Pokmon Sun And Moon Qr Codes: How Do They Work

How to Scan QR Codes in Citra (Pokémon Sun & Moon Island Scan)

Using QR codes in the Pokémon Sun and Moon is easy. You can find the new feature on the second page of the lower screen of the Nintendo 3DS. From there, use the 3DS’ built-in camera to record a QR code. Even if it’s not a Pokémon-related code, you should still get some sort of response, but only specially designed codes will help you find Pokémon.

Almost every Pokémon in Sun and Moon has a unique QR code. Once you scan that code into the game, the creature in question will show up in your Pokédex with information on where you can find them. You can also specify the gender of some Pokémon or search for an extra-rare “shiny version.”

Pokémon Sun and Moon also limits you to 10 QR codes per day. That may still sound like plenty, but if you’re planning on binging through the entire list it will still take a while.

Points To Remember While Using Pokemon Qr Codes

  • You can only scan 10 Pokemon QR Codes per day.
  • The scanning is limited to 1 QR code per 2 hours.
  • You will get 10 Points for each scan.
  • After reaching a milestone of 100 points you can use the Island Scan Feature.
  • Island Scan reveals some of the non-Alolan Pokemon for a limited time. And you can catch them within that time period.

Poni Island Scan Pokemon Spawns

  • Eelektross – Poni Grove on Sundays
  • Aggron – Poni Plains on Monday
  • Rotom – Poni Gauntlet on Tuesday
  • Leavanny – Poni Meadow on Wednesday
  • Chesnaught – Exeggutor Island on Thursday
  • Greninja – Poni Wilds on Friday
  • Delphox – Ancient Poni Path on Saturday

With that noted, here are the QR codes again for all the Pokemon in the Alolan Pokedex circa Sun & Moon via Imgur.

You’ll want to make sure you have full access to any island you choose to scan via the story too – the spawn only lasts 1 hour, and if it spawns in a location you’re yet to reach you’ll essentially be out of luck. This happened to me once. I missed out. Don’t be like me. Make sure you take level appropriate Pokemon to the wild encounter, too. You need Pokémon that will incapacitate but not kill, not one hit KO powerhouses.
