Pokmon Go Research Tasks
With the arrival of the third generation to Pokémon Go, legendaries were added into the game for the first time as rewards in research tasks, both field and special.
For example, there are legendary Pokémon that we can capture for our team by completing field research tasks for 7 consecutive days and getting the final reward package. Or you can also complete one of Professor Willows special investigations to be rewarded in the same way.
Other Rare Pokmon You Should Not Miss
These Pokémon were mostly available as part of an event, or are limited to a certain time of year.
Its pretty much guaranteed that these Pokémon will appear again. But if you know trainers who suffer from FOMO and cant contemplate the idea theres a rare Pokémon they dont have, you may get a decent trade before they return.

How To Get Legendary Pokmon In Pokmon Go
Whenever you finish the main story campaign in a Pokémon game, your next object is almost always to track down and catch all of the Legendary Pokémon. You cant deny the appeal of catching the only member of a Pokémon species in the entire world . Since Pokémon GO quite literally encompasses the entire, actual world, however, it works a little bit differently from the regular games. Heres how to get Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon GO.
Unlike in the mainline games, Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon GO dont appear in a single static spot, nor do they roam around. Could you imagine if Mewtwo only spawned in New York City or something? Itd be an invitation to chaos.
Shiny Regional Legendary Pokmon New Events And Hoopa Highlight Pokmon Gos September Update
Things might get a little topsy-turvy soon.
Along with the announcement of the Season of Mischief and Hoopa-related content, Niantic has also its big-picture update for Pokémon Gos September content lineup.
With some big changes to five-star raids, Hoopa appearing with more mischievous intentions, and hints at a larger Team Go Rocket-centric event on the horizon, theres a lot to dig through.
Starting with the new events, the Season of Mischief will have a one-day event on Sept. 5 that ties into Hoopa and the strange phenomena that have been happening in Pokémon Go over the last several months. This will also feed into the season-long Special Research story, which will run throughout the Season of Mischief from Sept. 1 to Dec. 1.
From Sept. 8 to 13, players will be involved in a new Psychic Spectacular, with the main event bringing some returning faces and the debut of a Pokémon known to turn things on their heads. Niantic hasnt confirmed it yet, but its likely this means Inkay and Malamar will be available for the first time.
Fashion Week is returning from Sept. 21 to 28, bringing with it the debut of several stylishly dressed Pokémon, new avatar items, and more. But the biggest thing Niantic is hinting at is a larger Team Go Rocket event coming in the future.

Five Star Raids In Pokmon Go
The Five Star tier is typically reserved for Legendary Pokémon and usually the most sought after of public Raids. Theyre more difficult to beat than lower star ratings, but if you have enough players to do it, the rewards at this level are the best. As a reward for completing global challenges during Pokémon Go Fest 2021, the final Ultra Unlock event will feature Sword and Shield mascots, Zacian and Zamazenta in their Hero of Many Battles formes.

No More Four And Two Star Raids In Pokmon Go
Prior to Mega Raids being released, Pokémon Go had two other Raid types: Four Star Raids and Two Star Raids. Four Star Raids were combined with Three Star Raids, while Two Star Raids were combined with One Star Raids. The difficulty remained at Three and One Star levels, while increasing the rewards, making all of these battles more accessible.

Azelf Mesprit And Uxie
These three Legendary Pokemon are very fascinating, as theyre the only Legendaries that can spawn in the wild, and they still can! Most Legendaries rotate in and out of raids, but these three are always available.
However, thats not to say theyre common. Theyre incredibly, incredibly rare. On top of their rarity, theyre also region-locked! Many people were able to get them by finding someone in another region while they were in raids, since you can now raid remotely, so its probably best to wait until thats possible again.
Raid Invitations And Remote Raids In Pokmon Go
As the global pandemic slowed Pokémon Go play and Raids in particular during the early part of 2020, Niantic began to implement new features to make Raids more accessible. Now Trainers can purchase Remote Raid Passes, which allow them to take part in Raids that arent within range for a normal Raid Pass. These Remote Raid Passes will let you join in any Raid you can see on the screen. Additionally, Remote Raid Passes allow you to join into any Raid a Friend invites you to. Raid Invitations were added shortly after Remote Raid Passes, allowing Trainers to invite up to five of their Friends to join in a Raid from anywhere in the world.

Can Legendary Pokemon Be Found Outside Of Tier 5 Raids
Normally, trainers cannot find legendary Pokemon by searching the wild. They can only be battled and caught through Tier 5 raids.
There has been, however, one exception.
Early in 2020, the lake spirits from Generation IV were released into the wild. The lake spirits are Azelf, Uxie and Mespirit, a trio of Psychic-type Pokemon found at the three lakes in the Sinnoh region .
While these legendary Pokemon were released to the wild, they still arent easy to find. They are considered to be extremely rare encounters.
On top of that, they were all region locked. Only Azelf can be found in the Americas Uxie is located in Eastern Asia, and Mespirit was released in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
Outside of the lake spirits, all other legendary Pokemon can only be caught through Tier 5 raids. This likely takes inspiration from the main series games, where legendary Pokemon couldnt be caught in the wild either.
All legendary Pokemon in the games fall under two categories: static or roaming. Static encounters have one specified area where the trainer can attempt to battle and catch the legendary Pokemon there.
Roaming legendaries are, instead, found at different points on the map. Trainers have to search the wild in the hopes of finding these Pokemon. There are ways, though, to help narrow down which wild areas these roaming legendaries will be in.

Special Research Legendary Pokemon: Mew Celebi Jirachi And Meltan
Mew was the first legendary Pokemon available via special research, in a quest line called “A Mythical Discovery”. This is the only way to obtain Mew, and you can read more on that with our how to catch Mew and Mewtwo in Pokemon Go guide.
Celebi is also now available through the “A Ripple In Time” special research quest. Just like Mew, you need to do a series of potentially lengthy tasks, which we’ve covered in detail here: how to catch Celebi in Pokemon Go.
You can get Jirachi too if you complete the special research called Pokemon Go A Thousand Year Slumber. First introduced during Pokemon Go Fest 2019, we’ve got a guide on how to complete all of the tasks.
Technically, Meltan and its evolution Melmetal are mythical Pokemon instead of legendaries, but for the purposes of this guide, they count as legendaries. We’ve covered how to catch Meltan in Pokemon Goand Pokemon Let’s Go but the basic gist of things is that you either need to transfer a Pokemon from the former to the latter, to receive Meltan in the former, or complete the special research called “Let’s GO, Meltan.
If you participated in the Pokemon Go A Drive To Investigate special research, this is how you can obtain Genesect. Unfortunately, the ticket isn’t available any longer, but you can still complete the objectives if you acquired it before.

Even with the maximum possible number of premier balls at your disposal, youre still not guaranteed to catch the Pokémon especially if its a legendary at tier five. If you want to significantly increase your chances, youre going to need to use a golden razz berry.

- Throw a curveball by spinning the Poké ball before you throw it
