Magikarp Tamamushi University Promo Card
Released only in Japan as a promotional card for the Tamamushi University Hyper Test in 1998. The contestants were separated in Pokémon gyms, then they competed with each other and the winners went on to the next day. Then, if they won during the second day, they would receive the Magikarp card.
This card can be worth at anywhere from $2,000 to $4,000, and only around a 1,000 were ever made for distribution. Its unknown if all 1,000 were distributed or if there are 1,000 left. So heads up if you have it.
Tropical Mega Battle Tropical Wind Promo

Long before The Pokemon Company solidified the TCG competitive scene into the World Championships in 2004, one of Japans earlier iterations of the contest was known as the Tropical Mega Battle. In 1999, the tournament was held in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Only 50 players from various countries around the world were invited to compete against one another. Because various Trophy Pokemon cards were given out at the event, the Tropical Wind iteration is incredibly unique. The collectible resurfaced in a PWCC auction in October 2020 and sold for a mouth-watering $65,100.

Psa 10 Kangaskhan Holo Family Event Trophy Card: $225000
Frustratingly for many people, some of the most valuable cards today are those that were given away as cheap, disposable rewards back in the ’90s and early ’00s. A good example of this is the family event trophy prize Kagaskhan, which was given away to parent/child teams who participated in the 1998 Japanese Mega Battle tournament. An important reason behind its value is the expansion symbol to the bottom right of the art this logo was only used on the earliest of Japanese cards, making cards with it, like Kangaskhan, exceedingly rare. The PSA has only ever identified 45 copies of the card, and just 11 given the illusive PSA 10 grade.
At auction, Kangaskhan’s received between $50,000 and $150,000, for those coveted PSA10-graded copies.
World Championship Master’s Key
A copy of the Master’s Key card sold for more than $25,000 in August of 2020. Unlike most cards sold at auction, this one wasn’t graded by the PSA and was instead appraised by Beckett. Whether or not a copy still sealed in the original trophy case would have fetched more remains to be seen, though, given the card’s value, it’s perhaps a little surprising that the seller opted to open it up.
The Master’s Key was originally handed out to contestants at the 2010 Pokemon World Championships. The event took place in Hawaii and was contested by just 36 players. As a result, the card is incredibly rare, with only nine GEM-MT 10 copies – the highest grade that can be handed out by the PSA – in existence.

Ex Deoxys Gold Star Rayquaza Holographic
While first-generation Pokémon typically get all the hype, this Rayquaza card is basically just as rare as the most coveted first edition cards, with only 47 PSA 10-graded copies recorded in circulation. The mascot for 2004s Pokémon Emerald, mint condition copies of this powerful card have been sold for up to $44,400 .

While the English version of the TCG Base Set had the coveted 1st Edition stamped cards, the original run of the 1996 Japanese release simply had no symbol at all. Called No Rarity, the scarce artifacts are truly the first Pokemon cards to ever be made.
A Venusaur from this original batch went up for sale at PWCC Auctions on November 18th, 2021, and sold for a jaw-dropping $55,000 a record for the beloved Kanto starter Pokemon. According to PSA, the grade 10 collectible is only one of 5 to exist in the entire world.
As if this collectors item wasnt special enough, the casing on the outside was also autographed by the cards original artist Mitsuhiro Arita. This is truly a one-of-a-kind artifact that any Venusaur fan would die to have in their collection.

Pokemon Japanese Bandai Carddass Vending Prism Red Charizard
Sold in January, 2021 for $30,100
Founded in 1950, Bandai is a Japanese toy maker that produced a series of Pokemon cards in September 1996 that pre-dated the official launch of the Pokemon Trading Card Game that followed in October 1996.
To distribute the cards, Bandai utilized a network of vending machines, or carddass, as they called them.
There are hundreds of Bandai carddass Pokemon cards to collect, but the most desirable of them all is the prism Charizard.
In one of the earliest appearances of the iconic character, Charizard roars and breathes fire, creating an image that really pops.
Pokmon Base Set 1st Edition Shadowless Holo Nidoking #11
A dual-type poison and ground Pokémon that is the evolved form of Nidoran, Nidoking is classed as a grass-type for the purposes of this card.
This means that it comes wrapped in the green background you would expect, although the foil is more reminiscent of a burning flame thanks to the orange and yellow that sparkles.
It might not have been the most popular Pokémon when it was originally released, but its one of the more valuable in the present day.
Just 90 have earned the elusive gem mint grade from PSA.

Pokemon Japanese Topsun Holofoil Charizard
Sold in October, 2020 for $37,600
The Charizard is the most desirable Topsun prism holofoil card.
You’ll notice it features the same imagery used for the cover art of the Pokemon Red videogame released on the Nintendo Game Boy in Japan in 1996.
As mentioned earlier regarding the Topsun prism holofoil Blastoise, these cards feature a 1995 trademark date.
Still, most believe Top-Seika didn’t distribute them until 1997, after the official Pokemon Trading Card Game launched in 1996.

Beginning in 2003, the Pokemon Players Club replaced the Pokemon Fan Club and with that change came the release of several exclusive Pokemon PLAY cards.
As players completed certain actions, such as attending an event, hosting an event, winning a battle, or placing in a tournament, they could accumulate experience points.
Once a player had acquired a certain number of points, he or she could receive a prize promotional card

Pokmon Japanese Promo Spring Battle Road Victory Ring
The Victory Ring from the 2005 Spring Battle Road is one of the most rare and expensive Pokémon cards. Takumi Akabane redesigned the 2003/2004 promo card, keeping the concept of Pikachu holding the Victory Ring from the earlier versions. Because it was an event exclusive card awarded to the top three competitors in each age bracket, PSA has only graded 26 of them. Of those, only 18 take the PSA 10 Gem Mint designation, including this example that sold in 2021 for $36,000. Shadowless First Edition Charizard
Charizard has been a fan-favorite Pokemon since it appeared on the box of the very first games back in 1996. It’s no wonder that this holographic Charizard card is one of the most valuable Pokemon cards of all time.
The normal First Edition holographic Charizard is often a top-seller, but what makes this card special is that it’s missing the shadows around the borders of the art. Shadowless means the card was in the first print run – the second print run is where you see the shadows.
Iconic Auctions, which auctioned off one of these grade 10 mint-condition cards in 2020, described it as “the most coveted” of all cards. The lot sold for $220,575.40 to the retired rapper Logic.

However, a grade 10 shadowless First Edition Charizard smashed these records in March 2022, selling for $420,000. This remains the highest this particular card has sold, and it is the third highest price point ever paid for a Pokemon trading card.
