What Are Pokmon Diamond And Pearl

Let’s See What New Pokemon Game is Coming Out

Pokémon Diamond and Pearl were classic entries in the creature-catching franchise, still regarded by many as one of the best.

Set in the region of Sinnoh, an island based on the Japanese island of Hokkaid.

The game sees the adventures of a new Pokémon trainer, controlled by the player, who strives to become the Pokémon League Champion by collecting and training Pokémon.

Players are tasked with collecting eight gym badges in order to Challenge the Pokémon League, which spreads across the region of Sinnoh.

Diamond and Pearl, as well as its Platinum expansion, featured 210 Pokemon.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl Update The Classic Games With New Features

The upcoming Pokemon remakes stay faithful to the original titles while introducing some modern quality-of-life touches.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl launch for Nintendo Switch on Nov. 19.

At this point in Pokemon’s 25-year history, there have been nearly as many remakes as there have been mainline games, but the latest pair, Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl for Nintendo Switch, are a little different. Rather than reimagining the original Pokemon Diamond and Pearl versions, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are faithful recreations, right down to their chibi-like visuals and overhead viewpoint. Despite this conservative approach, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl also introduce a variety of refinements that should help make the 15-year-old games more palatable to a modern audience.

Nintendo recently gave us a fresh hands-off look at Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl ahead of their launch next month. Although the core experience stays true to the originals, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl incorporate numerous quality-of-life improvements from the series’ most recent installments, sanding off many of the rough edges inherent in the older titles.

Pokmon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

The big mainline Pokémon video games of 2021 are Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, which are Nintendo Switch remakes of the Sinnoh games. Very little footage from the games has been revealed so far, but they appear to be straight remakes of Pokémon Diamond & Pearl. It’s unclear if they will contain any content or concepts from Pokémon Sword & Shield, such as Dynamaxing or a Wild Area. It’s also unclear if they will contain content from Pokémon Platinum. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl will release for the Nintendo Switch on November 19, 2021.

Pokmon Diamond And Pearl Remake Gameplay And Setting

If you played the original Pokémon Diamond and Pearl games on Nintendo DS, then you should know what to expect in terms of gameplay. The core Pokémon series gameplay appears to be largely unchanged, maintaining exploration of the overworld, turn-based combat and a focus on catching as many Pokémon as you can to fill out your Pokédex as an extra completionist objective.

Amidst the National Dex controversy surrounding Pokémon Sword and Shield , we expect Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl to pick up the slack, hopefully featuring all Pokémon from the first four generations.

Thats just shy of 500 pocket monsters. In addition to that, wed love to see a selection of Pokémon from generations beyond that to also make an appearance as they did in previous remakes.

We also expect the popular Battle Zone to make a comeback. This unique area allowed trainers to seriously test their endgame Pokémon parties with locales like the addictive Battle Frontier and Ribbon Syndicate. Some new features unique to the remake would also work wonders, potentially addressing complaints of lower difficulty in more recent Pokémon titles.

New Pokemon Remakes Coming In 2021 A Leak Says Yes

A lot of people love Pokemon. That sounds like an empty, shallow statement, but when I say a lot, I mean a lot. Millions of people play these beloved games on consoles, tabletops, and mobile devices. If you own a Nintendo console, then youre likely picking up a Pokemon game at some point. For example, 30% of North American Switch owners purchased Pokemon Sword and Shield. The aforementioned games caused quite a stir in the Pokemon community. For its 25th anniversary, GameFreak and The Pokemon Company, the teams behind the series, are hoping to play things a little bit safer. According to a somewhat reliable leaker, that might mean new Pokemon remakes coming in 2021. Heres what we know about the rumors surrounding a possible return to the Sinnoh region.

Pokmon Diamond And Pearl Remake News And Rumors

Grand Underground, Secret Bases confirmedThe Grand Underground and Secret Base features are returning in the Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl remakes. The former is a sprawling underground dungeon, featuring rooms filled with Pokémon to catch.

The latter acts as your home away from home, and can be customized with furniture, statues and more.

Tying into this is a brand new feature to the remakes known as Pokémon Hideaways. These special rooms contain Pokémon based on the statues you’ve placed in your Secret Base. In addition, unique Pokémon may spawn here that you won’t be able to catch anywhere else.

Character customizationSomething missing from the previous remakes, Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, was the ability to alter your trainer’s appearance that debuted to a warm reception in Pokémon X and Y.

Thankfully, the feature is returning in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, where players will be able to dress up their trainers to their liking.

Pokéball customizationAnother feature that’s being expanded upon is the ability to customize your Pokéballs with stickers, emblems and more. This time, your unique Pokéballs will also be able to make an entrance with various flashy effects based on the designs you affix to them.

E3 2021Unfortunately, we didn’t hear more about Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl at Nintendo’s E3 2021 showcase but we’re hoping to hear more about the remakes in the coming months.

One of the consistent aspects of most Pokémon gamesspanning from Pokémon Red and Blue on the Game Boy to the Nintendo 3DS games Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moonis the choice of one of three different Pokémon at the start of the player’s adventures these three are often labeled “starter Pokémon”. Players can choose a Pokémon type Grass-type, Fire-type, or Water-type Pokémon indigenous to that particular region. For example, in Pokémon Red and Blue, the player has the choice of starting with Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle. The exception to this rule is Pokémon Yellow, where players are given a Pikachu, an Electric-type mouse Pokémon, famous for being the mascot of the Pokémon media franchise unique to Pokémon Yellow, the three starter Pokémon from Red and Blue can be obtained during the quest by a single player.

However, in Pokémon Black and White, there are two rivals one picks the Pokémon with a type advantage over the player’s chosen Pokémon, while the other chooses the Pokémon with the type disadvantage. In Pokémon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, another Trainer chooses the Pokémon with a type disadvantage to the player’s chosen Pokémon, but never battles the player instead, this character battles alongside the player as a tag partner in certain situations.

New Pokemon Games May Be Missing Content When They Release

When Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl, remakes of Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl, release this year via the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Switch Lite, it will probably be with some missing content, though the content’s removal won’t surprise fans of the series as it’s content that was also removed from Pokemon Omega Ruby and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire when the pair of Ruby and Sapphire remakes released back in 2014.

Like Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield, Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl will be rated PEGI 7 in Europe when they release, all but confirming that the Game Corner will not be in remakes, because if they were, the rating wouldn’t be PEGI 7. More specifically, don’t expect to visit the Veilstone Game Corner in Veilstone City with the remakes like you could with the originals.

As many of you will know, the Game Corner was thrown away by the series after Diamond and Pearl, which were the last games to feature the content. In other words, it’s not surprising this content has seemingly been pulled with the remakes, as not only did it happen Pokemon Omega Ruby and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire, but it’s something the series has moved on from altogether.

Pokmon Legends Arceus: News And Rumors

Boss fightsRevealed during the August 18 Pokémon Presents livestream, some Pokémon in the Hisui region will be more hostile than others. Especially strong Pokémon bore a red aura around their eyes, and would even attack the trainer directly. It seems like these encounters will be treated as boss fights, or harder fights at the very least. We expect to come across a lot of them in an effort to complete our Pokédex.

Base camp and regionsYou’ll start any expedition by choosing a general area on the overworld map. From there, you’ll begin your journey at a base camp, where you can stock up on items from your inventory, or even buy and craft more of them.

You’ll also return to the base camp should you black out while exploring. This can happen if wild Pokémon hurt you too much, which means trainers will have to tread a lot more carefully than usual.

New Pokémon and variants confirmedJust because Hisui will eventually become the Sinnoh region doesn’t mean we won’t be seeing any new Pokémon. In fact, the August 18 Pokémon Presents livestream confirmed just that. New Pokémon Wyrdeer and Basculegion will be joining the roster, and we imagine more new critters will follow.

Region-specific variants are also confirmed to be returning with the announcement of Hisuian Braviary and Growlithe. Previous games in the series have done this to great success, such as with Alolan Vulpix and Galarian Ponyta, so we’re glad to see the feature returning.

Pokemon Let’s Go Gold And Silver

Pokemon GO remains a juggernaut in the mobile gaming space, standing as one of the most consistently popular mobile games ever made. It’s no surprise that Game Freak wanted to capitalize on Pokemon GO‘s success, and it did so with Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee, which recreated the original Pokemon games with updated graphics and more Pokemon GO-style gameplay. While not everyone was a fan of this style of Pokemon game, it does have its appeal, and many would be excited to see the Johto region games, Gold and Silver, get a similar treatment down the line. If nothing else, these Let’s Go games could help fill the gap between proper new Pokemon releases.
