Theres been a lot of talk about Zeraora since the releases of Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. Many players have wondered whether this new mythical Pokemon can even be encountered or caught in the base game. Zeraora, for those unaware, is an electric-type Mythical Pokemon introduced in this latest generation. Unfortunately, it looks like if you want to add Zeraora to your party in either Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon, youll need to get it from some form of event. This will likely be the same kind of Mystery Gift event that was used to dispatch a ton of legendary Pokemon to players last year during the 20th anniversary celebrations.

Nintendo and The Pokemon Company are distributing another special Pokemon this month to Pokemon Ultra Sun and Moon players.

Zeraora is not available to catch in-game which makes it worth the trip to your local GAME or GameStop store.

Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon players in North America can grab a code for Mythical Zeraora at their local GameStop between October 19 and November 9.

UK residents should visit their local GAME from today through November 15.

The level 50, bipedal feline Pokemon is an Electric-type which can use electricity gathered from its surroundings. This is due to its Volt Absorb ability.

It is the only Pokemon which knows the move Plasma Fists. The attack is so powerful, it changes all Normal-type attacks into Electric-type attacks for that turn. Zeraora is also holding an Air Balloon, making it immune to Ground-type moves which are usually rather effective against Electric-types.

Other moves are Thunder Punch, Close Combat, and Thunder.

Zeraora, the mythical creature that was revealed all the way back in April of this year, will become available on that date by way of a mystery gift distribution event for Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon until November 15. Just grab your game, head to Best Buy or GameStop and nab it further details of exactly how will come later. Game Freak notes that its a level 50 Pokemon with Close Combat, Thunder, Thunder Punch, and Plasma Fists.

In case you havent been keeping track over the course of Pokemons 22 year history, Zeraora is creature number 807 in the National Pokedex. It feels like there should be more, right? Well Game Freak has gotten away with not including forms and Mega Evolutions in the official listing.

Zeraora is the latest, and last, gen 6 Pokemon. It is a legendary electric-type monster, the fifth of its kind. Its first major appearance was in the Japanese release of Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us, and its upcoming appearance in the games will mark the first time it has been seen in the West.

When you collect this electrifying creature, it will be at level 50 with Plasma Fists, Thunder Punch, Close Combat, and Thunder as its moves. How Do You Get Zeraora

Zeraora has been the prize in two separate events in Pokemon games thus far.

In 2018, Zeraora was introduced in an in-person giveaway event where the Pokemon could be obtained varied from region to region. In North America, Zeraora could be obtained at Gamestop and EB Games retailers. In Europe, the Pokemon could be acquired by visiting specific retailers or by attending certain events depending on the country.

In 2020, Zeraora was made available again in Pokemon Sword and Shield as part of a promotional event for the launch of Pokemon HOME. The mythical Pokemon was part of a global challenge where one million players needed to defeat Zeraora, who was added to event Max Raid Dens in the wild area.

If players transferred Pokemon between either Sword and Shield and Pokemon HOME and were among the players to defeat the Max Raid Den Zeraora, they received a shiny Zeraora in their Pokemon HOME box.

Transfer From Ultra Sun Or Moon

Zeraora was first made available for Pokémon Ultra Sun & Moon in 2018 during a special giveaway event. As a Mythical, Zeraora cannot breed. This means that most players have had one Zeraora locked away in their 3DS for about a year and a half. The subscription service Pokémon Bank allows players to deposit their Zeraora into a cloud-based storage system. Pokémon Home allows it to leave Bank, and the 3DS, behind for good.

Transferring Zeraora from Pokémon Bank to Pokémon Home requires you to have a 3DS, a Nintendo Switch, and working internet. With these requirements met, turn on both Bank and Home. Find the menu options for Bank-to-Home transfer on each device, and follow the instructions given. Essentially, Home will ask you to input a long code into your 3DS and then wait a few minutes for the transfer to happen. Once it does, Zeraora will be waiting in Pokémon Home‘s cloud storage. From there, you can move it to your Sword/Shield‘s storage directly if you wish.

Two things to note: Pokémon Home requires a paid subscription to do 3DS transfers, and once a Pokémon leaves Bank for Home, it can never go back.

Is Zeraora Any Good

Zeraora is a mythical Pokemon and therefore has 600 total base stats, comparable to pseudo legendary Pokemon like Dragonite, Tyranitar, and Metagross. Unlike early mythical Pokemon, Zeraoras stats arent evenly distributed.

This is a good thing, as Zeraoras stats make it a strong sweeper thanks to high attack stats and a strong 143 base speed. Zeraoras movepool is relatively limited when it comes to both regular and special attacks, but it has enough diversity that players can cobble together something solid.

The clear best build for Zeraora includes a Jolly nature and maxed EVs for attack and speed. For moves, Volt Switch, Plasma Fists, Close Combat, and either an elemental punch move or Knock Off offers some hard hits and decent type coverage.

The mainline Pokemon franchise is preparing a major jump to the Nintendo Switch next year, but before it does, Nintendo has one last hurrah planned for Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon on the 3DS. Earlier this year, Nintendo revealed the newest mythical Pokemon, Zeraora, before going silent for a number of months on when it might be released. Today, the company broke that silence, announcing a new distribution event that will let Pokemon players across the US add Zeraora to their rosters.

As it turns out, some action will be required on your part, because obtaining Zeraora isn’t going to be as easy as opening up Mystery Gift in your game and downloading it from Nintendo’s servers. Before you’re able to do that, you’ll need to head to GameStop to get a download code. Those will be available at GameStop locations across the US from October 19 to November 9, giving you three weeks on the nose to stop in and pick one up.

Once you have the code card, you’ll need to scratch off the code on the back and then go to Mystery Gift from the main menu of either Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. From there, selection “Get With Code/Password,” allow Mystery Gift to connect to the internet, and enter the code when prompted. Zeraora will then be added to your game and you can pick it up from any Pokemon Center.

GameStop will be issuing codes to download the new Mythical Pokémon Zeraora into your Pokemon Ultra Sunand Ultra Moon game. You can stop by participating stores to ask for the code between October 19 and November 9.

Upon receiving Zeraora, it will already be at Level 50 and have a special item called the Air Balloon attached to it, which will allow it to nullify Ground-type moves. It will also have a special move called Plasma Fists, which turns all Normal-type attacks into Electric-type attacks for that turn.

The only way to obtain the mythical Pokemon Zeraora is through code distribution. These events are normally done at various retailers, such as GameStop, where you will receive a download code for a Pokemon to use on your copy of the game.
