How Much Is A Japanese Pokemon Booster Box

On average, Japanese Pokemon booster boxes are priced at 4,950 Yen . Each Booster box will have 30 packs containing 5 cards each with a total of 150 cards per booster box. Japanese Pokemon booster boxes are $0.10 cheaper per card on average compared to English Booster boxes.

A standard English language booster pack of Pokemon cards will cost $4.00 for a pack of 10 cards from a retailer such as Target. That works out to approximately $0.40 per card.

A comparable set of Pokemon cards from Japan will be approximately $1.51 per pack of 5 cards, $0.30 per card. Making Pokemon cards $0.10 cheaper in Japan.

Its important to mention that some Japanese booster boxes like Legendary Heartbeat contain only 20 packs per booster box, but contain 7 cards a pack.

This can change the maths slightly if you are trying to work out if Japanese Pokemon cards are cheaper. However, as a general rule, the retail price for Pokémon cards in Japan is cheaper.

No matter where you are in the world, you will tend to save money by buying Pokémon booster boxes rather than individual packs. But the cost isnt everything when it comes to getting the most value out of Pokemon booster boxes.

Japanese booster boxes are a lot different from what you have come to expect from your English Pokemon booster boxes. Not only in terms of the number of cards but also how card rarity works differently for Japanese cards.

Japanese cards come in a wider variety of rarities than their English counterparts.

Pokemon Card Sold By Country

Pokemon Cards

With no surprise, 62.19% of Pokemon cards were sold from the United States and Japan coming in second with 19.62%. Canada came in third with 7.71% of total cards sold.

Country
$44,579.17 $68.27

For the bigger countries like Japan, the United States, Canada and Australiait kind of got interesting.

The United States sold the most at $44,579.17 but only had an average of $66.46. This is less than the total average sold.

Japan and Australia had higher averages at $93.73 and $89.17 respectively.

Canadas average was on the lower side at $55.53. Canadians seem to be selling their cards but arent selling valuable pokemon cards.

It was also interesting to see that Canada and Australia had around the same number of items sold, but Australia had a 60% higher average than Canada.

This could mean that Australians have more valuable Pokémon cards than Canadians.

Same with Japan and the United States.

Japan had a 27% higher average cost than the United States but only had 19.62% of items sold compared to the United States which had 62% of the items sold.

Pokmon Blastoise #009/165r Commissioned Presentation Galaxy Star Hologram

A two-of-a-kind card that suddenly became one of the most valuable Pokémon cards of all time

Sold for $360,000 in January 2021

One of only two such Pokémon cards in existence making it extremely rare this Blastoise suddenly became one of the most valuable Pokémon cards of all time after it sold at auction in January 2021 for a whopping $360,000 .

The ultra-rare Pokémon card was created in 1998 as a presentation piece by Magic: The Gathering maker Wizards of the Coast to convince Nintendo of Japan executives to allow it to handle the TCGs English-language release. The game would eventually make its international debut one year later in 1999.

While two Blastoise Presentation cards were produced, this is the only one that has been seen publicly. Even more impressively, it has been graded at a NM/Mint+ 8.5 level by certification website CGC, meaning that the 20-plus-year-old card is in near-perfect condition. The location and state of the other Presentation card remains unknown meaning that this may well be the only such card of its type left.

Do Japanese Pokemon Cards Have 1st Edition

The concept was used by Wizards of the Coast for the English and European releases from the beginning of the TCGs introduction to the West, starting with Base Set. Japanese cards did not have 1st Edition runs at this time. After Nintendo gained control of the TCG, 1st Edition runs were rejected altogether.

Identifying Valuable Pokmon Cards

  • 1Check card rarity. Each Pokémon card has a rarity that determines how likely you are to open it in a booster pack. While this isnt the only thing that determines a cards a value, its probably the biggest. Look in the bottom right corner of the card to find the rarity symbol, next to the card number:
  • A circle means the card is common, while a diamond marks uncommon cards. These are easy to find, and not usually worth much unless the card was printed in 1999 or 2000.
  • A star means the card is rare, while a star H or three stars are special, extra-rare cards.XResearch source These rarities have the highest potential to be valuable, so separate them from the rest of your collection.
  • Other symbols typically mean the card was sold as part of a special product, not a booster pack. Try looking up the card as a Promo, Deck Kit, or Boxtopper version to check the price. These can range in price from a few cents to over $100, depending on the product.
  • 2Investigate early cards closely. Cards printed soon after the game was released are especially valuable, and even commons and uncommons might be worth $5 each or more.XResearch source Any card that says Wizards of the Coast at the bottom of the card is from 1999 or early 2000, and is worth investigating closely. If one or both of the following features are present, and the card is a rare, it could potentially sell for $100 or more:

Full List Of Card Prices For Mcdonalds 25th Anniversary Pokmon Tcg Happy Meal Packs

The prices vary a lot, but most are about where you would expect.

As part of a promotion for the Pokémon franchises 25th anniversary, The Pokémon Company once again partnered with fast-food giant McDonalds to distribute cards in Happy Meals until March 8.

Each Happy Meal is supposed to come with a four-card promo pack that features reprinted art of all 24 starter Pokémon and Pikachu with a special 25th-anniversary stamp on the card. In total, there are 50 cards in this limited-edition set because all 25 Pokémon have a holo and non-holo variant.

Just like with every other Happy Meal promotion, customers can purchase the featured items separately, though this policy depends on the individual McDonalds store and management. This has led to locations being bought out of the cards entirely, leading to scalpers re-selling the limited-edition Pokémon cards online.

Because the cards are a limited-edition run tied into the Pokémon franchises 25th anniversary, there is an inherent collectibility factor playing into the price of the cards. Some sealed boxes listed for resale can go for between $600 to $1,000, while individual packs are going up to anywhere from $4 to $20.

Here is a list of average costs for every Pokémon card featured in this McDonalds 25th anniversary set, listed by generation and with holo and non-holo pricings form current and historic price database, PriceCharting. None of these listings are using PSA graded examples.

Pokemon Players Club Shiny Umbreon: $1900

If youve got a soft spot for the blue and black shiny version of the Dark-type Pokemon Umbreon, then be aware that youre not the only one. The Japanese version of the Shining Umbreon Pokemon card is pretty highly desired, with its unique coloring and gorgeous frame-piercing artwork making it fittingly beautiful as one of the first shiny Pokemon to appear on a card.

However, its price is so high because of much more than just its looks and popularity. The Shining Umbreon card only saw a very limited release through the Japanese Pokemon Players Club for hitting the maximum number of experience points through the club between 2005 and 2006, making it one of the rarest cards out there. For this reason, Troll and Toad has had it listed at just near and impressive $1900.

Look For The Shadow On The Right Side Of The Image

This is the easiest way to tell if a cardboard is a limited edition. Look at the right side of the image, and if you see a shadow, then it is definitely shadowed. This is because this shadow runs from the right side of the cardboard, and it was added after the second printing.

Nevertheless, because the first version and the shadowless editions all feature a shadow, you will not be able to tell them apart using this technique. Instead, you will need to check the bottom right corner of the Pokémon box to find it. A dark circle with a 1 in the middle and the phrase edition all-around the top of the circle indicate that it is the first edition.

Are Pokemon Booster Boxes Worth Buying

    Pokemon Platinum Arceus 10

The hunt for valuable Pokemon cards is more popular than ever. Finding that perfect condition Rainbow Rare Charizard and having it graded is a feat most collectors would love to cross off their bucket list. But, how many Pokemon booster boxes will you have to open to find that one card your after, or any valuable cards at all for that matter?

Are Pokemon booster boxes worth buying? The answer is Yes. If you are hunting for valuable and rare cards, then it is definitely worth it to consider buying multiple booster boxes.

Pokémon booster boxes might be a considerable investment but buying them has benefits for both the new and the veteran collector. If you are looking for a chance to make quick cash, though, booster boxes probably are not what you are looking for.

Are There Any Other Methods For Finding Rare Pokemon Cards

The latest rumor which we have heard is that some players are using handheld metal detections in order to determine if rare cards are present. So, does this work? We cant say yes or no for sure, but many handheld detectors are sensitive enough to catch trace amounts of metals in dirt. This is an expensive location hack, however, so we dont know that this will catch on as the latest rare-card finding trend.

    Only time will tell.

How Much Do Pokemon Packs Weigh On Average

If you are going to experiment with weighing Pokemon packs in order to maximize your chances of obtaining rare cards then you will need to know the average pack weight. Most people use this with booster packs, which have 10 cards in each, and as it turns out, the weights can certainly help you.

A normal card is going to weigh approximately 1.69 grams. One the other of the spectrum is the heaviest, which are the Ultrarare cards. They weigh about 1.98 grams. Finally, the Holofoil cards weigh close to the same around as the Ultrarare cards, weighing in at 1.93 grams. The extra décor on these cards makes a difference and the proof is in the weights.

So, what does the average pack weigh that doesnt have an Ultrarare or a Holofoil card? Well, typically we find that the average weight of of a booster pack without a Holofoil is around 28.99 grams. Between the cardboard and the foil-wrapped packs the weights are 9.14 and 19.88 grams, respectively.

For best results you will need to practice by purchsing and weighing 4 packs at a time and observing the range of differences. Weighing the cards DOES work, but it is a skill that you are going to need to develop with practice.

But, before you start any type of weighing, you will need to make sure you are properly equipped with a scale that is able to give you the most accurate weight numbers in grams.

Is Weighing Pokemon Packs More Cost

Arguably, yes, weighing Pokemon cards is most cost effective but its not guaranteed. If you are purchasing 10 packs, individually selected after weighing, then you are spending around $4 plus the tax on each for a ballpark figure of $50. If your weighing technique is good then you might be able to get 7 -10 Ultrarare cards.

Now, if you purchase a Booster box then you are looking at around an $85 investment and this is going to guarantee the following:

    • 108 uncommon cards
    • 36 rare cards
    • 216 common cards

So, as you can see, a lot is going to depend on your talent for weighing the cards and this does take practice. Dont expect results overnight, but if you work on it the general consensus seems to be that it is a cost-effective hack for getting Ultrarare cards without having to break the bank. If spending the extra money is not a problem, however, then you might want to consider going with the guaranteed option.

It boils down to a question of whether you want to invest the time or just spend the extra money, but as many players find that hunting rares this way is a bit like a treasure hunt you might want to give it a try first to see for yourself. Its just another way to play your favorite game!

How To Weigh Sun And Moon Packs

100 PACKS OF POKEMON CARDS! How Many Ultra Rare Charizards Can I Pull From Opening Darkness Ablaze

To weigh these Sun and Moon packs you will want to get started by recording the weights in samplings of 4 at a time and then comparing the weights to see if you notice trends.

Youll have to purchase a number of packs in the process, of course, so that you can record your results, but in time this method can give you some target weights to watch for if the general consensus is to be believed. The best advice that we can give you is to look for the lightest packs for this series and onward.

This is because the green cards which come in the packs are thicker and heavier than the white code cards that are sometimes present. This is important, because Green cards are packed with rares. The lighter whites, however, are present when there is a Holo card.

As you can see, all the code cards technically achieve is that they have changed the ranges which you have to test for. So if you adjust with the times, you can still use pack weighing quite effectively.
