Here’s How To Collect Mega Energy
There are a few different ways you can collect Mega Energy, though it’s important to note that it’s not always a quick process and it might take some time to collect enough for a Mega Evolution on your Pokémon of choice. You’ll also have to make sure you’re collecting the right Mega Energy before evolving.
One of the key methods to obtaining Mega Energy is by joining Mega Raid battles. These are usually easy to locate on the map, indicated by the Mega icon.
To find Mega Raids near you, open the “Nearby” tab on the map and choose “Raids.” This will show all available local raids you can join.
Once you join a Mega Raid, you’ll want to defeat the Mega Raid Boss as quickly as possible, so be sure to stack your team before going into battle. The faster you defeat the Boss, the more Mega Energy you’ll receive.
You can also receive Mega Energy by completing certain research tasks. These rotate and change frequently, so check often to see what rewards you could receive for different tasks.
The last way to receive Mega Energy is by walking your buddy. This only works if the Pokémon that is your buddy has previously gone through a Mega Evolution, meaning it’s not a reliable method if you’re trying to achieve the evolution for the first time.
How To Mega Evolve A Pokemon
Mega Energy is needed when Mega Evolving a Pokemon. Mega Energy is specific to Pokemon, meaning that you will need a given Pokemon’s distinct Mega Energy to complete a Mega Evolution, as it is not a general resource that can be used by any Pokemon.
The amount of Mega Energy needed varies depending on the Pokemon, but it only has to be spent once with the latest update. Mega Energy can be obtained through the following in-game activities:
- Winning Mega Raids.
- Completing specific research tasks.
- Adventuring with a Buddy Pokemon that can Mega Evolve.
Following the Mega Evolution of a Pokemon, there will be a rest period before you are able to Mega Evolve this Pokemon again. Although this cooldown may be lengthy , this system is preferred to what was in place prior to the most recent update requiring you to spend Mega Energy each time you Mega Evolved. That being said, you can and Mega Evolve again using Mega Energy the amount required decreasing as your remaining rest time does.
Trainers can Mega Evolve a Pokemon from either the Pokemon menu or Raid/Battle prep screens.
You can only Mega Evolve one Pokemon at any given time.
What Are Mega Levels
The newly introduced Mega Levels system in Pokemon Go provides players with an incentive to Mega Evolve their Pokemon as much as possible. Each time a Pokemon is Mega Evolved, they will gain progress toward their next Mega Level providing Pokemon with three different Mega Levels: Base Level, High Level, and Max Level.
When your Pokemon reaches a new Mega Level, they will gain more bonuses and improve their existing bonuses that are active when they are Mega-Evolved. Again, this will vary depending on the Pokemon that you are using.
Additionally, each time a Pokemon’s Mega Level is increased, the rest period required between Mega Evolutions is decreased allowing for more frequent uses and bonuses when reaching higher Mega Levels.

Pokmon Go: The Best Team For Ultra League
After the release of Mega Evolution in Pokemon Go, Niantic added another method of obtaining Mega Energy: by utilizing the Buddy system in the game. Players that walk around with their powerful fighters can get one Mega Energy if they previously Mega Evolved that species.
Niantic may also occasionally give users a certain Mega Energy prize for finishing a particular Timed or Field Research. These are rare and hard to come across. Therefore, whenever a trainer comes across a Field Research offering Mega Energy, they should complete it as soon as possible.
How To Mega Evolve
To Mega Evolve a Pokémon, you simply need the required Mega Energy listed for that Pokémon. Once you pay the Mega Energy cost to Mega Evolve a Pokémon, you will not have to pay the cost to do so again, though its recharge time will depend on its Mega Evolution Level .

Mega Evolution In Pokmon Go
On August 27, 2020, Mega Evolution finally arrived, confirming some of what was suspected, some of what dataminers had found, and more. Mega Raids were added and the ability to Mega Evolve some species was added as well. Mega Evolution looks a little different in Pokémon Go than it did in the core games, but we have everything you need to know about how Mega Evolution works and how to make the most of it in Pokémon Go.
Ideal Methods To Get Mega Charizard Energy In Pokemon Go
In general, there are three ways that trainers can get Mega Charizard Energy. They are as follows:
- Defeat Mega Charizard in Raids
- Obtain Mega Charizard Energy through special research tasks
- Walk with a Charizard that has already been Mega evolved
This is, unfortunately, going to make January a very bad month to grind Mega Charizard Energy. Mega Aerodactyl will be taking the Mega Raid slot for the rest of the month, and none of the timed or field research tasks give Mega Charizard Energy as a reward.
Therefore, the only way to farm some Mega Charizard Energy is to walk with a Charizard which has Mega evolved before.
The nice aspect about this method is that trainers will get more value out of the energy they collect. Charizard needs 200 Mega Energy to Mega evolve for the first time. Afterwards, though, it will only take 40 Mega Energy.
Any trainers who want to Mega evolve their Charizard for the first time might have to wait a while, but it never hurts to be prepared. The quicker a trainer beats a Mega Pokemon in a Raid, the more Mega Energy they will be rewarded with.

How Do You Mega Evolve Pokemon In Go
As previously mentioned, Mega Evolution works a bit differently in Pokemon Go than in the mainline Pokemon games. Rather than a Mega Stone, you’ll need to gather a new resource called Mega Energy to Mega Evolve your Pokemon. You’ll receive Mega Energy by participating in Mega Raid Battles, which feature a Mega-Evolved Pokemon as the Raid boss. The faster your team is able to defeat the Mega Raid, the more Mega Energy you’ll receive as a reward.
Once you’ve amassed enough Mega Energy, you’ll be able to Mega Evolve the corresponding Pokemon. Unlike in the mainline games, Pokemon will remain Mega Evolved in Pokemon Go for a limited time, even outside of battle. As such, you’ll be able to see your Mega-Evolved Pokemon following you around on the map if you set it as a Buddy. You’ll also be able to take Snapshots with it and use it in battle against Team Go Rocket, other players, and Raid bosses.
After you Mega Evolve a Pokemon for the first time, its Mega Energy requirement will decrease, letting you Mega Evolve it again in the future much more quickly. It will also be logged in your Mega Pokedex, so you can easily keep track of which Pokemon you’ve Mega Evolved.

For example, you can get more bonus Candies when you catch Pokémon of the same type as your Mega Evolved Pokémon, depending on its Mega Level. You also can get more XP and have an increased chance of getting Candy XL for catching Pokémon of the same type as your Mega Evolved one.
Note that the time it takes before you can Mega Evolve your Pokémon again also depends on its Mega Level. The following is a breakdown of Mega Levels and the bonuses that go with them:
|1 Bonus catch Candy, 10% increased Candy XL chance, 50 bonus XP|
|Max Level||3||2 Bonus catch Candies, 25% increased Candy XL chance, 100 bonus XP|
