What Is The Hardest Pokemon Game

Pokemon Ultra Moon & Ultra Sun

What is the Hardest Pokémon Game?

One of the newest Pokemon games is also one of the hardest all thanks to a few challenging final battles. The original Pokemon Sun & Moon isnt incredibly difficult thanks handy features like EXP Sharing so all your Pokemon on a team are equally leveled but Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon ramps up the challenge by throwing impressively difficult Totem Pokemon in your path.

Totem Pokemon is unique giant Pokemon encounters that are only found in Gen 7 main games, and theyre not even the hardest challenge. Ultra Necrozma, the Legendary in USUM, is an ultra-powerful team-wiper with crazy offensive power. And thats nothing compared to the challenging Rainbow Rocket Leaders youll face in the bonus post-game content. These guys have Perfect IVs and EVs Legendary Pokemon, making them some of the most challenging AI opponents youll face in any Pokemon game.

Whos Stronger Mew Or Mewtwo

Mewtwo is confirmed to be more powerful than Mew. Its safe to say that Mewtwo is no longer the strongest Pokémon, but still high up on the list. Despite the power of Mewtwo, there are other Pokémon who are much more powerful. Were simply positing who would win in a one-on-one battle between Mewtwo and another Mon.

Pokmon Trading Card Game Live Gameplay Overview

HARDEST POKEMON GAME EVER: POKEMON OMEGA BLACK BETA 2 ...

Pokémon Trading Card Game Live uses the same official rules as the physical TCG. If you learned how to play the Pokémon TCG back when it first came out in the 90s, then youll be happy to hear not much has changed. Sure, there are new card types such as Supporters and Pokémon VMAX, but the easy-to-learn/hard-to-master flow of gameplay remains the same with evolving Pokémon, declaring attacks, and taking six Prizes to win. For those who need a rules refresher or are learning for the first time, PTCGL offers a breezy tutorial that teaches you everything you need to know.

Cards are played by dragging and dropping them to their appropriate place on the board, with highlighted prompts helping to guide your hand. Though we didnt get to try it out ourselves, playing cards seemed easy and fluid. Pokémon cards rise into the air to deliver attacks, and the board lights up with a neat flourish corresponding to the Pokémons elemental type. The presentation is flashy and clean, but also sparse and basic.

PTCGL offers improved visuals over PTCGO, to be sure, but so far it doesnt feel like it pushed its innovations far enough. When comparing the PTCGL game board to other digital TCG games such as Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel or Magic: The Gathering Arena, the lack of style is even more apparent. Pokémon is a franchise bursting with substance and flair, but as far as this demo is concerned, little of it is on display in PTCGL.

Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire

Despite being remakes of Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire, which will appear much later on this list, Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire are almost a joke in their challenge level. Many foes give ludicrous amounts of experience, and from your starter’s Mega Evolution to a free Latios or Latias, it’s extremely difficult to fail in this adventure.

That’s not to say it isn’t fun, and it had a wonderful competitive scene thanks to its many new Mega Evolutions and access to various legendaries. That said, you’ll absolutely need a personal restriction like a Nuzlocke challenge if you want a little more bite with this game.

Every Arceus Fight Ever

Arceus is the god of all Pokémon that can change type depending on the tablet it is holding. It also always has the most terrifying theme music in the series, which is definitely the best place for it.

Even against other players Arceus is a tough fight. It’s almost always the toughest wild Pokémon that’s able to be encountered, often locked behind events due to its strength, and generally is a massive powerhouse capable of sweeping all teams.

Pokmon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon

Making its way as the hardest Pokémon game on the list, we have the returning version of the first Alola game with the Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon. Received as full of smart improvements by IGN, the 2017 RPG is indeed the enhanced version of the Pokémon Sun & Moon.

With a higher degree of challenge than the original Alola games, youll encounter Totem Pokémons with their later-than-usual level evolutions that may make the video game seem a bit more unfair than challenging.

Apart from that, the legendary Ultra Necrozma form that boasts off-the-chart offensive powers and the perfect IV and EV score Pokémon of Rainbow Rocket Leaders in the bonus post-game content will definitely be some of the hardest AI opponents that youll come across in any Pokémon game.

Brock Is A Mean Way To Start Out Kanto Games

The Hardest Pokémon Game

Brock might be the first gym leader anyone who started on a Kanto game encounter, but that doesn’t mean he’s easy. In fact, he’s a downright nightmare to anyone with a Charmander or a Pikachu as a starter.

If the player didn’t start with Squirtle or Bulbasaur, they’re in for an extremely rough ride against his team. Unless players can get Charmander Metal Claw in the later games or level up a bug enough to be useful, there’s not much before him that is super-effective otherwise.

Pokemon Black & White 2

Pokemon Black & White made life difficult with one simple change EXP Scaling. Due to EXP Scaling, players couldnt easily outlevel enemies in the Pokemon Black & White games. Youd have to build teams to match your Gym Leader opponents, and without the aid of EXP Sharing like modern games in the series.

  • NOTE: Theres also a Challenge Mode that makes the game even harder. If youre looking for a challenge, you can make this game what some consider the hardest in the series.

To make life easier, Pokemon Black & White limits gym battles to about three Pokemon so you dont have to face a full team. Doesnt really matter when facing challenging enemies like Ghetsis, the leader of Team Plasma. This guy is one of the toughest challenges in the game thanks to his legendary Kyurem Pokemon. Its a Dragon, so you know how annoying those can be for match-ups. Hes also got a full party of six Pokemon, and hes one of the biggest stumbling blocks in both main Gen 5 games.

Pokmon Black & White 2 Is The Third Hardest Pokmon Game

Pokémon Black and White 2 is the first official sequel that takes place in the same region as their predecessors. The games take place two years after Pokémon Black and White, with new locations accessible in several areas of the map and new Champions, Elite Four members, and Gym Leaders to battle. Pokémon Black and White 2 as a sequel also removed several standard features in traditional games, presenting players with a rival on a rescue mission rather than a fellow competitor for the Champion title. While the standard version of Pokémon Black and White 2 doesn’t present a significant challenge, players can change settings to create a more challenging experience.

Though the fifth generation’s reputation is hotly debated amongst the Pokémon community, its mechanics make for some particularly difficult gameplay. Pokémon Black and White 2 hold a unique position in the franchise as the only games with difficulty settings. Players can choose between Easy Mode and Challenge Mode, which raises the Pokémon level of all encountered Trainers. As a result, players need to train Pokémon much more and anticipate greater difficulties every step of the way. The unfortunately underpowered collection of monsters in the Unova region also presented some issues for team composition. Despite the existence of a Challenge Mode, Pokémon Black and White 2 is only the third most challenging Pokémon game and is rivaled by earlier generations.

    Top 10 Hardest Pokemon Battles

While they were hotly awaited by the community, these games do leave something to be desired in the difficulty department. For the most part. Between permanent experience share and the affection system that may have you witnessing your Pokemon survive deadly hits multiple times in a row, the game isn’t too challenging.

That’s not to say there aren’t challenges, though. The Elite 4 ramps up the difficulty quite a bit, and Cynthia herself is something of a demon. For most of the game, though? You may have to actually try to lose a battle.

    Pokemon Black 2 & White 2

Pokemon Black 2 specifically wins in terms of difficulty thanks to a hard-to-unlock Hard Mode, which you could load to other games if you’d unlocked it. This is mostly irrelevant since you needed two games and DS consoles to do it, but both these Unova sequels gave a much greater set of challenges with their larger Pokedex.

This expanded Pokedex makes Team Plasma far more threatening, and new first and second Gyms make for much better Normal and Poison-type tests. This game’s challenges are also expressed in the World Tournament, an especially deep challenge that lets you fight against powerful versions of Gym Leaders from throughout Pokemon history.

Lusamine Fusing With Nihelego Was Something Else

It’s a common note that the Alola games were not very difficult. However, their Ultra counterparts really fleshed out and polished the games before them and were brilliant installments to play with newcomers to the franchise.

While Guzma was finally a worthy team leader, the rest of his team was kind of pathetic. Lusamine, however, was downright horrifying in every step of her story. When she fused with Nihelego and battled against the player, she was one tough fight that still sends shivers down the spines of those who experienced it.

    Pokemon Black & White

Pokemon Black & White is where the difficulty of the Pokemon games ramps up quite a bit, as Unova brought an entirely new set of challenges that no player had ever faced before. No original Pokemon in the main story meant teams could look incredibly different from each other and forced you to create a diverse team to make your way through it.

RELATED: Pokémon: Making The Perfect Gen V Team

The main problem in this game is Team Plasma, which ends up being disappointingly easy to defeat in nearly every story segment. Few members use evolved Pokemon and their teams rarely consist of unusual partners, making your new foe N the only real threat from this major aspect of the game.

    Pokemon Sword & Shield

Ranking All The Pokemon Games Easiest to Hardest

Dont scoff at this entry just yet. Pokemon Sword & Shield isnt difficult normally the game is packed with easy ways to outlevel your enemies and earn powerful Pokemon. If youve got the DLC, you can grab Level 65 Legendaries before the first Gym Leader battle! Thats game-breaking right there. But theres one aspect of Pokemon Sword & Shield thats brain-splittingly difficult.

And thats the annoying Max Raid Dens. These randomly generated battles again massive Pokemon can be absurdly easy or an exercise in endless frustration. Whether youre playing online with a team of allies or using AI, these battles, the battle will always end after 10 turns or after four Pokemon have collapsed. You might be one hit away from defeating these Gigantamax Pokemon with super-sized HP / defense, and the battle will be over because you just hit your time limit. Trying to complete 5-Star Max Raid Dens might not be required, but theyre so tantalizing it always ends in heartache.

    Mewtwo In Cerulean Cave

Mewtwo shows up all the time throughout the games and is a fan favorite for good reason. It packs a serious punch and is the most brilliant example of just how powerful psychic types can be.

Mewtwo can be found in Cerulean Cave in the Kanto games, ready to test the player’s strength after becoming champion. Not only are the wild Pokémon around it the strongest in their games, but Mewtwo itself is also the highest level players are going to face, and it makes sure to earn that title.

    How Rare Is A Mew

Mew is so rare the #151 Pokemon isnt even on the app guides. This fella is the last on the Pokedex and is a member of the Mew duo with Mewtwo and is a psychic mythical Pokemon. It does not evolve into anything else but has the ability to learn every technical machine, hidden machine and most move tutor moves.

Pokémon: 10 Hardest Regular Trainers In The Original Red ...

    The Pokemon Company

These are the first games in the series. Pokemon Red and Blue were the original Pokemon games released to players worldwide. Many people consider the games to be the best games in the series. But for our best Pokemon games list, we put the Kanto region games at number 2. Although these games started the series, they’re still among some of the best games to ever be released. The remakes aren’t too shabby either.

Since this was the first Pokemon game, it doesn’t have the flashy features that we see relevant in modern-day Pokemon games. Nevertheless, these games implemented all of the basic Pokemon features we’ve grown to love in every installment. For starters, the original 151 Pokemon are without a doubt some of the best The Pokemon Company has ever designed. These Pokemon are synonymous with the franchise. Pokemon such as Charizard, Squirtle, Mewtwo, Pikachu, and more are still present in every Pokemon game.

The story is also one of the most simplistic yet one of the best in the series. The classic Team Rocket is one of the most recognizable faces in gaming. Their battle against the main protagonist over the course of the game is easily one of the best-crafted stories we’ve come across in a Pokemon game.

Steven Stone As Champion Is Enough To Make Anyone Nervous

According to Pokémon canon, Steven Stone actually came in second place and shouldn’t be the Hoenn champion. That title should belong to Wallace, but the Ice gym leader had enough on his plate with his Gym and contests. This is why Steven isn’t the leader in Emerald, for example.

However, Steven is a massive tank quite capable of defending his champion title. His steel-types have a ton of resistance, and that Metagross of his packs a considerable punch. There are plenty of other steel trainers out there, but Steven shows what the type can really do.

    Diamond And Pearl Spiritomb

Who needs friends when you have Pokémon?

People who want to complete the dex, apparently.

Spiritomb was the first major instance of you needing to do some ludicrous extra stuff to encounter a Pokémon.

It was like doing a Call of Duty zombies easter egg.

Getting your hands on the odd keystone was fine it was interacting with 32 other players in the underground that was a problem.

While you could do it with the same player if you refreshed the underground every time, this still took ages, just far more than it should have.

This was when Pokémon was beginning to adapt to the Internet, too. So all of the global connections were janky.

Although, the GTS was a great idea that I wish came back.

    Pokemon Sword And Shield

    The Pokemon Company

This one may come off as a tad controversial because the game was only released in 2019, but hear us out. While Pokemon Sword and Shied was the first Pokemon game released on the Nintendo Switch, it was also one of the series’ most ambitious projects in recent memory. Sword and Shield implemented a fantastic feature in the form of the Wild Area, a massive part of the Galar Region where Pokemon would spawn throughout in the overworld. While in the Wild Area, the weather would also decide what Pokemon would spawn, an excellent concept from Nintendo. Since this was the first time Nintendo tested this feature out, it received a decent amount of criticism from fans.

For starters, many trainers thought there could have been so much more done within the Wild Area. It’s essentially half the Galar Region, and there’s not much to do in the Wild Area besides catching Pokemon and participating in Dynmax Raids. On the topic of raids, these were mini-boss battles in which you could partake with online friends or NPCs. The Pokemon you could find in these battles were also much stronger than regular Wild Pokemon, but there was never an incentive to partake in these battles.

All-in-all, Pokemon Sword and Shield is by no means a bad Pokemon game. We’re sure Nintendo is going to take the feedback from this title and fine-tune their next main series game that we should expect around 2022.
