St Edition English Base Charizard $11233

Are you surprised the 1st Edition Zard didnt take top billing? Although this card was dethroned earlier this year as the record-selling Charizard, it still commands massive money even with its population report. The English 1st Edition Base Charizard is easily the most popular of all the Charizards ever printed. Actually, its the most popular Pokémon card ever. The 1st Edition Base Pokémon cards were released at a time when Pokémon was catching fire. By the time the Base Unlimited cards were released, packs were selling out everywhere. The 1st Edition Charizard has always been the price leader of the Base 1st Edition cards, and that will never change, due to demand. While the biggest recent confirmed sale for a PSA 9 is $75,000.00, most are selling today under $32,000.00. Thats a major discrepancy between the two, but if someone wanted to cross-grade a very clean PSA 9 Charizard with Beckett Grading Services, in hopes of a BGS 9.5, the value could jump north of $80.000.00, depending on the sub-grades. Super Secret Battle No 1 Trainer

The answer to Whats the rarest Pokémon card of all time?

Sold for $90,000 in July 2020

Its unlikely youve heard of Super Secret Battle No. 1 Trainer, and extremely unlikely youve ever seen a copy in person. When it comes to rare Pokémon cards, there are very few cards rarer than this.

No. 1 Trainer is a holographic promotional card awarded to finalists in the Secret Super Battle tournament held in Tokyo, Japan in 1999. To earn a place in the competitions finals, which were held in a secret location, players had to first win a regional tournament. Their prize was the No. 1 Trainer card, which granted them access to the finals.

The cards text translates to: The Pokémon Card Game Official Tournaments champion is recognised here, and this honour is praised. By presenting this card, you may gain preferential entry into the Secret Super Battle. The card features the Japanese logo for the Pocket Monsters Trading Card Game, along with artwork of original generation Pokémon Mewtwo by illustrator Hideki Kazama.

This is a card so rare and valuable that Indiana Jones probably had to escape a crumbling temple with it at some point. Its counterpart cards No.2 Trainer and No. 3 Trainer, similarly awarded to winners in Japanese Pokémon tournaments during the late 1990s, are almost as rare and valuable.

How Much are Charizard V and VMAX (Champions Path) Actually Worth? (Super Expensive Pokémon Cards)

A very valuable version of a classic fan-favourite

Sold for $369,000 in December 2020

Shiny Charizard has been one of the Pokémon card games most popular cards since it first released in 1999, so theres no surprise that 20-plus years later, it remains one of the most sought-after cards for collectors and fans alike.

While a number of first-edition cards from the Pokémon TCGs early days are worth some money – assuming theyre still in good nick – due to their limited availability and age, this specific version of the holographic Charizard absolutely stands out as one of the rarest and most valuable Pokémon cards ever released.

A PSA 10 Base Set 1st Edition Charizard just sold at auction with an ending bid of $183,812.00 via . Including the 20% buyer’s premium, the total transaction value exceeds $220k. As of now, this is the highest known sale of the card.

What Makes The 1st Edition Holographic Dark Charizard So Valuable

Shortly after the release of Base Set, we had Jungle, then Fossil. Base Set 2 was was met with disappoint among fans hoping for something new. Thankfully, the 2000 Team Rocket set hit a home run, with edgier artwork and the introduction of Dark Pokemon.

The 1st Edition Dark Charizard is an iconic card. Its the first time wed seen something a bit different from Mitsuhiro Aritas OG design. This time Ken Sugimori opted for devilish looking Charizard that almost looks like hes considering whether to attack, or fly off into the night sky. The more you look at it, the more youre immersed into the scene. It really is clever artwork and widely appreciated among fans.

Because of its popularity, theres a decent number of PSA 10s out there, but still, there are 3x as many PSA 9s.

For many, myself included, Team Rocket is one of the best vintage Pokemon sets, and as such, Dark Charizard will always be a highly valuable and desired card.

The most powerful of the original Pokémon, only the cards saw above tend to be as valuable.

What About Your Cards

“The regular Charizard card might be worth around £300,” Dan, from trading cards and collectibles shop Game HQ, tells Newsbeat.

“Most cards that people have will be the mass-produced ones so they wont be worth as much, but they can still be worth a lot of money as long as the cards are in good condition.

It might be time to ask your mum to dig out your old stuff, but if you do, which ones should you look out for?

Tamamushi University Magikarp: $50000

Charizard

The Tamamushi University Magikarp card is so rare that despite the fact that it depicts a frankly awful Pokemon, its worth ridiculous sums of money. Why the high price? Well, the University Magikarp was a promotional card that saw very limited distribution at a Japanese tournament in the late 1990s.

In total, 1000 of the cards were produced but far fewer were actually awarded and many were just stowed away forever. Barely any of these rare Magikarp cards are still in circulation today, and its incredibly rare to see new ones show up. At the moment, PSA Cards Price Guide chart lists perfectly-preserved cards to have sold for around $50,000, while copies with NM-MT 8 ratings still sell for amazing heights of $12,000.

Topsun Charizard Blue Back No Number Error

Sold in January, 2021 for $493,230

As with the other Topsun cards mentioned earlier on this list, Top-Seika didn’t distribute them until 1997, even though their copyright date reads 1995.

And since they weren’t part of the official Pokemon Trading Card Game, they are considered more in the realm of novelty collectible cards.

Still, an early Pokemon card is an early Pokemon card…

And, whether you’re talking about the prism holos, green-backs, or blue-backs, collectors are willing to pay thousands of dollars for several of the Topsun cards when graded in PSA 10 condition.

But a price tag of thousands of dollars turned out to be quite an understatement in January 2021 when Goldin Auctions sold the most desirable of them all, the only “no number error” blue-back Charizard on record in a PSA 10 holder, for a whopping $493,230.

The blue-back checklist contains 150 numbered cards in total, but for some reason, about 50 of the characters were also printed with no number on them by mistake.

So, while the standard blue-back Charizard should contain a “006” on it in the upper-left of the front of the card, the “no number error” will be blank.

If you can find one and are lucky enough to have it graded PSA 10, you could be looking at life-changing money.

Rare Charizard Pokmon Card Sells For $300000 On Ebay

It might be worth checking your old collection.

A rare first-edition Charizard Pokémon card in perfect condition was sold for over $300,000 on eBay yesterday.

Pokémon cards have seen a surge in popularity over the past year. Many people have been stuck inside because of the COVID-19 pandemic, which gave them more time to explore old hobbies. Others were exposed to Pokemon cards through streamers and content creators opening packs and searching for lottery cards. This resurgence has allowed lucky individuals to sell rare cards for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Nintendo Life reported that a rare 1999 holographic Charizard Pokemon card sold for $300,000 on eBay yesterday. The card was a Shadowless First Edition Holo variant Charizard with a PSA 10 Gem Mint rating. This means it was one of the rarest versions of that particular card ever released and in the best possible condition.

The card received 124 bids before the auction ended on March 28 and sold for $311,800. While this was an expensive card, its not the most expensive Pokémon card ever sold. That honor is held by a rare Blastoise card that sold for $360,000 in January.

The resurgence of Pokémon cards has shown no signs of slowing down yet with fans everywhere scrambling to get their hands on physical cards. If you collected or played Pokémon when you were a kid, it might be worth digging out your old cards to see if you have any hidden gems.

Pokemon Card Sold By Country

With no surprise, 62.19% of Pokemon cards were sold from the United States and Japan coming in second with 19.62%. Canada came in third with 7.71% of total cards sold.

Country
$44,579.17$68.27

For the bigger countries like Japan, the United States, Canada and Australiait kind of got interesting.

The United States sold the most at $44,579.17 but only had an average of $66.46. This is less than the total average sold.

Japan and Australia had higher averages at $93.73 and $89.17 respectively.

Canadas average was on the lower side at $55.53. Canadians seem to be selling their cards but arent selling valuable pokemon cards.

It was also interesting to see that Canada and Australia had around the same number of items sold, but Australia had a 60% higher average than Canada.

This could mean that Australians have more valuable Pokémon cards than Canadians.

Same with Japan and the United States.

Japan had a 27% higher average cost than the United States but only had 19.62% of items sold compared to the United States which had 62% of the items sold.

We also looked at One37pm and found that the most valuable collector Pokemon cards are printed in Japanese .

How To Know If Your Charizard Pokmon Card Is Rare And Valuable Or Not

Charizard

Paul Tassi

Time is a flat circle, and it seems like just yesterday I was spending my allowance every week on Pokémon cards in junior high. Well, now Pokémon cards, and opening them on Twitch streams and in YouTube videos, are all the rage again, and it turns out some of those cards you got as a kid may be valuable today, if you kept themand kept them in good shape.

Wading into the exact valuation of all Pokémon cards is a swamp that its hard to emerge from, so I thought Id focus on one particular type of card which was coveted when I was a kid. I saved it because I thought it might be worth something someday, and it turns out I was right. Well, depending on which version you have.

Here is a gradient scale on which of the old school Charizard cards are the most and least valuable. Exact figures for selling prices are hard to pin down. The low end might be a few hundred, the higher end for the rarest Charizard editions can be tens of thousands, if not over $100K for true perfection. The prices below are estimates and again, its a wide range. If yours isnt here at all, it may be too common to be worth all that much. These cards are also usually PSA 9-10 graded meaning they have to be in stellar condition, not just sitting in a shoebox somewhere, in order to see these ranges of prices.
