The Pokemon Company hasnt announced when the Pokemon TCG Card Dex will be available to download in other parts of the world, but the application supports several languages, including English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Portuguese. The Pokemon Company says that any card you scan will be displayed in the app in the language youve selected, even if it differs from that on your actual card.

In other news, Pokemon Gos annual Lunar New Year event is now underway, giving players a chance to earn double XP and even find a Shiny Spoink. Niantic has also kicked off a separate Meltan event that makes the Shiny form of the Mythical Pokemon available for the first time.

Setting Up A Custom Pokmon Map Account

The first step is to download the Pokémon Go Desktop Map Application. This application talks to the actual Niantic servers to see which Pokémon are nearby. It requires a real Pokémon account to do this, but you dont want to use your main account in case anything goes wrong, as accounts can be blocked if theyre deemed to have hacked the game.

Still with me? Great.

Register a new Pokémon Trainers Club account on the Pokémon website and use the account briefly in the actual Pokémon Go app to catch your first Pokémon, then log out again. You need to do this, as when the custom app were going to build talks to the Pokémon servers, they need to think its a real person playing the game.

At this stage, you also need to register on Google Maps to get access to the . This API talks to the Pokémon Go Desktop Map Application to get location data and share it with you in a useful way.

What Characteristics Should I Look Out For

If your card has passed all the tests so far, its time to take a closer look. An easy and dependable way to check if a Pokémon card is fake is to compare it to a real card. Look at the two cards and see if there are any easy-to-spot differences. Does the written text on each card match up word-for-word? For example, a fake might have slightly different description text or a different attack than the original or different punctuation.

Also compare the physical characteristics of the card with the original. Is the card in question the same size as the original? If its larger or smaller than a standard card from the set, its likely a fake.

Another important consideration is the cardstock. The hardest element of a counterfeit to recreate is the cardstock. Does the card bend in a similar way or does one feel flimsy and bend more easily? Hold the card in question up to a flashlight. Oftentimes, the light will pass through fakes more than a real card because the cardstock isnt as high quality.

Compare the two cards carefully. A common characteristic of a fake card is lower print quality which can lead to slightly blurry text. Compare the text of the card in question to another card. Does the text look a little blurry? A real card will have clean, crisp printing on the font. Fakes will have lower quality print, which is most visible when looking at the tiny text. Also compare the colours on the cards. Make sure that the color saturation is the same.

Looking Up How Much My Pokemon Cards Are Worth:

If you get too many results that include cards NOT like yours, use the checkboxes to pick the ones just like yours. Choosing a few comparable items by using the checkboxes gives you a much more accurate estimate of what your Pokemon card is worth.

What to do next:

Once youve gone through and searched for the value of your Pokemon cards using the price guide, you have several different options:

If the Pokemon cards are valuable: You can either hold onto the cards, perhaps get them graded if theyre really valuable, and hopefully see them appreciate in value over time. Alternatively, you sell it to a local card shop without getting ripped off since you know its worth. Lastly, you can sell it yourself on eBay to get a competitive price. Read our guide to selling on eBay.

If the Pokemon cards are worthless: A card doesnt have to be worth money to be considered valuable. Each card has sentimental value to someone: where they got it, the deck it was a part of, that time you used it to battle so-and-so a lot of people tend to hang onto them because of the memories. If you want to get rid of your Pokemon cards, they could be worth some memories to a relative or a stranger. Put them on Craigslist, take them to a card shop, donate them, or pass them along to your kids or a relative. Theres still a lot of fun to be had in those dusty Pokemon cards youve been hanging onto!

What Happens After I Select A Match

Once youve selected the match for your card, follow the onscreen prompts to complete your listing. Then well do the heavy lifting of carrying over the listing title and card details to your draft.
