What Starter Should I Choose For Pokemon Heart Gold/soul Silver
Pokemon heart gold and soul silver are classic remakes of the original games. With a touch of improved graphics, features and an updated Pokedex.
In Pokemon HG & SS you get to choose between Totodile, Cyndaquil and Chikorita. And each one will present a different set of challenges if used.
If youre just starting out on either of these games and need some guidance on what Pokemon to start with, this guide will lead you down the right path.
Which One To Pick
Based on type coverages alone, Blastoise is actually the best pick in Pokemon Go. Its attack stat may not rival that of Charizards, but its good enough to douse the flame of every Fire-type that comes its way. Its weak to Grass-type and Electric-type moves, but theres only a handful of Electric Pokemon in Pokemon Go, with the most powerful one still not even available in-game. This leaves Grass-type moves to be afraid of. Fortunately, Grass-type Pokemon arent exactly known for being heavy-hitters.
If you want sheer power alone or want to walk around with the coolest-looking, then go for Charizard. Although its not a real Dragon Pokemon, Charizard is the closest thing you can get to another Dragon Pokemon, at least until the other Dragon Pokemon arrives. Venusaur, on the other hand, isstill being Venusaur the one that gets overlooked most of the time. Fire-type and Psychic-type moves are some of the most powerful attacks in Pokemon Go and, unfortunately, Venusaur is weak to both, no thanks to its dual Grass-Poison type.

Which Starter Pokemon To Choose In Pokemon Quest
Pokemon Quest features a new active combat system which allows players to build teams of three pokemon and use them to defeat waves of enemies. The first thing you have to do in the game, just like in most Pokemon games, is pick a starter pokemon. There are five to choose from, so weve gathered together a list of all of them, along with their base stats:
- Charmander: ATK-126, HP-76
- Pikachu: ATK-131, HP-71
- Eevee: ATK-101, HP-101
The first few missions you go on in Pokemon Quest are very easy, so your starter pokemon wont matter too much in terms of strength. Bulbasaur is a good choice as a defensive option, able to heal during battle. Charmander has good attack stats, and is able to use Fire Spin to hit groups of enemies from afar. Ultimately it all comes down to personal preference, but given that fire type pokemon are less common in the game, wed recommend Charmander. Eevee is also a good choice, as its normal type moves will be effective early on in the game.

Which Is The Best Starter Pokmon In Pokmon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl
If you’ve played the original Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, you may be worried that the game’s scarcity of fire-type Pokémon before completing the Hall of Fame has been carried over. Thankfully there are more fire-type Pokémon in the wild. Slightly.
The Ponyta and Houndour evolution lines will be available in both games, with Shining Pearl players having the additional choice of the Magmar evolution line. This means that, if you don’t want to choose Chimchar as your starter Pokémon, then you do have slightly more options available to you in the main adventure.
Still, if Chimchar is the one for you, expect to have a difficult first Gym battle due to it being rock-type themed – one of Chimchar’s weaknesses. After this Gym, however, Chimchar does start to pack a punch, especially at the second, grass-type, themed Gym. It will also be incredibly useful in the later stages of the main journey where two gyms are particularly weak to fire-type Pokémon.
Both Turtwig and Piplup are highly effective against rock-type Pokémon, so the first Gym will be no problem for them, but stumble at the second Piplup is weak against grass-type Pokémon and Turtwig won’t be as effective due to being of the same type. Like Chimchar, however, they can both become powerful Pokémon if you continue to train them and have advantages in the later stages of the game.
Have fun in the Sinnoh region with your new Pokémon!
Why Is It Important To Choose A Starter Pokemon
Arguably the most important decision a player makes in a Pokémon playthrough, selecting a starter defines the journey a player is about to embark on. It comes as no surprise that starters tend to be some of the most popular Pokémon generation to generation as fans become attached to their partner Pokémon.

Each starter Pokémon has three evolutionary forms. Pokémon Yellow , Pokémon Lets Go Pikachu and Pokémon Lets Go Eevee are currently the only exceptions to the above, with Pikachu as the only starter available to the player in Pokémon Yellow and Pokémon Lets Go Pikachu, and Eevee as the only starter available to

Incineroar Is A Bulkly Defensive Fire
Incineroar is another Pokemon that’s used from time to time in the current OU format, and it’s mostly a defensive creature. Its Hidden Ability, Intimidate, lowers the attack of the opponent’s Pokemon when Incineroar comes out. Mix that with a Careful Nature, which raises the Pokemon’s Special Defense at the cost of its Special Attack, and you have a solidly bulky Pokemon.
Flare Blitz is a reliable move for when Incineroar needs to deal damage, and disrupting moves such as Knockoff and Taunt can interrupt whatever strategies your opponent has in mind for their Pokemon.
Rowlet: Grass / Flying
- Special Defense: 50
- Special Attack: 42
Aside from its base HP, Rowlet’s stats are … not too impressive. Its slow speed took fans by surprise, given its typing. Otherwise, it appears to be a rounded fighter without any major strengths. But hey that just means room for improvement through evolution. Right?

Pokmon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl: Grand Underground Guide
Were deep in the cycle of Pokémon games releasing both new titles as well as remakes of the originals. Newer games, like Pokémon Sword and Shield, have been more controversial among the die-hard Pokémon fans for one reason or another. However, even if the new games no longer satisfy the older fans, the remakes of the first several generations are there to bring the older titles onto your current hardware with plenty of graphical, technical, and mechanical improvements. The latest of which are the Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, remakes of Diamond and Pearl for your Nintendo Switch.

In the remake, however, things have been overhauled with new content, turning it into the Grand Underground. Piplup: Adorable But Replaceable
If youre planning for the Pokémon League, two of the Elite Four members are weak against water-types, so Piplup may be a good choice. Just like with Chimchar, the reliance on Piplup for the late game wont be necessary, as you will very likely have a fleshed-out party by the time you hit the Pokémon League.
Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl has a lot of water-type Pokémon to grab. While Piplup will also help you against rock-type specialist Roark, the first gym leader, its not anything special. It is a cute little penguin, though, and that counts for something.
Piplup evolves into Empoleon, a water– and steel-type.

Primarina: Water / Fairy
- Special Attack: 60
- Hidden Ability: Liquid Voice
Primarina is far and away the fastest of the three starter Pokemon, and its Special Defense stat is quite decent, too. That helps make up for its low Attack and regular Defense stats, which keep Primarina from dishing out too many hard knocks. Skilled players will have a lot of fun formulating strategies, no doubt. Primarina’s Hidden Ability is Liquid Voice, which turns all voice-related moves into Water-type moves.
Reason #2 Gym Effectiveness
- Chimchar Monferno Infernape
Chimchar might struggle against the first Rock-type gym leader, but if you get him to level 14 and evolve him to Monferno first, he’ll learn Fighting moves and will breeze through the battle. After that, his Fire and Fighting attacks are a very powerful choice against the following gyms. Not to mention, he’s the best choice to use against the Elite Four at the end of the game since he can easily KO at least two of each Elite Member’s Pokémon.
Note: Rapidash, Ponyta’s evolution, can be decently effective at the end here as well. But since it doesn’t know Fighting-type moves, it won’t be as effective against some of the Pokémon you face.

What Is A Starter Pokmon
Although Pikachu stars in the anime, in most Pokémon video games, trainers begin their journey with a tough choice between three initial monsters:
The starting trio form a rock-paper-scissors triangle, with each bearing an advantage against another, and your rival will typically choose the unit that trumps your own.
Although starters are on mostly equal footing when it comes to stat totals, the way those stats are spread changes drastically between monsters, and some starters gain second elements upon evolution, further adding diversity between the types.
Throw in movepools, potential abilities, and mega evolutions, and it’s safe to say not all starters are created equal. But with dozens of companions introduced throughout the years, which classic Pokémon reign supreme? These are the ten strongest starters of all time!
Treecko, Grovyle, and Sceptile
Type: Grass, Grass/Dragon
Base Stat Total: 530
Generation/Games: 3/Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald
Luckily, Sceptile can mega evolve into the Grass/Dragon Mega Sceptile. This form is even faster and stronger than before, making it a great indirect sweeper, and with its new Lightning Rod ability, it’s a superb partner for Electric-weak allies in multibattles just watch out for an unfortunate quad weakness to Ice. Although it will need TMs and other tricks to make use of its Special Attack, Treecko remains one of the best forest monsters that proved Grass isn’t just for defense and healing.
Pokmon Unite: Best Starter Pokmon To Choose
As soon as you start your adventure in the world of Pokémon UNITE, you will be tasked with choosing one starter Pokémon for free. In contrast to the mainline series of the franchise, you are not given three options to choose from, but rather five. Very generous if I may say, since you the options you are provided with, are one Pokémon for each of the available roles of the game.

Chimchar: A Rare Fire
If youre playing for the long game, Chimchar will be a good choice, as later gym leaders are weak against fire types. However, by the time you get this deep in the game, you should have a wide variety of Pokémon and shouldnt be relying on your starter.
Notably, this Pokémon region doesnt have many fire-types. For most of the game, your only options for fire-types outside of Chimchar are Ponyta and Rapidash. That being said, you might want to pick up Chimchar if you want to use a fire-type.
Chimchar evolves into Infernape, a fire– and fighting-type.
Best Starter In Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl
Overall, the best starter to pick in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl is Chimchar.
Not only is it effective against early Gyms, but its final evolution Infernape is a beast against later Gym Leaders as well due to its ability to learn both Fire and Fighting-type moves.
Infernape is also a great pick for going head-to-head with the Pokemon Champion after beating the Elite 4 due to the opponents Grass and Steel-type team.
And there you have it! Now you should have an idea of who youre picking for your adventure across the Sinnoh region.
