How Do You Make Your Pokemon Walk Behind You

How to Make Pokemon Follow You In Pokemon Sword and Shield Isle of Armor DLC | But Not Everywhere?

To unlock the ability for a Pokémon to follow you around in the overworld, you need to complete all three of Dojo Master Mustards trials. Once the trials have been completed, the first Pokémon in your party will automatically show up behind you whenever youre in the Wild Area of the Isle of Armor.

Why Can Pokemon Follow You In Sword

Pokemon Sword and Shield doesnt initially include the ability for Pokemon to follow their trainers, but The Isle of Armor DLC changes that. If you have the Isle of Armor DLC, you can allow your Pokemon to follow you while you walk around. You have to earn the ability to let Pokemon follow you in The Isle of Armor DLC.

How To Walk With Pokmon In Pokmon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl

You will need to unlock the ability to walk with Pokémon before doing so. To unlock this, you will need to access Amity Square in Hearthome City. Before you can enter Hearthome City, youll need to have obtained the first two badges, unlocked the Grand Underground and own a bike. Amity Square can be found in the top right of the city, just behind the Gym.

Enter Amity Square and go for your first stroll with your starter Pokémon. After youre done, exit Amity Square and the receptionist will mention that Pokémon enjoy going on strolls outside of Amity Square, too. Once you have received this dialogue, you can walk any Pokémon of your choice absolutely anywhere!

To choose a Pokémon to walk with, press the X button to bring up the menu and select Pokémon. Highlight the Pokémon you want to walk with, press the A button and select Walk together. From there on out, your selected Pokémon will now follow behind you in the overworld. Unlike Pokémon HeartGold, SoulSilver, Sword and Shield, your Pokémon doesnt need to be in your first slot.

Changing what Pokémon you walk with is done via the exact same method simply select the Pokémon you wish to walk with instead in the menu. Every Pokémon in the game can be walked with, but like the overworld models, wont be true-to-size. You can interact with the Pokémon youre walking with by facing them and pressing A. They display an exclamation mark above their head if they have something interesting to show you.

How To Make Pokemon Follow You In Isle Of Armor

To get Pokemon to follow you in Isle of Armor, youll first need to play through a portion of the expansions story. When you start making your way through the story in the Isle of Armor area, youll encounter the dojo. This will serve as the main hub for the area, and its here that youll be able to turn on or off the ability to have your Pokemon follow you.

Before you can play with this setting, you need to play through the Isle of Armor main quest. After a short period youll be given the option to have your lead Pokemon follow you around within the Isle of Armor area. Once you have access to this, if you want to turn it off you can do that quite easily at the dojo. Head to the left room of the dojo and talk to the small kid in the Pikachu outfit in the bottom of the room.

We don’t know why he’s dressed up as a Pikachu and seems to have his own food bowl on the floor, but this is the place that will let you toggle the option whenever you want. Remember that it’s only your lead Pokemon which will follow you out in the world. Swap your party around to make sure you have the Pokemon you want following you.

Sadly you cant make Pokemon follow you in the main Galar region, but perhaps if the option proves popular enough with Isle or Armor then well get the option added to the core game, but dont hold your breath on that front. Hopefully this guide at least has explained how to make Pokemon follow you in Isle of Armor.

MAKE POKÉMON FOLLOW YOU (Pokemon Sword and Shield, Isle of Armor)!

Amity Square, located on the north side of Hearthome City in Sinnoh, allows several select Pokémon to follow the player around within its borders. An expansion on the concept introduced in Yellow, Amity Square allows the player’s Pokémon to pick up Accessories for Super Contests and Berries, which vary depending on which Pokémon is allowed in.

Only 11 of the 493 Pokémon are allowed into Amity Square in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl: Pikachu, Clefairy, Jigglypuff, Psyduck, Torchic, Shroomish, Skitty, Pachirisu, Drifloon, Buneary, and Happiny. These Pokémon typically have some appearance elsewhere in Sinnoh, or are regarded as popular Pokémon in the franchise most have somewhat of a mascot status due to appearing under the ownership of a main character of the anime.

In Pokémon Platinum, nine additional Pokémon are allowed into Amity Square: the Sinnoh region’s starter Pokémon and their evolutions. In addition, Amity Square itself has been redesigned and expanded.

In Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, 1 of the Pokemon in your party will be able to walk alongside you as you traverse the entire overworld. This feature was only available in HeartGold and Soul Silver, the Let’s Go! games, and with Pikachu only in Pokemon Yellow.

Defeat Three Fast Slowpoke

First, players will need to defeat three fast Slowpoke. After speaking to Master Mustard and leaving the dojo, the slowpoke will run away to the Soothing Wetlands, then move around in circles. One will be running around the pond with the tree in the center, another will be by the entrance to Brawler’s Cave, and the last one should be by Challenge Beach. The Slowpoke can’t be caught, but they’re weak against Ghost, Bug, and Dark attacks.

Defeating them will net players the dojo clothes, which then have to be returned to the Master Dojo. At this point, players will be allowed to choose between two first-gen starters, Bulbasaur and Squirtle, as an early reward. The Pokemon are fan-favorites, so choose wisely.

How To Unlock Pokemon Walk Companions

Pokémon Following you in Isle of Armor?

Although Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl don’t immediately allow a Pokemon to walk behind you like in Heart Gold and Soul Silver, you can unlock the feature a lot earlier than in Pokemon Sword and Shield, where the feature is locked behind DLC. It’s also quite easy to unlock the ability to let a Pokemon walk behind you!

  • First, make it to Hearthome City, home of the third gym leader.
  • Then, head into Amity Square
  • Visiting and playing with Pokemon at Amity Square should unlock the ability to choose one Pokemon at a time to follow you while “in towns and along routes,” according to the official Pokemon website.
  • We’ll add information as we learn more, but according to this image, also from the official Pokemon website, it seems you can interact with your Pokemon in some way as it follows you.

You’ll need to complete the first three trials in the expansion first to unlock the option.

After that, it’s simple: Just head into your Pokemon menu and select the Pokemon you want to follow you and move it to the top of your party.

You can only enable followers in the Isle of Armor, so don’t expect to run through the Galar region with your Pokemon behind you.

What’s really fun is the variety of following animations the Pokemon have. Slowpoke, for example, is as slow as you’d imagine.

How To Have A Buddy Pokmon Follow You In Sword And Shields Isle Of Armor Expansion

In the Pokémon Sword and ShieldIsle of Armor expansion, you can set one of your favorite Pokémon to follow you around the island.

To do this, youll have to beat Klara or Avery in the third and final trial at the dojo. Keep in mind this is the third fight with Klara or Avery. After beating them at the dojo arena, talk to Mustard and he will grant you the ability to run around with your favorite monster.

Whichever Pokémon is set as the lead in your party will follow you around after this. Note that they will only follow you on the Isle of Armor and not on the main Galar region land.

Any Pokémon can follow you around, even water-types that shouldnt really be able to move on land. Theyll float around behind you on land, and submerge and swim behind you when you cross bodies of water. Pokémon will even keep up with you while youre on your bike! Unfortunately Pokémon who arent suited for water wont join you when youre crossing oceans or rivers. Theyll just wait on shore for you to come back to them.

How To Make Pokemon Follow You In Sword And Shield

The way to get Pokemon to start following you in the overworld is to complete Master Mustards dojo trials all 3 of them. Here are the trials that you need to complete:

    • The first trial involves finding and beating three fast Slowpokes
    • The second one is all about looking for Max Mushrooms
    • And the third one will be a Pokemon battle with a new rival. In Sword, your rival will be Klara and in Shield, Avery will be your opponent. Both of these rivals have made some changes to the Battlefield , which will make for an exciting battle.

When you complete all trials by Master Mustard of the Dojo, you dont have to do anything else. He will give you the ability to have your Pokemon trailing you as you move around the Isle of Armor. The first Pokemon that is in your party will be able to do this and wont be limited to the Poke ball anymore. Plus, Master Mustard will give you a Secret Armor the Pokemon Kubfu. Kubfu is a legendary fighting-type Pokemon which can be evolved to Urshifu. As you can tell, its presence is central to the Isle of Armor DLC.

This is how your lead Pokemon can follow you around on The Isle of Armor. You can whistle to make them run towards you. This surely makes for some funny moments based on which Pokemon you have. The speed of every Pokemon is different and seeing them trying to catch up to you is quite hilarous to be honest. You will surely have a great time with this new feature.

    Pokmon Sword And Shield

In Sword and Shield, after completing the third trial in the Master Dojo, Mustard will allow the Pokémon in the players first party slot to follow them around the Isle of Armor. Some will even follow the player into the water if they are a Water-type Pokémon capable of swimming or if they are a Flying-type Pokémon or Pokémon capable of flying or levitating. Otherwise, Pokémon that do not follow these attributes will disappear if the player enters the water, but will reappear once the player reaches land. The speed at which Pokémon move will vary from individual Pokémon. This feature can be toggled off by an NPC in the Master Dojo if the player so wishes.

The feature carries over to the Crown Tundra once the player reaches Freezington and meets the mayor for the first time, who will give the player the right to have the first Pokémon in their party follow them around the Crown Tundra. The same features from the Isle of Armor carry over, and likewise, the feature can be toggled off by an NPC in Freezington.

Walking Pokémon is exclusive to the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra locations, and does not carry over to mainland Galar.
