Pok Ball Capture Rates
There are four different types of Poké Ball currently available in Pokémon GO, detailed below:
To bring more clarity to this chart, the target ring size is the size the coloured ring has to be compared to the outer grey ring to trigger the throw bonus.
As you can see though, the size of the coloured ring can vary to trigger the bonus, and the bonus can increase depending on the size.
For example, a nice throw at 80% will have a higher throw bonus than a nice throw at 90%.

Catch Bonuses In A Nutshell
When you try to catch a Pokémon, the goal is to toss your ball inside the shrinking ring around them. But there are special catch bonuses that can help improve your chances of keeping that Pokémon locked inside that Poké Ball rather than breaking free.
There are four catch bonuses: Nice, Great, Excellent, and Curve.
Nice is when the ball lands at the moment the radar circle is at its widest, and gives you 10XP.
Great is when the ball lands in the middle of the radar circle when it’s half-size, and gives you 50XP.
Excellent is when the ball lands in the smallest radar circle and gives you 100XP.
Curve is when your ball curves, and gives you 10XP and a better chance of catching the Pokémon.
Whatever bonus you’re going for, remember to tap and hold on the Poké Ball to start the ring cycle so that you can wait to toss your ball until the ring is at the correct point.

Bigger Closer Pokmon First
Like most things, an Excellent throw can only be achieved by practice and the best way to do that is to go for the closer, bigger Pokémon first. The best practice targets for the excellent throw in Pokémon are Pidgey, Rattata, and Snorlax. Rattata and Pidgey are close enough to make the ring seem less intimidating and Snorlax is large enough to make practice easy.

The Super Spin Curve Ball
For the super spin, you’ll want to spin the Poké Ball in a clockwise or counter-clockwise direction with your finger until it starts vibrating and sparkling. Which direction you spin largely depends on which hand you’re using I find spinning counter-clockwise easier with my left index finger, and clockwise easier with my right index finger.
Once your Poké Ball is vibrating, you’re going to want to flick your finger up the left or right side of your screen; how far up and the speed at which you flick depends on the Pokémon’s distance. If you want to picture it, you’re basically tracing a J or L on the screen.
This move takes a bit of practice, but once you master it, you’ll find you rarely waste Poké Balls in throwing.
Personally, I find the Curve Ball more useful for long-distance Pokémon; for closer Pokémon, I use the method below: the arc.

Learn The L Throw Curve Technique
A certain member of the Pokémon community developed the reliable L Throw technique that reportedly makes it easier to catch Pokémon using a curve throw.
This involves spinning the Poké Ball clockwise, then sliding your finger up the screen to the left of the Pokémon and releasing it when its level with the Pokémon.
Savvy players will want to time their finger slide when the circle is nearing its smallest to grab that increased capture rate too!

How To Get Excellent Throw
USER GUIDE;| Submitted by;BroTaiTom
In the world of Pokémon GO, every ounce of XP matters, whether its from getting that bonus 100 XP you gain from your 100th Pokémon, all the way to the 50 XP you gain from turning a Poke Stop. But do Nice, Great, Excellent and Curve Ball really matter?
I am usually a guy who uses Great Throw, and in no way an expert at this art form of throwing, but I do spend awfully a lot of time in with some of the best Excellent throwers. Not sure if theyre really the best, but when you spend in excess of 100 hours playing the same game with the same people, cognitive bias tends to happen. Even further, the community I play with, holds an playing Excellent Throw competitionon a nightly basis.
The winner of the competition is usually the first person to 10 Excellent Throws . Occasionally teams are formed and the true game then begins. I myself have entered into these competitions, but to no avail: not because I suck but because these guys I play with are so good.
So, I did a bit of math and right from the outset you can immediately see that gaining a catch with a Curve ball and Excellent Throw gives you an additional 110 XP. Thats an incredible 110% of bonus XP per catch. It may not seem like a lot, but in an hour grind session when you put on a Lucky Egg, youre running into some serious power leveling XP.
Heres the guide to getting curve ball excellent throws every time.

How To Get An Excellent Throw Every Time In ‘pokmon Go’
The key to landing an excellent throw is to watch the colored circle that appears when you go to capture a Pokémon. The circle’s color will indicate the difficulty of the Pokémon you’re attempting to catch , while the size of that circle will indicate the quality of the throw you make.
If you throw the Poké Ball while the colored circle is just as large as the outer circle, you’ll receive only a nice throw. A mid-sized circle will land you a great throw, while a very small inner circle will give you an excellent throw.
Before throwing, give yourself a minute to study how quickly the inner circle shrinks, and once you throw the Poké Ball it’ll freeze in place so try to wait until it’s as small as possible.
Of course, practice makes perfect don’t expect to nail this once and be an expert every time you play. The more advanced the Pokémon, the harder it will be to land an excellent throw, so don’t be afraid to practice on less-skilled Pokémon.

Throw Perfect Curveballs With The ‘l Throw’ Technique
Players have recently discovered a technique that allows you to easily throw a Curveball with almost every attempt.
The process is simple; spin the Pokéball going clockwise, then move the ball up the left-most side of the screen, and release at the same height as the Pokémon. Assuming the Pokéemon didn’t move or attack, it should land and start the capture process.
If you position it just right, you’ll also land the ball within the circle, increasing your chances of capture and netting you bonus XP. And of course, if you prefer, you can release the ball on the right-most side of the screen – provided you spin the Pokéball anti-clockwise instead.
YouTube user MegaToys Collector shows the L-throw technique in action:
Curveballs In Pokemon Go: How To Do Them And How To Throw An Excellent Curveball
A curveball is pretty much exactly what you’d imagine in Pokemon Go: it involves putting spin on a Pokeball as you throw it in order to make for something of a trick-shot. A curveball actually also carries a 10 XP bonus when it successfully lands and catches a Pokemon – and when combined with landing Nice, Great and Excellent Throws it’ll raise your chances further still of catching more difficult critters. A successfully landed curveball gives you a 1.7x bonus to your potential catch percentage – because of course, under the hood, Pokemon Go is all about the numbers.
In order to toss a curveball in Pokemon Go, hold the ball still in front of you with your finger on it and spin it in place, rotating around while maintaining contact with your device screen. When you then throw, the ball will curve based on the spin you put on it – it’ll curve left for clockwise spin and right for anti-clockwise spin. Throw in the opposite direction of the spin in order to send the ball to the middle of the screen.

A bit competition, pressure and focus goes a long way to improving that Excellent regardless of the outcome of the competition.

Pokémon GO has a basic mechanic that is that of excellent launches. Niantics video game sometimes presents extraordinary difficulties when it comes to capturing legendary creatures; Especially when it comes to the rewards in research and in Level 5 raid engagements because they have a very, very low capture rate .
Therefore, the better our launch, the easier it will be for it to be a successful capture. The best shots are the Excellent type; that is, the throw that is made when the circle is as closed as possible. Now how do you make great pitches end up failing?

Keep An Eye On The Ring
It is very important to keep an eye on the target ring. You will see the target ring on different body places of different Pokemon. Some Pokemon will have the target ring at the top, some in the middle, and some at below. So, you will have to throw the Pokeball regarding the position of the target ball. It is necessary.
