Random: New Study Uncovers The Most Popular Pokmon By Country
Image: The Toy Zone
Ever wondered which Pokémon is the favourite amongst the people in your home country? Well, it looks like you’re in luck.
The folks over at The Toy Zone have conducted a study that explores the popularity of Pokémon’s Generation 1 monsters all around the globe. To determine which Pokémon tops each country’s popularity charts, the study used Google Search volume data to “identify the Pokémon ranked highest above the global search average”. The data was collected in February 2021.
So, while it might not be an exact science, let’s take a look at how different regions got on, shall we?
Pikachu unsurprisingly rules the rankings globally, although it’s interesting to see little pockets around the world where other creatures seem to dominate. In Europe, for example, plenty of countries seem to like Charizard, while Mew is doing pretty well for itself in the Middle East and Central Asia. Check out the full map below:
Eevee Holds Unprecedented Potential
It’s interesting to see how some Pokémon are just able to connect more with audiences and leave a greater impact than others, even if it’s not in the series for a ton of time. Eevee is a Pokémon that’s found popularity because of how it can evolve into several different Pokémon depending on what Stone is used with it. No main character in the series possesses an Eevee, but it shows up every so often in a new context and usually results in a memorable episode. It’s turned into a surprisingly popular Pokémon.

Palkia Is The Ruler Of Space Itself
It’s one thing when legendary Pokémon control the elements that comprise the planet, but when it comes to Pokémon like Palkia and Dialga, they go even beyond the planet and control things like space and time. In Pokémon’s lore, Palkia is seen as the ruler and creator of the very fabric of space itself. It can even alter and warp space as it sees fit.
Most Popular Pokemon In Australia
Down under in Australia, theres another unexpected choice, as Machamp takes the top spot.
While its hard to pinpoint an exact reason for this, Machamp does remain a popular choice in Pokemon Gos Battle League, and is still arguably the most recognizable Fighting-type in the franchise to this day.

Rock: Mega Tyranitar And Mega Diancie
Mega Evolutions dominate lists like these, and it’s no different amongst Rock-types. Mega Diancie and Mega Tyranitar share this spot, tied a base stat total of 700 each.
Both of them excel at physical defense, with Mega Diancie at 160 and Mega Tyranitar at 164. It’s going to require some intense damage to take either of these powerful Rock-types down.
Pokmon Sword And Shield
Starter Pokémon: Grookey, Scorbunny, Sobble
The latest Pokémon games are the first mainline titles released as a Nintendo Switch game, and Game Freak has finally realized our longtime dream of having a fully 3D Pokémon adventure on a home console. In the British-themed Galar region, you can venture into the new Wild area and capture monsters, or follow the set pathways from town to town that have been in the series since the very beginning. Either way, Pokémon are now just out and about instead of being hidden in randomized encounters, so frustration is greatly reduced.
With 400 Pokémon to catch and the addition of the Dynamax system to power up your monsters, Pokémon Sword and Shield can keep you busy for hours. However, the removal of longtime monsters from the game, including Psyduck and Squirtle, does mean you cant catch em all this time. Fortunately, with the arrival of the games Isle of Armor;DLC; and Crown Tundra DLC, youll have a chance to see new environments in the Galar region, catch new Pokémon, and battle new foes.

Steel: Zacian And Zamazenta
While this spot was previously held by Mega Metagross, two newer Pokemon have since taken it. Zacian and Zamazenta, when in their Crowned forms, have a massive 720 base stat total.
Both are Steel-types, but have different secondary typing. Zacian is Steel/Fairy-type, while Zamazenta is Steel/Fighting. Both tie with Arceus for the fourth-highest base stat total of any obtainable Pokemon.
Pokmon Omega Ruby And Alpha Sapphire
Starters: Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip
Those of us who preferred Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire were invited back to the game with Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. The game is part of the sixth generation of Pokémon games and was played on the Nintendo 3DS. Although the game is a remake, Game Freak worked to ensure that it had some of the changes from later generations.
We saw Pokémon with split types from the fourth generation and had unlimited TM usage and triple battles from the fifth generation. They also added features from;Pokémon;X and Y, such as Super Training and Mega Evolution. One of the new mechanics that stood out was the ability to use Latios or Latias to fly around Hoenn. This is because when using these Pokémon to fly, we could run into mirage spots, which had Pokémon that werent otherwise available in the Hoenn region. This includes numerous legendary Pokémon from previous generations.

Bug: Genesect Mega Heracross Mega Scizor And Mega Pinsir
Bug-types are often underrated, considered a weak type without much utility. However, these Bug-types seem to want to challenge that perception.
A four-way tie for this spot sees Genesect, Mega Pinsir, Mega Heracross, and Mega Scizor sharing the entry with a base stat total of 600 each. With different typing, they have differing uses, but they shouldn’t be underestimated.
Pokmon Heartgold & Soulsilver
The seventh-best Pokémon game of all time is Pokémon Heart Gold and Silver.
Released on the Nintendo DS in 2009, HeartGold and SoulSilver are the improved versions of Pokémon Gold and Silver, which were released in 1999.
Both games were developed by Game Freak and are part of the fourth generation of the Pokémon video game series.
It takes place in the Johto and Kanto regions and the trainers goal is to become the best trainer in both regions. Along the way, trainers will capture, raise, battle and catalogue all sorts of Pokémon, whilst defeating their trainers.

Pokmon White/black And White/black 2
Starter Pokémon: Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott
Generation five was an oddity. It was the first in the series to get a direct sequel, with Black 2 and White 2 releasing a year after the originals. The sequels did retread familiar territory, but told a new story and featured some new areas and new Pokémon. Generation five also holds the record for the most Pokémon, with 156 new Pokémon to catch.
Even more so than Diamond and Pearl, though, gen five, especially the sequels, felt like a stopgap for the series next evolution. While we regard generation five as the worst, we still think its pretty darn good. It didnt introduce much new at all, but the true sequel concept was intriguing nonetheless.
Ash Ketchum Is A Pokmon Master In The Making
There are collectively over 1000 episodes;across the different Pokémon anime series. These shows feature many changes that reflect the evolving sensibilities and Pokémon of each new generation of games. The anime visits new regions and brings forward new trainers, but Ash is the one constant through it all. Hes always the animes protagonist and some other trainers may accomplish more than him, but Ashs slow growth remains satisfying. Hes a character that doesnt always do the right thing, but hes been able to persevere for as long as the anime itself.

We took a hard look at every mainline Pokemon game and determined which ones are just a cut above. Here are all of the best Pokemon games, ranked from not very effective to super effective.

Most Popular Pokemon In Ireland
It seems Charizard is a major frontrunner in this study, as it makes a second appearance as the most popular Pokemon in the Republic of Ireland.
Again, nothing too unexpected here. The Gen 1 creature has appeared as a playable fighter in both the Super Smash Bros. series and Pokken Tournament DX, which is a testament to its continued popularity.
A Reorganized Chart Of The Original 150
To top off the entire study by TheToyZone they have a reorganized chart of the original 150. The chart shows the total percentage that each Pokémon was searched for around the world. Yveltal Will Suck The Life Force From The Planet
So;many of the legendary Pokémon throughout the series represent a certain duality as they are the yin and yang to each other. Xerneas can effortlessly provide life, but Yveltal is the influx of that and is a Pokémon that steals life.
