From the legendary birds of Kanto to the legendary whatever-you-want-to-call-them of Johto . Competitively speaking, the Johto trio are usually seen as much more viable than the birds overall, and that holds true here. The first were coming across is Raikou, which was recently made available to players through the research tasks.

I guess a 19 CP lead doesnt count for much in the long run, and theres very little to choose between these two legendary Electric-types. If they wanted to fight from supremacy, though, Im sure they could convince Chris Hemsworth, in full costume, to referee. Now that would be a sight.

Where To Find It

Unfortunately for anyone who bought Sword rather than Shield, they wont be able to find Tyranitar or any of its pre-evolutions in the game, but they can go online and try their luck with randomized Max Raid battles through other peoples games. In Pokemon Shield, players can find one roaming around Dusty Bowl, though it is possible to obtain a Larvitar fairly early instead. In Giants Set, in the Raid Den hiding behind the large stone pillar, players can find Larvitar inside rare beam dens once two and three-star Raids are available.

Salamence: The Strongest Of The Weakest

A few generations back, in the main games, Salamence was a huge threat. These were the days before Garchomp . Until Salamence transformed into the Mega Croissant , it was completely outclassed. Here in Pokémon Go, however, Mega Pokémon arent a thing, and regular Salamence reaches a formidable max CP of 3,532.

Latias: What No Soul Dew

Latias: Max CP- 3,377

Now, we may have been inundated with legendary Dragon-types over the years, but the Lati twins have always been one of my favorites. Theres just something different about them. They dont fall into the hackneyed trap of trying to look as huge and intimidating as possible, and I can appreciate that.

In the main games, the two are very similar in terms of stats, with Latias leaning more to the defensive and Latios being a little more powerful.

Thats also true here, with Latiass max CP potential of 3,377 lagging a bit behind the power her male counterpart can muster. More on that later, naturally.

Rayquaza: Whats A Mega Stone

Rayquaza: Max CP- 3,645

Oh, come on, Rayquaza. You just had to be Pokémon Gos strongest Dragon-type by a single point, didnt you? Thats so you. Youre the kind of guy who just decides you dont need a Mega Stone to Mega Evolve, after all, just because that showboating life is what youre all about.

There it is, friends. At 3,645 maximum possible CP, Rayquaza just narrowly squeaks past Latios into 7th position. Judging by what we know about these Pokémon from the main games, Id have expected a much bigger gap between the two, but there it is.

One things for sure: If a monster like Rayquaza is way down in 7th, there are some real doozies still to come in this list.

Pokemon Go: Best Rock

Rock is home to some Pokemon that hit hard, making them great as generalists, as well as uber-powerful against the handful of Flying-type Legendaries with a weakness to Rock, like Moltres, Articuno, Zapdos, Lugia, Ho-oh, Yveltal, the Forces of Nature, and more. At lower tiers, theyll also do a great job against Mega Raids like both Mega Charizard forms, and against common gym defenders like Dragonite and Salamence.

Once considered the greatest Rock-type attacker, Tyranitar lost its Rock-type throne to Rampardos in the same way it lost its Dark-type throne to Mega Houndoom and some others. But, its Shadow form places it back on top, so long as it has Smack Down, which can be a harsh barrier, given its exclusivity. Youll also want to watch out for those all-too-common Fighting-types, which have plagued Tyranitar as a double weakness since its introduction in Gen II of the main series. The addition of Fairy-types hasnt helped, either.

For a more obtainable attacker that doesnt need some Elite TMs to be a viable Rock-type attacker, look to the Gen IV Fossil Pokemon, Rampardos. This hard-hitting dinosaur is what knocked Tyranitar off its throne, easily ranking #1 in DPS, even ahead of Shadow Tyranitar and Legendary Terrakion. However, Rampardos plummets down the list in terms of TDO, sitting behind even Pokemon that arent mentioned in this section. Itll hit really hard, but only a few times before going down to one of Rocks many weaknesses.

One of the first legendary Pokémon available through raids and research tasks, Moltres maxes out at a mighty 3,272 CP, putting it at 20th place in the overall power ranking. Thats a dang good effort, whichever way you slice it, and proves that you shouldnt write off the non-Thunderbolt-ing and Tailwind-ing legendary birds. Great work, there.

Dragonite: The Original The Best The Dragon

Dragonite: Max CP- 3,581

Of course, we cant wax lyrics about the dragons of yesteryear without mentioning Dragonite. Compared to its pre-evolutions, this thing fell out of the derp tree, hit every derpy branch on the way down and landed in a haystack of derpy hay, a la Assassins creed: Derp, but still. Weve got some real power on our hands here, and weve known it since Lance busted out his own Dragonite back in 1998.

Couple that with the super-rarity of Dratini in Go, and youll expect something really special from Dragonite. Its not likely to disappoint, then, with a max CP of 3,581.

So which Pokemon is the strongest? Well, it’s not a Pokemon currently available in the game. Mewtwo has the strongest max CP with 4,144. The strongest Pokemon players can find is Dragonite, with a max CP of 3,500 even. Coming in third is Mew, another Pokemon not found in the wild, followed by the Legendary Birds Moltres and Zapdos.

After Dragonite, the two next strongest catchable Pokemon are Snorlax with a max CP of 3,112 and Lapras with a max CP of 2,983. Exeggutor and Vaporeon round out the top five.

Of the three Starter Pokemon, Charizard has the highest max CP of 2,602, followed closely by Venusaur with Blastoise bringing in the rear with a max CP of 2,542.
