Rare Charizard Pokemon Card

Pokemon Neo Destiny 1st Edition Shining Charizard

Pawn Stars: Rare Collection of Charizard Pokemon Cards (Season 14) | History

Sold in January, 2021 for $20,250

The fourth main expansion of the Neo Series, Neo Destiny, is notable for featuring both “light” and “dark” Pokémon whose characteristics and “destiny” are reflective of how a Trainer trains them.

Light Pokémon are caring and bright-spirited, while dark Pokémon are the exact opposite.

Dark Pokémon have appeared in several different series, but the Neo Destiny set is the only one in which you will find the light Pokémon.

Charizard appears as neither light nor dark in Neo Destiny but instead as a special Shining Charizard that gets its name from the unique foil design that glimmers and shines in the light.

The Shining Pokémon in this series also feature a unique rarity symbol in the lower right in the form of three stars.

Pokmon Neo Genesis 1st Edition Holo Lugia #9

A legendary Pokémon on a legendarily rare Pokémon card

Sold for $144,300 in May 2021

Lugia is one of the most iconic and popular Pokémon in the entire series, having starred on the front of early Game Boy game Pokémon Silver and its Nintendo DS remake SoulSilver. A legendary bird Pokémon from Gen II, Lugia is one of the most powerful and hard-to-find Pokémon that players can catch in the video games – so its only fitting that its Pokémon card is also extremely rare.

The Neo Genesis 1st Edition Holo Lugia #9 Pokémon card is described by auction house PWCC as one of the most difficult Pokémon cards to grade, as the result of a number of errors and misprints that were included in the early runs of the Neo Genesis set for the Pokémon TCG. Later print runs were corrected, but many of the cards from the expansion remain more common in their earlier uncorrected forms.

As of May 2021, PWCC claims that only 41 Gem Mint 10 condition Neo Genesis 1st Edition Holo Lugia #9 cards have ever been graded by PSA, with just three earning the maximum BGS 10 Pristine rating from grading company Beckett Grading Services. The Lugias rarity means that it ranks almost as highly as the legendary first-edition Charizard when it comes to the most valuable Pokémon cards.

How Can You Tell If A Charizard Card Is Rare

Official/Authentic CHARIZARD GX Ultra Rare Pokemon Card

Great question! This is exactly the kind of assessment you should be making before investing in a Charizard card. Generally speaking, older Charizard cards are rare and valuable as they are many years out of print. However, card condition plays a massive role. Grading companies help with this by assessing the state of the card out of 10. The better the condition, the rarer the card. They also have population reports which tell you how many cards have achieved a particular grade . Again, this is really useful for understanding how rare a Charizard card is. For more information about grading see here.

Rare Pokemon Charizard Card Sells For Us$336000

Going once. Going twice. Sold!

A rare first-edition 1999 Pokémon Charizard No. 4 card sold on Thursday for US$336,000 at auction.

The Charizard card, sold by Heritage Auctions, drew widespread attention because it’s from the game’s first English print run and had been given a perfect PSA GEM-MT 10 grading. It’s one of only 121 to be given that rating, according to the auction house.

The sale was part of a larger trading card games auction, which included Magic: The Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. In total, the auction netted more than $3.7 million.

“This auction, especially the trophy-level cards, did exceptionally well,” Jesus Garcia, Heritage Auctions Trading Card Games consignment director, said in a statement.

“This sale reinforced the fact that demand for Pokémon cards continues its climb. We fully expected Pokémon and Magic: The Gathering to fare well, and they did.”

Since their introduction in the 1990’s, Pokémon cards have made a comeback and have even sparked a sales frenzy.

Last week, a Georgia man was sentenced to prison for using COVID-19 relief funds to buy a Pokémon Charizard card, the U.S. Department of Justice said in a release. He purchased the card for $57,789.

In February, Goldin Auctions sold a rare 1998 Pocket Monsters Japanese Promo Illustrator Holographic Pikachu card for $900,000. Goldin says it was an “all-time record public sale for any Pokémon card.”

Are Charizards Worth Collecting

When it comes to Pokemon cards, my motto is collect what you love. If youre not a big fan of the character , then Id recommend against going down this path. If however, you like the character, enjoy the artworks and potentially want something as an investment piece too, then collecting Charizard cards is worth it. Just remember though, card rarity and condition is very important in terms of value. Get clued up before investing heavily.

The forfeitures have included Lamborghinis, gold bars and luxury goods from Dior.

But this may be the oddest seizure yet. Federal authorities say that they did not know at first what to make of a rare Pokémon trading card that they seized from a Georgia man who had used coronavirus relief money to buy the collectible.

The man, Vinath Oudomsine, 31, of Dublin, Ga., was sentenced to three years in federal prison on Friday, according to prosecutors, who said that he pleaded guilty last October to defrauding a loan program operated by the Small Business Administration.

In January 2021, Mr. Oudomsine spent $57,789 of loan proceeds from the program on the card, a first-edition Charizard released in 1999 that features a dragon-like creature from the Pokémon franchise, court documents show.

Five months earlier, he had received an $85,000 loan from the program for his small entertainment services business, which prosecutors said that he had claimed had 10 employees and gross revenues of $235,000 during the 12 months before the coronavirus pandemic. However, prosecutors said, there was no such business.

Charizard ~ 1999 Cd Promo

A special promotional CD was released exclusively in Japan on January 1, 1999. It came with some incredible promotional art inside alongside a random selection of promo cards. As the CDs themselves tend to sell for hundreds of dollars when they appear on auction sites, it makes it expensive to even home to receive one of these rare Charizards. Those that do though can make quite a bit of money, with some selling for over $700 on eBay.

In February 2002, Wizards of the Coast released Pokémons 11th expansion pack: Neo Destiny. Among the new cards was the rare Shining Charizard, a limited-print card under the Shining Holos category. Only eight cards were included in this category, making the Shining Charizard very rare and very expensive. Today, the card is valued at more than $25,000!

Shining Charizard was the rarest card in Pokémons 11th expansion, but it wasnt the only limited-print card. The set also included a limited collection of 11 Rares and 20 Uncommons.

Mega Charizard Ex Xy Flashfire

Cost: $

Sometimes, after a Pokemon booster box has been out for a while and the set is discontinued, its value will start increasing massively. This commonly occurs when the cards in the set are especially sought-after.

XY Flashfire is one such set. Its booster boxes now sell for 400% more than they used to, because of the number of Charizards in the set.

This Mega Charizard EX is our favourite from the set. It’s not the most expensive, but we love the dark look used on this card. Charizard is depicted with a metallic tint, and spits blue flames, which looks really cool against the dark backdrop of this card.

This Mega Charizard is also one of the few dragon type Charizard cards ever printed normally Charizard is a fire type Pokemon.

This card not only has shiny Charizard, but it is the only one where the Pokemon is also a Dark type making it truly special. It’s also a Basic Pokemon meaning that players didn’t even have to even have to go through the lengthy route of evolving before playing it!

How To Know If Your Charizard Pokmon Card Is Rare And Valuable Or Not

Charizard

Paul Tassi

Time is a flat circle, and it seems like just yesterday I was spending my allowance every week on Pokémon cards in junior high. Well, now Pokémon cards, and opening them on Twitch streams and in YouTube videos, are all the rage again, and it turns out some of those cards you got as a kid may be valuable today, if you kept themand kept them in good shape.

Wading into the exact valuation of all Pokémon cards is a swamp that its hard to emerge from, so I thought Id focus on one particular type of card which was coveted when I was a kid. I saved it because I thought it might be worth something someday, and it turns out I was right. Well, depending on which version you have.

Here is a gradient scale on which of the old school Charizard cards are the most and least valuable. Exact figures for selling prices are hard to pin down. The low end might be a few hundred, the higher end for the rarest Charizard editions can be tens of thousands, if not over $100K for true perfection. The prices below are estimates and again, its a wide range. If yours isnt here at all, it may be too common to be worth all that much. These cards are also usually PSA 9-10 graded meaning they have to be in stellar condition, not just sitting in a shoebox somewhere, in order to see these ranges of prices.

Shining Charizard First Edition

Earlier, we discussed the introduction of shiny Pokemon and how it simply made Charizard cooler. In the 2002 NEO Destiny First Edition set, there was a card titled Shining Charizard that captured the black-scaled iconic Pokemon in all of its elegance and stoicism.

A PSA 10 graded version of the card has sold at its highest for around $22,000. The NEO Destiny set was the last one that the card manufacturer, Wizards of the Coast, used the logo for on any of their Pokemon products an interesting legacy for an equally interesting trading card.

Black Star Ishihara Signed Gx Promo Card

A card featuring the Pokémon Company’s President himself.

Sold for $247,230 in April 2021

The most recent card to make headlines for pure value, this card sold for nearly a quarter of a million dollars at auction on April 26th 2021. You can find the full details at our story here, but this card depicts Pokémon Company founder and current president Tsunekazu Ishihara, and was given to the company staff as a celebration of the man’s 60th birthday in 2017.

That makes the card rare, but this specific version is even rarer, as Ishihara actually signed this near-mint card to boost its price even further. The “2017 P.M. SM Black Star #TPCi01 Tsunekazu Ishihara Signed Pokémon GX Promo Card”, to use its full title, is a testament to the raw power apparently held by the Pokémon president. The ability “Red Chanchanko” is in reference to the red vest traditionally worn on 60th birthdays in Japan, and prevents the effect of any attack, ability or trainer card against Ishihara. Meanwhile, its GX move “60 Congratulations”, tells you to flip 60 coins, and take a present for each one. A truly legendary card.

Reverse Holographic Legendary Collection

My $40,000 RAREST Charizard Pokemon Card Collection

When reverse holographics first entered the Pokemon scene, kids couldn’t handle how amazing the alternate design was. The reverse holographic version of Charizard from the 2002 Legendary Collection set added a whole new layer of cool to the already popular Base Set design of the beloved Fire-type starter from the Kanto region.

Its highest selling price for a PSA 10 graded version of the card went for a solid $6,500, which may sound like a lot of money but doesn’t come close to everything else ahead of it on this list. Frankly, that’s frightening.

What Makes The Legendary Collection Reverse Holo Charizard So Valuable

Next up we have a card that divides options the reverse holographic Charizard from 2002s Legendary Collection. Some people love the fireworks reverse holo background, others think its all too in-your-face. Personally, I love it. Its one of my favourite cards!

Interestingly though, what makes it so valuable, aside from the iconic Charizard artwork, is how difficult it is to grade in a PSA 10. As you can see below, only 75 exist. This is because theres an extra level of complexity when grading this card, as the large holographic area was often susceptible to print lines. Combine that with possible edgewear, corner nicks and scratches, its no surprise theres some a low population of PSA 10s.

Winners of the first rounds consisting of four players each won the Full Art Charizard V shown here.

The extreme difficulty of receiving the BGS 10 Pristine grade gives this card a significant boost in value.

Low Print Run Charizards

Again, this circles back to the general subject of supply and demand. Put a very popular Charizard card with low print runs into the market and its going to be worth money.

Were always buying all types of Charizard cards that are from low and high print runs, this is simply because we love collecting Pokemon cards.

One of the lowest print runs is arguably the 1st edition Pokemon cards from base set. While there were no official numbers ever released to the public, its known to be one of the shortest print runs for Pokemon.

Pokemon Japanese Base Set Holo No Rarity Symbol Holo Charizard

The 18 Most Valuable Pokémon Cards That Are Worth a Ton of Money

Sold in November, 2020 for $57,877

The 1996 Japanese “No Rarity” Charizard card is a true piece of hobby history as it marked one of the first appearances of the iconic character.

Most Japanese base set cards will contain a “rarity symbol” in the lower-right corner of the card that varies based on the card type.

Holographic cards in the set feature a star symbol, so if you find one without the rarity symbol, then you know you’re looking at the more rare, first-print “no rarity” Charizards.

The “no rarity” Charizards are much more difficult to find as PSA has graded 3,634 regular base set Charizards compared with only 273 “no rarity” Charizards.

Furthermore, roughly 14% of the regular base Charizards have achieved a PSA 10 grade compared to less than 2% of the “no rarity” Charizards.
