With 87 gem mint copies according to the registry, its not especially rare by any means, while the foil is a neutral sparkly silver.
It manages to snag a spot in the top ten, but Id personally prefer an Alakazam or a Mewtwo rather than a Pokémon most people disregard in favor of the base version.

To the untrained eye, the Charizard Base Set Unlimited Print 4/102 may look identical to the most expensive and rarest Pokémon card on this list, but there are many key differences. This edition of the original English language Base Set Charizard card features the same artwork by Mitsuhiro Arita, but it lacks the 1st Edition stamp and also features a drop shadow to the right of the art panel. This card was part of the Unlimited print run of the 1999 Pokémon Base Set meaning its 1st Edition counterpart is a much more rare Pokémon card. The original publisher of the English Pokémon card game was Wizards of the Coast, and after their initial print runs of the Pokémon Base Set, they received some criticism that the card design was too boring. To combat these complaints they added a shadow effect to the right side of the art panel. While the shadow may have made the card look more aesthetically pleasing back in the day, today it does carry a more affordable price tag. A Charizard Base Set Unlimited Print 4/102 PSA 10 sold for as high as $8,100 on StockX making it the second most expensive Pokémon card to sell on StockX.
Tropical Mega Battle Trainer Number 1 Card
Like the Secret Super Battle cards above, the Tropical Mega Battle cards were awarded to elementary school student winners and this competition welcomed kids up to third grade. Here, the card featured an Exeggutor and the event’s logo with artwork by Ken Sugimori and Hiromi Ito.
What’s it worth? This card makes our list of rarest Pokemon cards simply because of the age of its recipients and the commonly held belief that fewer of these cards still exist. Its rarity makes its value nearly priceless, but a high-grade example of another Tropical Mega Battle card sold for $50,300 via eBay in October 2020. This makes us confident that the Tropical Mega Battle Trainer Number 1 card would command a similar price point in such condition.

The 9th card on our list is a long-time fan favorite, ever since this Pokemon appeared in the first generation. At #203/202, the very first secret card in the set, the Rainbow Lapras VMAX is the first rainbow card to make an appearance in the base set of Pokemon Sword and Shield card collection.
Lapras actually appears in the set 6 times – once as a regular rare card , once as a reverse holo once as a holo rare V , once as a holo rare VMAX , once as an ultra-rare V , and finally as a secret rare Rainbow VMAX .
The secret Lapras VMAX Rainbow card has G-Max Pump, a 90+ power attack that does an additional 30 damage for each water energy that has been attached to this Pokemon card.
The Rainbow Lapras VMAX card, at the time of writing, fetches a price of around $11.20.

Pokmon Neo Revelation 1st Edition Holo Houndoom #8
Neo Revelation is a 66-card expansion that was released back in 2001.
Weve mentioned that dark Pokémon were overpowered at the time, but they were also unique enough to stand out from the crowd compared to normal types that had been seen before.
Houndoom is one such example, with the card wrapped in a distinctive black background.
Youll be able to see advancements in terms of the illustration compared to the base 1999 set, as Houndoom howls at the moon in the image. Rather than a full holo background, only the stars glitter in the light.
Another expensive option, its limited to only 28 PSA 10 copies. Thats low enough to allow it to mix with the rarest original Pokémon cards.
Pokemon World Championships No1 Trainer
This card is just as attractive as the name every single copy of this rare gem is truly one of a kind. Well, this is because each card was personalized with the name of every tournament winner.
The designers mainly produced these cards for the few winners of the Pokemon World Championship Tournament.

The snap cards are a very interesting piece of Pokémon history. Like many of the cards on this list, they were won through a special competition. In this case, it wasnt a competition for the card game itself, but rather a contest to see who could snap the best shots of Pokémon in the Nintendo 64s Pokémon Snap.
There were five winners chosen, and each winner received 20 copies of a card with their winning pictures on it. It is unknown how many of each card are in existence today, however some of the winners have sold a number of their cards over the years.
According to Otakukart, the highest price that a Snap card has fetched is $15,989. Theyve also sold for less, but many collectors consider this card to be among their Holy Grails.
Pokmon Secret Super Battle Number 1 Trainer Card
During the Challenge Road ’99 SUMMER event , the Secret Super Battle and the Tropical Mega Battle were early side tournaments which invited elementary school students to compete. The Super Secret Battle played host to kids from third grade up to high school . The Secret Super Battle cards featured a Mewtwo silhouette and the event logo artwork by Hideki Kazaa. Along with the Tropical Mega Battle cards, the Secret Super Battle cards represented the first trainer cards with new artwork breaking away from the Trophy Pikachu for the first time.
