List Of Pokmon Episodes
Pokémon, known in Japan as Pocket Monsters , is a Japanese anime television series produced by animation studio OLM for TV Tokyo. It is adapted from the Pokémon video game series published by Nintendo. The series follows the young ten-year-old Pokémon trainer Ash Ketchum and his adventures with his electric mouse partner Pikachu , and a varying group of friends in his quest to become a Pokémon Master.
The division between seasons of Pokémon is based on the Japanese version openings of each episode and reflect the actual production season. The English episode numbers are based on their first airing either in syndication, on Kids’ WB, Cartoon Network, Comedy Central, Disney XD or on Netflix. Subsequent episodes of the English version follow the original Japanese order, except where banned episodes are shown.
Here Comes The Squirtle Squad
This is the last of three back-to-back episodes where Ash meets the Kanto starters that become his Pokémon. Here Comes the Squirtle Squad stands out particularly because, well, the SQUIRTLE SQUAD. .
This gang of Squirtles wears sunglasses and wreaks havoc on a nearby town. Theyre led by a Squirtle with sleek, winged sunglasses the very same Squirtle who will eventually join Ashs team. They team up with Team Rockets Meowth to trap Ash and friends.
Ashs Squirtle arguably has the most personality of all his Kanto Pokémon , and this is a stellar introduction to its badass ways.
Showdown At Dark City
Yep, this is the episode featuring Pikachus whirlwind affair with a ketchup bottle. Honestly, it doesnt make much more sense in context. Pikachu takes an odd liking to a bottle of ketchup, Scyther accidentally breaks it to set up that he has a cartoon bulls response to the color red, and Pikachu is mysteriously heartbroken in the process. Memes aside, Showdown at Dark City is one of Pokémons most successful attempts at a plotline it overdosed on in early episodes: the bad/abusive trainer conflict. When early Pokémon took this premise too seriously, results were mostly forgettable. The cartoonishly harsh trainer had to either learn the error of their ways or get smoked in a battle to have their poor Pokémon rescued by Ash. Showdown at Dark City succeeds by expanding the stakes and fully embracing the consequences of such cartoonish villainy, as two rival gyms blow up their Hatfields-and-McCoys-style feud on a town so badly that it turns into a lawless wild west junction where the ketchup of anarchy is the only solution to preventing all-out war. It delivers the same lesson with more lighthearted creativity, giving us a meme that lives on twenty years later!

Pokemon Season : Advanced Challenge
Continuing their journey in the Hoenn region, Ash, May, Max, and Brock had a few adventures in Advanced Challenge but none of which really stood out as that memorable. None, except for the classic two-parter that saw the return of Misty and Togepi The Princess and the Togepi and A Togepi Mirage. While these two episodes were truly epic, they still couldnt boost the season higher than number 10.

Pokemon Indigo League Season 1 Review
Welcome to Saturdays Gaming Entertainment Reviews and we check out the first season of the anime. As Pokémon continues to stay strong in on our minds thanks to Sword and Shield lets go back to a time when the series started. After the successful launch of Pocket Monsters in Japan in 1996, Nintendo was more than ready to bring this over to the North America and Europe. In May 1998, Pokémon Red and Blue got released on both continents and was a smash success. It wasnt long before merchandise in all forms flooded the market and the anime came out. In actuality, the cartoon originally released in 1997 in Japan before 4Kids picked up and translated the show into English. 4kids during that time is often known for their Kirby and Yu Gi Oh anime dub translations and unfortunately this series was one of them. The anime follows a ten year old kid named Ash Ketchum who goes on a journey through the Kanto Region to become a Pokémon Trainer. His goal is to become a master trainer by catching many Pokémon and winning eight gym badges to enter the championship league. Along the way he meets others like himself named Misty and Brock who join him for different reasons. Of course, they will run into Team Rocket of Jesse and James who try desperately to steal Pikachu and hatch their newest schemes.

Charmander The Stray Pokmon
Its one of the first tastes of cruelty we get in the Pokémon world. Its the second in a three-episode arc where Ash gets his Kanto starters, and perhaps the most heartwrenching encounter of all is Charmander.
The poor Charmander has been left to DIE by his old trainer, abandoned on a rock in the middle of a road with a weak tail. When Ash tries to catch it, Charmander refuses to budge. Even as a thunderstorm rages on, Charmander steadfastly waits for his jerk of a trainer, holding a leaf as a little umbrella to keep his tail-flame from extinguishing.
We know it has a happy ending, but man, this episode puts us through the ringer.

Pokemon can be an absolute tearjerker when it wants to be, as a number of episodes in this article showcase. Bye Bye Butterfree was the first to illustrate this side of the anime, and it set a standard that few subsequent episodes have been able to match.
Ash has to let go of his Butterfree, marking the Trainers first experience with losing a Pokemon. Narratively, this is an important character-building moment for Ash thematically, this episode tackles loss and grief in a way that can speak to children. Also, people who grew up playing the Game Boy games might be able to relate to Ashs decision to free Butterfree.

Pokemon Season : Pokemon Black And White
The 14th season of the Pokemon anime, Pokemon Black and White once again saw a major refresh in the look and feel of the show. Ashs character design looked significantly different than it did way back in the first season and the show itself now looked more stylized.
This season also broke new ground for the anime. While previous journeys to new regions would see a mix of new and old Pokemon, when Ash and Pikachu traveled to Unova, with the exception of Pikachu and Meowth, every Pokemon they encountered was an Unova native. Even Officer Jenny and Nurse Joy got a new look! This Only New Pokemon rule forced the writers to think outside the box. They could no longer rely on Pokemon and characters established in the previous 13 seasons. This was uncharted territory for Ash and for the viewer as well.
The Fourth Round Rumble
While kids had to accept early on that the Pokémon anime never really followed the rules established by the game , Ashs fourth match in the Pokémon League turned its weird rule-breaking into next-level entertainment. Both the cast and audience were baffled by the appearance of an itty-bitty Bellsprout with godlike combat capabilities, which used -esque skills to evade or redirect every attack that got thrown its way. This is yet another of the very few battles in early Pokémon to feature a surprising amount of animation with the two combatants facing off hand-to-hand, since it would be impossible to make this little sprout seem threatening otherwise. Of course, the real crowning moment of the fight comes when Bellsprout finally meets its match in a tar-baby-like struggle with Ashs Muk. Seeing this happy sludge pile body-slam his little twig of an opponent is still hilarious, making this by far one of the most entertaining and memorable fights in the show.

Abra And The Psychic Showdown
Ash travels to Saffron City and faces off against Gym Leader Sabrina. In the games, Sabrina is a totally standard Gym Leader who casually mentions her psychic powers and prophecies in the same way designated-type trainers mention their passions. In the anime, though, Sabrina is a totally emotionless, sinister woman who also happens to have a creepy childlike alter-ego with occasionally demonic red eyes sitting on her lap, like some possessed ventriloquist dummy.
When Ash inevitably loses this gym battle, he and his friends are shrunk and placed in a dollhouse, where they encounter dolls with soulless eyes staring at them. Meanwhile, Sabrinas spooky child-self giggles in a manner befitting a horror movie and tries to play with them.
Theyre eventually rescued, and over the next two episodes, Ash sets out on a quest to find a Pokémon that actually has a type advantage at the psychic-type gym instead of just using Pikachu.
This episode also receives a shout-out for Jessie and James fabulous hula dancer disguises.

Pokmon: Indigo League Season 1 Blu
Nostalgia is a huge thing right now Im caught up in it, and many of my friends are as well. Little did I know that a little Blu-ray set would unleash upon me tons of great college memories. Yes, Im a little older than the normal writer on this site and I was in college when Pokémon hit the States I also worked at Kay-Bee Toys at that time. I remember fielding hundreds of questions about Pokémon cards, games and the little action figures, so much that I decided to watch the television show after class. Watching the show got me hooked to the series sadly at the time, I didnt have the funds for the sweet toys or the GameBoy Color games, but man I loved that show. And I still do. Viz Media locked up college nostalgia in a nice little package for me, and Im sure lots of memories for others are tucked away in this set.

Island Of Giant Pokmon
This is third episode in an arc where Ash and the gang go aboard the Saint Anne, but eventually encounter a terrible storm that washes them up on this mysterious island.
The best part of this episode is that the Pokémon talk! Not in the Pikachu has a creepy, cherubic voice-type of way either their normal Pokémon voices are given subtitles so that we can see how they communicate. Its particularly heartwarming, because we get to see the Pokeémons different personalities Charmander, who was left in the rain by his abusive trainer, is more timid, whereas Squirtle is bold and brash Pikachu has undying loyalty to Ash, much like Ekans and Koffing do to Jessie and James.
It also includes the objectively best scene in all of television ever, namely when Bulbasaur and Charmander send Squirtle to talk to the giant roaming Blastoise, and he greets it with, Yo! Brother!

- Ash: Misty, you’re not gonna be a sore loser, aren’t you?
- Misty: I didn’t lose anything! It was just a draw!
- Ash: Well, I’m the one who won the badge!
- Misty: You know you lost with Butterfree!
- Ash: That was just round 1. I made a great comeback!
- Misty: If Team Rocket hadn’t busted in, I would’ve destroyed you!
- Ash: You’re lucky they’ve showed up. You were about to lose!
