How To Find Pokemon Card Worth

Pokmon Neo Genesis 1st Edition Holo Lugia #9

*ARE YOUR POKEMON CARDS VALUABLE?* How To Find Value!

A legendary Pokémon on a legendarily rare Pokémon card

Sold for $144,300 in May 2021

Lugia is one of the most iconic and popular Pokémon in the entire series, having starred on the front of early Game Boy game Pokémon Silver and its Nintendo DS remake SoulSilver. A legendary bird Pokémon from Gen II, Lugia is one of the most powerful and hard-to-find Pokémon that players can catch in the video games – so its only fitting that its Pokémon card is also extremely rare.

The Neo Genesis 1st Edition Holo Lugia #9 Pokémon card is described by auction house PWCC as one of the most difficult Pokémon cards to grade, as the result of a number of errors and misprints that were included in the early runs of the Neo Genesis set for the Pokémon TCG. Later print runs were corrected, but many of the cards from the expansion remain more common in their earlier uncorrected forms.

As of May 2021, PWCC claims that only 41 Gem Mint 10 condition Neo Genesis 1st Edition Holo Lugia #9 cards have ever been graded by PSA, with just three earning the maximum BGS 10 Pristine rating from grading company Beckett Grading Services. The Lugias rarity means that it ranks almost as highly as the legendary first-edition Charizard when it comes to the most valuable Pokémon cards.

The intent of the Item Finder is exactly as it sounds: it aids players in locating items.

While its name and how it helps players find items greatly changed in later Pokémon games, the first edition card merely instructs the player to discard two cards from his or her hand and replace them with a trainer card.

Base Set Shadowless 1st Edition Charizard: $420000

Charizard cards are generally more sought after than others, and it’s been this way since 1999. That’s one reason why this Base Set Charizard card from 1999 is so valuable today. At the PWCC Auction in March of 2020, the card sold for a record-breaking $420,000. However, a few months later, another card would swoop in and grab the World Record title.

Heck, we remember trading our holographic Charizard card for a copy of Pokemon red for the original gameboy. We love Pokemon and the TCG so much that we dedicated our time to creating this website for other people who love it as much as we do.

Beginning your search is simple. You just type the name of the Pokemon you want to lookup, the Pokemon TCG set name, or the name of the rare Pokemon cards you want to see list information on. We will return you the results that we have in our database and you can easily jump to the next Pokemon, card, and set in line. How To Play Pokemon Cards

Here are the basic steps for how to play Pokémon cards:

  • Shuffle the deck of cards and place them face down.
  • Each player has to draw 7 cards from the deck
  • The player who drew the card with the highest number goes first, and the game passes clockwise after that.

If the players turn comes, they must do one of three things:

  • Play a card following specific rules for the attack, defense, or support cards
  • Use a power that they have already played earlier in the game or
  • Draw one additional card from their deck and then discard one previously drawn card to their hand size.
  • Play until someone wins.

The Masked Royal Prize Promo: $18000

This is undoubtedly one of the most recent rare cards, featuring the Masked Royal character from Pokemon Sun & Moon and released as recently as 2017. This is essentially a promotional card that was given out to players in an invitation-only prerelease in Tokyo for the new Shining Legends set, where only 100 copies were made.

Even though this is a relatively normal card by most standards, this short print run means itâs incredibly hard to get, especially since it was handed out in such a restrictive event. As a result, there are actually preserved tweets of players first opening it in places like Pokeboon, while Japanese trading sites like Miyabi Hobby have past listings of the card at Â¥2,000,000, which currently is equal to around $18,000 USD.

Espeon And Umbreon Gold Star Pop Series 5

A pair of Gold Star Pokémon cards from one of the most valuable Pokémon sets of all time

Sold for $22,000 in February 2021

Gold Star Pokémon cards are among the most valuable sets of Pokémon cards in existence and command an incredibly high value as a result. The cards are named after the gold star that appears next to the Pokémons name at the top of the card, which signifies that the card features alternative-colour artwork different from the common version. Only 27 Gold Star cards were released from 2004 to 2007, making them some of the rarest Pokémon cards available.

While all of the Gold Star Pokémon cards are rare, only appearing once in approximately every 88 booster packs for certain Pokémon TCG expansions, the very rarest are the Eeveelutions – the many evolutions into which basic Gen 1 Pokémon Eevee can evolve. And the rarest of the rarest are the original Japanese-language versions of the cards offered to members of the Pokémon Players Club, who could spend points earned by participating in official organised play and tournaments to obtain exclusive cards.

While Eeveelutions Flareon, Jolteon and Vaporeon could be acquired in the EX Power Keepers set released in 2007 via the Pokémon online store, their psychic and dark elemental siblings Espeon and Umbreon could only be picked up by players who collected enough Pokémon Players Club points. The Espeon 025/PLAY card required 40,000 EXP points earned, while Umbreon 026/PLAY was even most pricey at 70,000 points.

Where Should I Sell My Pokemon Cards

In most countries, eBay is a good place to sell Pokemon cards for good money. Many Pokemon traders and collectors keep a close eye on the site, helping you get a good price for your Pokemon cards, especially if you have good pictures and a good listing description.

The issue with trying to sell your cards to a trading card retailer is the business needs to make a decent profit on whatever they buy from you. This means that youre unlikely to get the best price from them, although they might help you to sell your Pokemon cards quickly.

The Kangaskhan Family Event Trophy card sold for over $150,000 at an auction in October 2020. This card is so limited in quantity that its value is off the charts. Winning the card in 2006 automatically granted entry to the finalist in 2007 as well, bypassing the whole organised points play system they would otherwise need to work through.

In February 2021, PWCC sold a PSA 9-graded copy of the card for $110,100. The fact it wasn’t even in pristine, PSA 10 condition and still sold for six figures should go some way to show the value of this card.

Examine Current Prices Online

  • Facebook Marketplace

Then use the search function to determine your cards current monetary value. Look through multiple listings on multiple sites to get a good idea of the cards average price. Pay attention not just to price, but also the highest price that actually sold.

Psa 10 Holographic Shadowless First Edition Chansey: $1100

Despite not being one of the iconic starters or legendaries, Chansey is still one of the most valuable cards from Pokemons Base Set. Like every other base set card, the Shadowless version gets a much higher price at auction.

There are 48 PSA 10-graded holo, shadowless Chanseys verified by the PSA. Despite that, they dont tend to fetch as high a price as their slightly more common expansion mates, like Charizard, probably because it is a less popular Pokemon. The last verified auction sale of a PSA 10 Chansey was in 2021, when PWCC Auctions sold one for $27,412.

How Do We Get Our Card Value Estimates

How to Tell if Your Pokémon Cards Are Rare or Expensive!

Our unique search algorithm produces an estimated value for each card based on the prices of cards that have been sold on eBay UK in the last 90 days. We only use prices of cards that did actually sell in our calculations and each card is updated roughly every 10 days! We individually search for NM/M, PSA 8, PSA 9 and PSA10 conditions for every single card in our database. All other values for each condition of every card worked out in relation to the NM/M value. We exclude the cost of shipping, so you just get the value for the card alone. We do this using the following guideline:

-If shipping is less than 90p, we record the price + shipping 90p. This is because the seller has worked some or all of the shipping cost into the price, so must be taken off. -If shipping is 91p or more, we record just the price of the card.

*Note: 90p is our current estimate for shipping which roughly includes the cost of a stamp, bubble envelope, toploader and sleeve .

Collecting The Pokmon Cards

The 18 Most Valuable Pokémon Cards That Are Worth a Ton of Money

You may already have a collection of Pokémon cards on your hands. Still, to sustain your side hustle, youll probably need to invest in some Pokémon cards to sell later at a higher price. Hunting for the best deals can be tricky if you dont know some essential best practices for investing in Pokémon cards.

Set Broad Search Filters

No matter what online platform youre browsing, its a good idea to set broad search filters to snag valuable cards at lower prices.

When most people search online for Pokémon cards, theyll type in precisely what they want. Few people will be interested in these cards because the algorithm cant include them in the buyers search. Sometimes, the person who posted the card on eBay doesnt properly tag the item or misspells something in the title.

If you cast a wider net, youll catch more fish. Youll probably have to sort through a long list to find the good ones, but this technique can help you snag a card that would otherwise be priced much higher.

Shop Around

Dont limit your search to one platform. Sellers often cross-post the same card on online platforms like eBay and Mercari, and sometimes the price is lower on one platform than another.

You can find Pokémon cards in pawn shops, estate sales, specialized Facebook groups, and Craigslist. Widen your search, and youll find a better selection.
