What You Need To Know About Transferring Pokmon To And From Pokmon Home

Pokemon HOME prices and a stunner detail: No trades with Switch

Before we get started, here are some basics about transferring Pokémon to – and from – Pokémon Home.

  • Though Pokémon Home can transfer Pokémon all the way from the Game Boy Advance era with a bit of planning, it’s worth knowing the directly compatible games with Pokémon Home ahead of time, which you can see at a glance with this image :
  • Though Pokémon Bank is free until March 12th, 2020 with the launch of Pokémon Home, you still need to have a Premium subscription to Pokémon Home to complete the final move from Bank to Home. A little sneaky, but still an offer worth taking up if you want to bring everything up to date.
  • Pokémon Home requires a Nintendo Account whether you’re logging into the Nintendo Switch and mobile apps, and as a result, allows you to view your collection on either. Also, since Bank requires a Moving Key to link accounts, in theory your 3DS doesn’t need to share the same Nintendo Account to bring them across – though it’s likely your Switch saves do.

How Do I Trade Pokmon With Other People

You can only trade Pokémon from the mobile app, but there are multiple ways to trade:

  • Wonder Box: Place up to three Pokémon in the box and have them randomly traded with another player. This is similar to the Wonder Trade system in Pokémon games.
  • Global Trade System : Put a Pokémon up for trade while requesting a specific Pokémon in return. You can also search for a Pokémon youre looking for, see what others are asking for, and trade with them.
  • Room Trade: Trade with a small room of other players. Your Pokémon will randomly be traded among the players in the room. Only premium players can host a Room Trade, though basic subscription players can join them.
  • Friend Trade: Trade locally with somebody on your friends list.

Placing Pokmon In Wonder Trade

  • Open Pokémon HOME.
  • Tap the screen to get past the start menu.

  • When the main menu loads, tap on Trade in the top left corner of the screen.

    No. Pokémon Go has stated:

To bar some Trainers from continually re-rolling a Pokémons stats through trade. However, all Pokémon cannot be traded again. This feature incentivizes trading without giving a significant advantage to one Trainer over another.

So its one-and-done, to prevent exactly that.

Now you’ve got the Pokemon you want to trade up to Pokemon Home on one of the Gen 4 games or the Gen 2 remakes, it’s time to get them onto Pokemon Black, Black 2, White, or White 2 . Once again, this is a one-way transfer so you can’t transfer them back once they’ve been brought forward.

In order to do this trade, you need to have two Nintendo DS consoles. One console needs to have the Gen 4 game inserted, while the other needs the Gen 5 game.

    In-game requirements

In any of the four Gen 5 games, you need to ensure you’ve beaten the Elite Four and entered the Hall of Fame. Then head to the Poke Transfer Lab on Route 15. Talk to the scientist at the top of the lab.

    How to trade

Once you’ve done that, select the option to use another Nintendo DS then select DS Wireless Communications. Turn on the other console and select DS Download Play. Select the game with the same ID number as your Gen 5 game in the first console, then select Yes. Pick the six Pokemon you wish to transfer across then you’ll be introduced to a minigame.

How Do I Move Pokmon From Pokmon Home To Pokmon Sword And Shield

Once you’ve moved Pokémon to Pokémon HOME from Sword and Shield or other sources, compatible Pokémon can easily be transferred back to Sword and Shield by connecting with the game again and dragging your chosen Pokémon to the game’s boxes. Remember that only Pokémon present in the Galar Pokédex can be moved to Pokémon Sword and Shield.

Also remember that POKÉMON TRANSFERRED FROM LET’S GO PIKACHU AND EEVEE CANNOT BE MOVED BACK TO THOSE GAMES ONCE YOU’VE MOVED THEM TO SWORD AND SHIELD .

    How To Use Trade Rooms

We explained the basics of the Room Trade feature here, but theres clearly more than just hopping into a room together and swapping creatures. These Trade Rooms are basically mini Wonder Trade systems in a way, and theres a lot of things that can be quite confusing. So lets get into the nitty gritty, starting with your choices for how to manage Trade Rooms.

After selecting the Room Trade feature you can either start your own public room, join one with a code, scan someones code to join them, or join a random open room. No matter which you choose the system will perform similarly. First off, each room can either be setup where you see which Pokémon the other players have picked, or they are kept hidden.

After everyone loads up into the same Trade Room a timer will count down to when you can pick the Pokémon you wish to trade. Let it expire then pick whichever character youre willing to give up. The other players will do the same, and once they do or the timer runs out all the Pokémon will be jumbled together and passed out to all the players. So basically, if you have five trainers in a Trade Room you are performing a random, Wonder Trade with only those five players.

And thats how to use trade rooms in Pokémon Home.

Pokemon Sword Shield Let’s Go Pikachu And Let’s Go Eevee

    pokemon home trade

Since Pokemon Sword and Shield, and Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee are on the Nintendo Switch, the process for transferring Pokemon from those games to Pokemon Home is considerably easier. Be wary that while Pokemon from Let’s Go can be moved to Sword and Shield, they can’t then be transferred back to Let’s Go only Sword and Shield have the ability to transfer to and fro.

On Pokemon Home as long as you’re using it on the same Nintendo Switch console as your Pokemon Sword and Shield or Pokemon Let’s Go save files select Pokemon from the main menu. This will display your relevant save files, and selecting either one will show your Pokemon Home boxes on the left along with your in-game boxes on the right. Drag and drop any Pokemon you like from one to the other, then hit + to save. Any Pokemon that aren’t currently in the Pokemon Sword and Shield Pokedex cannot be brought forward into it though.

That’s all there is to it! A seriously convoluted process if you want to bring forward some of your oldest Pokemon, but worth it to have your best pals with you in the latest games. Hopefully, when Gen 9 eventually rolls around, Nintendo will stick with the Pokemon Home service to keep things simple!
