Nintendo has steadily introduced new features to New Horizons, adding fun new content such as the recently released Super Mario Bros. crossover. New Horizons also has robust customization features, including a new terraforming feature that gives you complete control over the terrain of your island. Whether you’re conversing with your fellow residents, trying to finish your museum catalog, or visiting your friends’ islands, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a constant charmer.
The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is arguably the best Nintendo Switch game. In fact, many would consider it the best entry in the storied series and one of the best games ever made. Breath of the Wild was Nintendo’s first real foray into open-world games, and it’s easily one of the best in class. Breath of the Wild provides a sense of exploration never before seen in the series. The sprawling open world of Hyrule is gorgeous and serves as Linkâs personal playground. He can climb virtually anything, which creates an incredible sense of scale and freedom. This overarching change extends to the central progression as well. Replacing elaborate dungeons with tons of small-scale Shrines allows you to approach the adventure in your own way. Breath of the Wild is one of the few open-world games that isn’t littered with extraneous systems and objectives. It prides itself on offering a slower pace and a more scenic, desolate world that’s ripe for exploring, whether you’re on foot, horseback, or scaling a cliff searching for a new discovery. Breath of the Wild is a stunning, brilliant adventure.

Pokmon Sword & Shield
Taking the typically portable mainline series to consoles for the first time is a daunting trial, but Game Freak delivered a decent effort with Sun & Moon. Yes, it doesnt have all the Pokémon from the past series, but thats okay with a generation of Pokémon that feels unique to the region of Galar . The game felt truly inspired by the United Kingdom as battles took place in large arenas similar to football games across the country. As a Brit myself, I loved all the different references.
The new open fields of Pokémon Sun & Moon had the developer Game Freak dip its toes into what a big open-world RPG based on the series would be. It is a tantalizing taste of whats to come, as there was plenty to find if you looked in-depth enough.
In addition, the legendaries have an amazing design, with one carrying a sword and the other having a shield. Their attacks are badass like many other Pokémon in the game. It might be disappointing for some, but Sword & Shield is a grand stepping stone for the future of the series. Oh, and did we mention that you can make your Pokémon giant? Thats a neat feature.

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch feels like playing a Pokemon game animated by Studio Ghibli. The game follows the story of a boy named Oliver, who discovers he has magical talent. As High Lord of the Fairies, Oliver must help save the world.
The story is pretty cliche and made to be accessible, but the real meat of the game is how many monsters you can catch. There are four party members you control, and each party member gets three unique skill sets.
Ni No Kuni features over 400 familiars to tame and collect making it one of the best games like Pokemon. The familiar rock, paper, scissors battle between status effects are present here, too. Some familiars have no associated sign and no additional bonuses or weaknesses, much like normal Pokemon.
Familiars can be leveled up by feeding them their favorite foods. Their stats can be raised by a max of 50 and which stats are raised depends on the food type given. Familiars can also morph and develop more potent forms, but unlike Pokemon, you dont want to morph them too soon. The final evolution of each familiar has two main branches to pick.
One key difference between Ni No Kuni and Pokemon is that battles in NNK are free action. You can move your characters around to avoid damage or collect glims to replenish health and mana. It also features a summons component like Final Fantasy, though it is a skill you unlock.

However, those early days of the franchise still hold a lot of nostalgia for Pokemon fans, which is likely the reason @sindorman on Twitter decided to reimagine Pokemon Sword and Shield in a style similar to Gold and Silver! The pixel artist offered just a brief clip based on the Nintendo Switch game, but it’s very cool to see!

There’s something really charming about how it all comes together, and clearly a lot of fans agree as of this writing, the Tweet above has received more than 39,000 likes! Interestingly enough, @sindorman’s video is not the first “demake” we’ve seen for Pokemon Sword and Shield. Last year, Japanese YouTuber Hayate Keiunji released his own 8-bit video based on the game, but done in a completely black and white style, meant to evoke Pokemon Red and Green.
