Designed by Masakazu Fukuda, Gold Star Pokémon cards depict the shining, alternative color variant of Pokémon cards that were not printed as much as the other trading cards. These Gold Star cards have a gold foil over the picture. The pull rate of the gold collectibles is only one per every two boxes.
Charizard cards have a shiny, holographic layer, with only 68 cards printed in Japan and 101 printed in the English expansion. One of those rare valuables sold for $25,400 at an auction by PWCC Auctions in 2021, graded by Professional Sports Authenticator GEM 10, Mint condition.
Rare Pokmon Charizard Card Sells For $336000

A rare first edition 1999 Pokémon Charizard No. 4 card sold on Thursday for $336,000 at auction.
The Charizard card, sold by Heritage Auctions, drew widespread attention because its from the games first English print run and had been given a perfect PSA GEM-MT 10 grading. Its one of only 121 to be given that rating, according to the auction house.
The sale was part of a larger trading card games auction, which included Magic: The Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. In total, the auction netted more than $3.7 million.
This auction, especially the trophy-level cards, did exceptionally well, Jesus Garcia, Heritage Auctions Trading Card Games consignment director, said in a statement.
This sale reinforced the fact that demand for Pokémon cards continues its climb. We fully expected Pokémon and Magic: The Gathering to fare well, and they did.
Since their introduction in the 1990s, Pokémon cards have made a comeback and have even sparked a sales frenzy.
Last week, a Georgia man was sentenced to prison for using Covid-19 relief funds to buy a Pokémon Charizard card, the US Department of Justice said in a release. He purchased the card for $57,789.
In February, Goldin Auctions sold a rare 1998 Pocket Monsters Japanese Promo Illustrator Holographic Pikachu card for $900,000. Goldin says it was an all-time record public sale for any Pokémon card.

At the Goldin auction in January 2021, this card but without a number , sold for a jaw-dropping $493,230. So much value for a victim of a production error. Pokeman made only thirty-one copies of this card, according to the companys records.

These holofoils are both incredibly rare and difficult to grade. PSA has seen just 79 of them and declared only 16 in gem mint condition. Currently, there is one on eBay listed for $10,000 or the best offer with 106 watchers.
Well have to see what the seller lets it go for. With only 16 in existence and the rising popularity of this set, I wouldnt let it go for anything less than $5,000.
Ex Dragon Frontiers Charizard Gold Star #100

There are 101 cards in the set, and only two rare Gold star cards are in the collection: The Charizard #100 and Mew #101. Chances of pulling one of these two cards in a pack of 144 cards are one to zero thats how rare its.

Topsun Charizard Blue Back No Number Error

As with the other Topsun cards mentioned earlier on this list, Top-Seika didn’t distribute them until 1997, even though their copyright date reads 1995.
And since they weren’t part of the official Pokemon Trading Card Game, they are considered more in the realm of novelty collectible cards.
Still, an early Pokemon card is an early Pokemon card…
And, whether you’re talking about the prism holos, green-backs, or blue-backs, collectors are willing to pay thousands of dollars for several of the Topsun cards when graded in PSA 10 condition.
But a price tag of thousands of dollars turned out to be quite an understatement in January 2021 when Goldin Auctions sold the most desirable of them all, the only “no number error” blue-back Charizard on record in a PSA 10 holder, for a whopping $493,230.
The blue-back checklist contains 150 numbered cards in total, but for some reason, about 50 of the characters were also printed with no number on them by mistake.
So, while the standard blue-back Charizard should contain a “006” on it in the upper-left of the front of the card, the “no number error” will be blank.
If you can find one and are lucky enough to have it graded PSA 10, you could be looking at life-changing money.

Its highest selling price for a PSA 10 graded version of the card went for a solid $6,500, which may sound like a lot of money but doesn’t come close to everything else ahead of it on this list. Frankly, that’s frightening.

Trading cards of this high-flying, fire-breathing Pokémon is soaring to new price points.
A rare, first edition, holographic Charizard card from the 1999 Pokémon Base Set has just sold for $420,000 at auction an all-time record for a base-set card of its kind, according to PWCC Marketplace, which recently sold the card during its March Premier Auction.
This historic piece of art designed by celebrated artist Mitsuhiro Arita is easily the most recognizable Pokémon card ever made, the collector card-trading platform wrote of the lauded Japanese illustrator.
On a zero to 10 scale, the card boasts a perfect, mint condition rating, and out of the 3,000 copies of this card, only 121 hold up to that score, PWCC noted in the item description on their website.

For fans of the original Charizard card, this release was a welcome addition to their collection. It has the exact same moves and ability with the only major difference being slightly updated art. Curiously, they tend to sell for higher prices on average than the original as well. Considering this one was released in 2008 and the other came to the US in 1999, it’s interesting to see the newer card have more value among collectors.

No 1 Trainer Super Secret Battle

In 1999, The Pokemon Company hosted regional contests in Japan. Winners received a No. 1 Trainer Pokemon card which granted them access to the final that took place in a secret location.
Named Super Secret Battle, the special TCG tournament had a lot of mystique surrounding it. The rare Pokemon card features a silhouette of Mewtwo which has made it all the more desirable to fans.
In July 2020, the Japanese promo sold for an astonishing $90,000 making it one of the most valuable Pokemon cards to ever exist.

Pokémon Chrome Trading Card Series was a set of trading cards produced by Topps in 2000, following the massive success of the game. With no detailed number of the Charizard cards produced in this series, the series consists of 78 cards with 78 of the first Pokémon characters.
One of those Charizard cards is graded 10 GEM Mint condition by PSA and was sold for $60,000 at an auction by PWCC Auctions in 2022. Pokémon cards from these series were sold randomly, usually in packs of five cards.

/27 Psa 10 Neo Genesis First Edition Holo Lugia: $129000
Neo Genesis is effectively the Base Set of the second generation of Pokemon. It was the first time Pokemon from Silver, Gold, or Crystal appeared in the TCG, and it was also marred by many misprints and mistakes in its very first run. Alongside it being the mascot of Pokemon Silver, that’s mainly why a mint condition, holo, first edition Lugia from Neo Genesis is so highly desirable. The PSA has only given a PSA10 grade to 43 of these.
Prices for this card are incredibly unstable, even between cards with the same condition. In November 2020 PWCC sold a copy for $129,000, while less than a year later in September 2021, Goldin sold one for “just”$47,970.

/10 Charizard ~ Pokemon Skyridge
While this card rarely comes up on the market, it can go for massive prices when it does. A copy sold in 2022 on eBay for over $6,000 and others have sold in the high $5000 range. Even those that lack cards in mint condition still can pull in a lot with this card. As Skyridge was the last set of the game produced by Wizards of the Coast, it makes this card as special as it is rare. Anyone with one of these in their collection from when they were kids should keep them safe.

Pokmon Spanish First Edition Charizard #4

This edition offered Spanish natives an opportunity to participate in the Pokémon trading card game actively. Theres a Spanish translation on the body of the card, but the name Charizard remains. A sharp contrast between this and its French/German counterpart.
Check the lower-left corner of the card and find the Edicion 1 symbol. Only seven cards from this set have been certified PSA 10, placing among the rarest first edition Charizard cards in multi-language version.

/14 Team Up Black Star Staff Prerelease
Promotional cards are a tough thing to look at in the realm of collecting cards are they’re often very rare due to their limited printing of them. The Charizard that was featured as a Team-Up Black Star set card had a promotional staff version that was given to members who helped hold the prerelease event for the release of the set.
Alongside it was Gyarados, Machamp, and Mewtwo, which were at different various locations. The Charizard version of the promo can fetch a little over $2,000, provided it is PSA 10 grade.
/27 World Championships Sprint Battle Road 2002 No 1 Trainer Promo: $31000
No. 1 Trainer promo cards are almost always valuable, thanks to them only being printed in limited quantities and being awarded to finalists in World Championships. What makes the Battle Road Spring 2002 promo special, though, is that every card is unique.
Each one has the name of its owner, and the region they were the champion of, printed in the card’s text. As there were seven regions for the tournament, it can be assumed that there were at least seven produced.
It’s so rare that PSA doesn’t have an appraised value for it, however it has sold at auction in the past for $31,000.

Sometimes, after a Pokemon booster box has been out for a while and the set is discontinued, its value will start increasing massively. This commonly occurs when the cards in the set are especially sought-after.
XY Flashfire is one such set. Its booster boxes now sell for 400% more than they used to, because of the number of Charizards in the set.
This Mega Charizard EX is our favourite from the set. Its not the most expensive, but we love the dark look used on this card. Charizard is depicted with a metallic tint, and spits blue flames, which looks really cool against the dark backdrop of this card.
This Mega Charizard is also one of the few dragon type Charizard cards ever printed normally Charizard is a fire type Pokemon.
Blastoise Wizards Of The Coast Presentation Galaxy Star Holo

The Pokemon Trading Card Game community was stunned when this insanely rare Pokemon card was discovered by the public for the first time in 2021. Originally commissioned by Wizards of the Coast in 1998, the Blastoise Presentation card was supposed to give stores an idea of what the TCG line would look like in its final print run.
While there are varying reports about its history, its currently believed that only two are known to have ever existed, with only one currently accounted for. Its essentially is one of the earliest known Pokemon cards to exist, at least for the North American release. It was so early that one of the copies had a Magic: The Gathering backside to it, while the other is simply blank.
The historical Nintendo artifact went up for sale at Heritage Auctions in January 2021, and sold for a whopping $360,000, making it the third most expensive collectible just an inch behind the Base Set Charizard. Given that only two of these exist, it could one day take the top spot as the most valuable Pokemon card of all time. If nothing else it may be the rarest Pokemon card in the world.
