Pokmon Trading Card Game

The basic flow of play in the Pokémon TCG is relatively simple to grasp, but it involves a few steps youll need to learn before your first battle.

How do you start the Pokémon TCG?

At the beginning of a game, players can flip a coin to see who plays first. Then the decks are shuffled, players draw a hand of seven cards and the top six cards are set aside as prize cards you add one of these to your hand each time one you defeat an opponents Pokémon, and claim victory if you pick up all six before your rival.

Both players can place one basic Pokémon card facedown as their active Pokémon, plus up to five more basic Pokémon on their bench. If you don’t have any basic Pokémon cards in your hand after drawing your initial hand of seven cards, reveal your hand to your opponent and draw seven more hands. You can repeat this as many times as you want until you have at least one basic Pokémon – but your opponent gets to draw one extra card for every time you do.

How do turns work in the Pokémon TCG?

When each turn begins, the active player draws a card from the top of their deck if you run out of cards in your deck and can’t draw on your next turn, you lose.

During each turns second phase, you can do any and all of the following:

Attacking in the Pokémon TCG

After youve done the above, your active Pokémon can attack the opponent. The Pokémon can perform one attack listed on its card as long as the correct amount and type of energy is attached to the card.

One of only two such Pokémon cards in existence – making it extremely rare – this Blastoise suddenly became one of the most valuable Pokémon cards of all time after it sold at auction in January 2021 for a whopping $360,000 .

The ultra-rare Pokémon card was created in 1998 as a presentation piece by Magic: The Gathering maker Wizards of the Coast to convince Nintendo of Japan executives to allow it to handle the TCGs English-language release. The game would eventually make its international debut one year later in 1999.

While two Blastoise Presentation cards were produced, this is the only one that has been seen publicly. Even more impressively, it has been graded at a NM/Mint+ 8.5 level by certification website CGC, meaning that the 20-plus-year-old card is in near-perfect condition. The location and state of the other Presentation card remains unknown – meaning that this may well be the only such card of its type left.
