The most recent functionality for Pokémon Home, finally added in November 2020, is the ability to transfer Pokémon to Home from Pokémon Go, and therefore all the way from Go, to Home, to the Switch games Pokémon Sword and Shield.

This involves a new feature in Pokémon Go called the Go Transporter, and there are some limits on how often you can use it without spending Poké Coins, depending on the Pokémon you want to transfer. Here’s how it all works, from Go to Home and Home to Sword and Shield.

How to transfer Pokémon from Pokémon Go to Pokémon Home

• In Pokémon Go, open Settings, then scroll down and select Pokémon Home.
• Log into the same Nintendo Account that you use with Pokémon Home.
• Select Send Pokémon.
• You’ll then see the Go Transporter – select Continue.
• Select the Pokémon you want to transfer – you can select multiple Pokémon in one go here.
• Select Transport, and they’ll be sent.
• You now need to ‘recieve’ the Pokémon in Home by opening the app and doing so there. You can’t send any more to Home from Go until you complete that last step.

A message from Niantic confirms: Level 40 Trainers can now send Pokémon from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME! Stay tuned as we continue to roll this feature out to more Trainers.

ORIGINAL: Developers Niantic and the Pokemon Company have confirmed how they plan to transfer Pokemon Go to Pokemon Home.

For those that dont know what it is, Pokemon Home is a dedicated cloud service which allows trainers to store and transfer Pokemon from different games.

It means you can put your favourite Pocket Monsters together and make your perfect lineup, built from generations of hard work.

And it was announced just this week that Pokemon Go Home Transfers would soon be available to fans.

It should be noted that Pokemon being sent away to the Home cloud via the new Go Transporter, are making a one-way trip, as they cannot return PoGo after the transfer is complete.

There are also large limitations on how long it takes Pokemon to be transferred, and the amount of energy required to send certain Pokemon.

How To Use The Go Transporter In Pokemon Go

The actual act of transferring your Pokemon takes place in a new menu option called the Go Transporter. To access it, you need to go to the settings menu in Pokemon Go. Scroll down a bit until you see a list of devices near the bottom. This is where you would also go to connect to a Nintendo Switch for the Pokemon Let’s Go games or a Pokemon Go Plus. There should be an option labeled Pokemon Home. Click on it – the first time you do it will ask you to sign in with your Nintendo account. Once that’s sorted, you can hit “Send Pokemon” to begin.

From here the menu should look familiar. Just select any Pokemon you wish to transfer, they’ll be highlighted in green.

How Much Does It Cost To Transfer Pokmon

This is how much Transporter energy it costs to transfer a Pokémon:

Standard Pokémon

If a Pokémon would cost more than the maximum 10,000 energy to transfer for instance, a shiny CP 2400 mythical Pokémon it counts as using all of your energy but may still be transferred.

Energy takes time to recharge , or you can immediately charge it with PokéCoins. This costs a Coin per ten energy and your maximum energy is 10,000. So it will cost 1,000 PokéCoins to fully recharge your Transporter.

Pokmon Home Transferring Guide: How To Transfer From Pokmon Go To Home Sword And Shield Plus 3ds Using Pokmon Bank

Pokémon Home is the latest version of an online deposit box for your Pokémon – a service started many years ago on the Game Boy Color with Pokémon Silver and Gold’s Time Capsule, through to the most recent predecessor in Pokémon Bank on the 3DS.

Though it’s designed to easily work with modern Pokémon games on Switch it also supports Pokémon from previous generations with some careful planning thanks to Pokémon Bank.

Though your Pokémon from original Game Boy cartridges are unfortunately off limits it’s possible to take Pokémon from the Game Boy Advance all the way through to Sword and Shield.

Energy is a new currency exclusive to the Go Transporter. You start with 10,000. It looks like a blue bar, and once it empties you start regaining energy at 60 per hour. At that rate, it takes just under a week to fully recharge. You can also pay to recharge faster at a rate of 1 PokeCoin for 10 energy.

Different Pokemon have different energy costs. Here’s the breakdown :

Connect Pokmon Go To Pokmon Home

Before starting to transfer Pokémon, youll need to connect your Pokémon Go account to the same Nintendo account that is linked to Pokémon Home. Turn on Pokémon Go and tap the Poké Ball icon on the bottom of the screen. Then go into the Settings option in the top right corner. Scroll until you see Pokémon Home, which will prompt you to sign in with your Nintendo account.

Niantic has changed the system a little bit since Pokémon Homes initial release. Originally, only players at level 40 could transfer Pokémon from Go to Home. But now, all players can use this system regardless of their level.

Pokmon Go To Home Limitations Gigantamax Melmetal And Mystery Box Rewards And Other Things To Know About Transferring From Go To Home

There are a few other things to bear in mind when transferring Pokémon from Go to Home.

• The first time you do so, you’ll recieve a Gigantamax Melmetal as a reward! You can claim it via the Mystery Gift function on the mobile version of Home only.
• You’ll also be able to open a Mystery Box in Pokémon Go, causing Meltan to appear for a set period of time. More on that in our Melmetal and Mystery Boxes guide!

• Not all Pokémon can be transferred from Go to Home. Specifically, you can’t transfer Spinda, Kyurem Black/White, any Shadow or Mega Evolved Pokémon, or any of the special event Pokémon that have an altered appearance, like Armoured Mewtwo, Party Hat Pikachu or the Flower Crown Eeveelutions.
• Pokémon with different forms in Go will default to a specific form in Home . Specifically this will alter forms to:
• Castform Sunny/Rainy/Snowy – Castform Normal
• Meloetta Pirouette – Meloetta Aria
• Genesect Burn/Chill/Douse/Shock – Genesect Normal
• Certain Pokémon require you to have caught them or registered them in your Pokédex first, in order for you to transfer them from Home to Sword and Shield. In brief, these are all of the legendaries/mythicals catachable in Sword and Shield via Dynamax Adventures, plus Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Victini and Genesect. You can view the full list in the Home mobile app by going to Help – Other – Pokémon you can send to other games.

How To Add Friends

Tab over to where it says Your Room.

Select Friends.

Here you can find your sharable friend code or a QR code so others can add you and you can add friends by entering their code or scanning their unique QR code.

Theyâll need to accept your friend request and, once they do, theyâll appear on your friends list.

What You Need To Know Before Transferring Pokmon

There are some limitations when it comes to transferring Pokémon.

First, you have to use GO Transporter’s in-game item. This item uses something called GO Transporter Energy. Each Pokémon uses different amounts of energy, and the rarer the Pokémon, the more energy it’ll need. For instance, a shiny legendary Pokémon uses most of the GO Transporter energy, so you won’t be able to transfer two or more at the same time.

Fortunately, the GO Transporter energy gets fully recharged after a few days. You don’t need to go out and recharge it for yourself, but you can use PokeCoins to charge it right away.

It’s also worth noting that you can’t transfer all your Pokémon GO Pokémon. Some special Pokémon like shadow Pokémon or special event Pokémon with celebratory attire can’t be transferred. Also, you can’t transfer a Pokémon that’s marked as favorite or that you’re using as your buddybut you could change your buddy, and you’ll be good to go.

Speaking of Pokémon you can’t transfer you can’t transfer back your Pokémon from Pokémon HOME to Pokémon GO. You need to be entirely sure you want to move them, since there’s no undo.

As a final Pokémon Go tip, always receive your Pokémon in Pokémon HOME before sending more from Pokémon GO. If you send a second batch of Pokémon before receiving the first one, the transferring process might not work properly.

How To Transfer From Let’s Go To Sword And Shield

1. Open the Pokemon HOME app on your Nintendo Switch.

From the main menu you can immediately select your copy of Pokémon Sword or Shield and begin transferring Pokémon between Boxes.

You’ll find a gift Pikachu waiting for you in your Pokémon HOME box. Once connected, you’ll be able to transfer compatible Pokémon between the game and the app at will, using standard buttons in docked mode or dragging and dropping via the touchscreen in handheld mode to easily sort your Pokémon. Pressing the ‘-‘ button at any time will call up Poké Boy who will offer tips and explanations.

Hitting the ‘+’ button will enable you to save the changes to your boxes and return to the main menu. Pokémon HOME will list your Pokémon according to their National Pokédex number with the option to separate out each region. If a Pokémon has Mega Evolve or Gigantamax forms, they too will be shown.

Note: You’ll have to actually transfer the Pokémon to Pokémon HOME for it to register in the Pokédex – Pokémon contained in boxes in-game won’t be registered.

The Mobile version of the app displays even more information such as their abilities and the moves they can learn.

If I Dont Have A Switch What Is The Point Of Transferring To Pokmon Home

At this point, You may be wondering what is the point of this whole process if you do not have a Nintendo Switch, and therefore, Pokémon Sword or Shield.

The answer is: With Pokémon HOME you can get a free Meltan box! Just as you read it. When you transfer Pokémon from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME, the service will reward you with a free Meltan box!!!
