Research Bulk Pokemon Card Pricing So You Know What To Expect

If youre selling a bulk set of cards to a reseller you should be prepared to get bulk pricing for those cards, which is typically a fixed-rate based on the type of card . Its important to understand that bulk rates are always going to be much lower than the market value for that card, and for good reason! When you sell to a reseller theyre turning around and putting in the time, money, and effort to sell those cards individually for a profit , and in order for that to be worth it they have to be able to mark those cards up significantly. Bulk Pokemon card rates can vary by company, but for most places youll see prices in the following ranges:Vintage Commons – 5 cents to 10 cents per cardVintage Uncommons – 10 cents to 25 cents per cardVintage Rares – 50 cents to $1 per cardModern Commons/Uncommons – 1 cent to 4 cents per cardModern Rares – 2 cents to 5 cents per cardModern Holos/Reverse holos – 10 cents to 20 cents per cardKeep in mind that card condition plays a big factor in which side of that range your cards will fall in – for example, a LP rare may be valued at 50 cents, while that same card in NM condition would be valued closer to $1.

How To Open A Trading Card Shop From A Shop Owners Perspective Part 1

Recently we shared our first post on how to open up a trading card shop with some great tips from our friends at Southern Hobby Supply. I found some of the responses to the post interesting where fans shared they didnt think opening a shop was a viable business opportunity. In the past it can be argued that it most certainly was not, but the industry has changed and manufacturers are doing more to not only support, but defend brick and mortar retailers.

I saw some responses from former shop owners who opened their shops only to close them down soon after. One reason this happened could be from a lack of education about what it takes to run a profitable trading card store. There is just not a lot of information out there about how to put together a business plan, get a loan, acquire inventory, hire staff, get insurance, etc. My hope is that by putting together a series of videos and stories about how to open a prosperous retail business in this industry, we can help provide the tools these business owners desperately need to have success.

So lets hear from some of these trading card shop owners who have established themselves as leaders in the industry and hear what they have to say!

We pulled Brad Krysko aside from Cloutsnchara. We asked him about how he got into the business and how he went from managing a collector website to becoming a partner in a trading card shop and well-regarded online collector community.

As part of our continuing series on how to open a trading card shop, we spent some time with Lloyd Kee and Steve Snyder from GTS Distribution. Take a listen as they provide some tips on how to be successful in this industry as a shop owner and about how GTS Distribution can help a new shop.

owns Legacy Sports Cards in Las Vegas, NV and he works through GTS Distribution. Marcel was a sports fan, who became a collector, who then moved on to open an eBay store and then set up at shows. In 2007 he took all his experience and opened up his shop in 2007 and they have been going strong ever since. I asked Marcel to share some follow up questions we had:

Question: Why is planning so important before opening your store?

I realized that if I wanted to open to a hobby shop that I would need a loan. The only way to obtain a loan is with a business plan. At first I almost had someone write it for me, but then realized that I would only be short changing myself. I ended up going to my local SBA branch and they helped me write my own plan.

It took me six months to write the plan. I had never written one before and I learned that there wasnt a financial institution in the country that was going to lend me money unless I did this right. In writing the plan I became very aware of all the sacrifices that I would need to make in my life and the limited amount of financial profit I would immediately realize in opening a new business.

How To Become A Vendor For Prepaid Debit Cards

Prepaid debit cards, called stored value cards in the industry, are the fastest growing financial service sector, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. They include gift cards, prepaid telephone cards, prepaid debit cards, and prepaid and refillable general use debit cards.

Examine your business model including where you intend to locate your business and whether you will be selling out of a storefront to walk-in clientele or whether you will be calling on businesses to sell them the idea of using stored value cards for their payroll, incentive programs, and to control travel and entertainment expense. The costs of maintaining your store or office will have to be covered by the fees you will receive from selling these cards, so be careful to establish how much you will receive on the sale of each card and, if you intend to set up a store, make sure it is in a location that is likely to attract walk in business.

Contact issuers of stored value cards and compare their various programs. You will find significant differences in their support, vendor procedures, fees and liability provisions. Not all issuers are banks and not all stored value card programs are the same. Look at the offerings in local stores to see which are the most popular cards among vendors. Make a note of the issuers of those cards and contact as many as possible while doing your research.

Pokemon Mixed Card Lots

Collecting random Pokemon cards by purchasing trading packs is a pastime that Pokemon video game and card collectors might want to look into. This pursuit has undergone a continual metamorphosis. Pokemon started as a video game and kids cartoon but eventually became a Pokemon Go app on smart devices.

What are Pokemon trading pieces?

Pokemon trading cards are used to play with the collectible pieces by playing the Pokemon Trading Card Game, or Pokemon TCG for short. Each card represents a Pokemon from the Pokemon Go video games. It is published by Nintendo and continues to be a pastime among Pokemon fans.

What types of Pokemon cards are available? What are the Pokemon types used on the pieces?

In order to create Pokemon Go, the creatures, energy, and powers were simplified and placed into types based on the colors green, red, blue, yellow, purple, brown/orange, black, silver, pink, and white. Most Pokemon only have one type. While there are 18 types in the video game, there are only 11 types in the piece sport.

How are the cards collected and used to play?

Pokemon cards are sold in packets the buyer does not know which cards they contain. Owners of cards will trade with other owners. Rare and special cards can be found for purchase from collectors.

Booster Packs And Booster Boxes

The Pokemon TCG is a trading card game, meaning players collect cards to build unique decks and play against each other. The primary way players collect these cards is through booster packs.

A booster pack contains 10 random cards, similar to a pack of baseball cards. Each card has a rarity, ranging from common to super rare . The standard distribution of cards in a booster pack is 6 common cards, 3 uncommon card, and 1 rare card.

Booster packs are released in sets. New sets are released roughly four times a year, each with a unique name like Sun and Moon Team Up. Each set contains a fixed number of new cards, usually around 200.

When you buy a booster pack, it will indicate the set that it is from. As you can see in the picture above, the booster packs are from the set Sun and Moon Team Up. If you bought 10 packs of Team Up, you would end up with 10 rare cards, 30 uncommon cards, and 60 common cards. While you can buy booster packs individually, they are also commonly sold in a booster box of 36 packs.

One of the best reasons to buy booster boxes is to get a better distribution of cards. Imagine there are 220 cards in a set. In that set, there is somewhere around 70 rare cards, 70 uncommon cards, and 80 common cards. When you buy a single pack, you will get a random rare card, 3 random uncommon cards, and 6 random common cards.
