Can You Guess All 151 Pokmon
On little YouTube adventure I had this afternoon, I came across a video of someone trying to guess all of the 151 original Pokémon. To be honest, the idea of watching someone do this themselves sounded absolutely boring. But I wanted to try and do it myself. Its my favourite generation of Pokémon, so I thought Id know it quite well, although I havent played it in quite some time .
Well, after the first twenty minutes, Id guessed around 100 of them. I thought that was impressive, until it took about ten more minutes to guess the next twenty Pokémon. But by that point my mind went completely blank. So my progress so far is 120 Pokémon in 30 minutes, although I havent closed the tab, so I may try and complete it later.
If you want to try it yourself, you can find the quiz on Sporcle, which I think has a really good format for online quizzes. Its just a single text field where you constantly type guesses, and if you get one correct, the text is cleared, and the relevant field is populated. Its pretty fun.
While I was on Sporcle, I found a few more quizzes to try. So here they are, along with my score:

Can You Name These Original Pokemon
Welcome to the wonderful world of Pokemon! First off, are you a boy or a girl? Doesn’t matter – we can’t hear you anyway.
In fact, you look like you need no introduction to the Pokemon universe. Is that a Pokedex we see? Is your cap on backwards? Good, you’re no amateur.
These days, it’s hard to tell the real Pokemon trainers apart from the bandwagoners. After the rise of Pokemon Go, we’ve seen so many venture into the tall, virtual grass without even passing by Professor Oak’s lab first. Within no time at all, our streets were littered with younglings looking for invisible Pokemon hidden in the plain air.
There’s a lot of good to be said about Pokemon Go, for sure. However, we must all remember our roots, starting from Route 1 back in Pokemon Blue and Red, when we first left our beloved Palette Town to become Pokemon masters.
That’s the real start of a Pokemon journey, and it opens up to endless tales. Of course, these stories would never have been possible without the eternal roster of the original 151 Pokemon. If you’re any sort of real trainer at all, you’ll be able to get 100% on this quiz with your eyes closed. But maybe keep your eyes open so you can actually take the quiz.
