If you have a bunch of random cards, or want to incorporate a few random cards into a new theme deck, we should learn how to build a deck. Once you have built a few decks and know what cards you want to play, youll see how fudging some of those numbers work and others dont. Using this set-up to start will make it fairly easy to learn and play the game.

Playtest The Pokmon Tcg Deck Around Your Favorite Card Beforehand
Once this Pokémon TCG deck has been built, its time to play, and play a lot. Not only will this make the decks strengths and weaknesses clear, but it will also give the player practical experience. While playing, its critical to take note of what works and what doesnt so improvements can be made. If a Pokémon TCG card ends up not working with the rest of the deck, it should be removed entirely to make room for a different, more effective card. This is why playtesting the deck beforehand is so important.
Its also vital to keep note of the Pokémon cards that do work, but not as often as anticipated. Players who find themselves drawing a card too often, especially when the card isnt helpful, should reduce the number of them in their deck. On the other hand, if a helpful card isnt appearing often enough, more copies should be added . The more often the player wants to draw the card themselves, the closer that card should be to the maximum of four copies. A card thats only helpful in very rare circumstances, but can be searched for when needed, can typically be reduced to two or even only one copy.

Imagination
Someone, somewhere, has the job of creating hundreds of Pokemon. Successfully creating a new Pokemon requires little more than imagination and a willingness to create.
Conceive a general idea for your Pokemon. Is it going to be a bird, a bug, a fish, or something else? Its good to have a general direction.
Start drawing. Its OK if you havent planned everything in your head thats where the paper comes in. Be willing to make tweaks or completely start over if your goal changes. Its possible that your original idea will be nothing like the outcome.
Include any unique qualities. What does your Pokemon do all day? Is it a social creature? Write a short biography for your Pokemon. Include any unique traits or qualities. Dont forget that your Pokemon should fall into an elemental category with weaknesses and strengths. You can even go a step further and create your own element.
Think of skills that allow your Pokemon to protect itself. Try to tailor these toward your Pokemons element. You dont want your fire creature to spout water at its enemies. Think up some new skills, or borrow some from the game.
Add various evolutions. When does it evolve? What does it become? The answers to these questions will determine the future of your Pokemon. A Pokemons evolution will usually be a more powerful or wise version of what it came from. A lizard might become a fierce dragon.

Play With Other People’s Decks

When you copy a winning deck, that doesn’t mean that you’ll automatically win. You have to learn how the deck works and why. By playing with decks built by other people, you’ll start seeing the logic behind the deck. What cards do they have? What moves do they use most often? When should you be using your trainer cards?
Play with the deck several times to get a feel for what it does well, and where it feels lacking. Do this with a variety of decks. The more familiar you are with the cards and different strategies, the easier it will be to build your own decks and counter those used by other people.

Use Pokemon For Additional Support
Next step in this Pokemon Deck Building Guide is making sure to use your Pokemon to their full potential. What makes a Pokemon useful can go beyond just their attacks. There are many different Pokemon with abilities that can be a huge help during your turn.
Dedenne-GX is an example of a supporter Pokemon. When first placing it on your bench, Its Dedechange ability gives you the option to discard your current hand and draw 6 cards. Doing so will give 6 fresh new cards from your deck to work with. This can be extremely helpful when your current hand offers no help during your current turn.
With most of these supporter Pokemon, you wont need to add an energy of their type to your deck. Because you wont need to attack with them. Just be aware that your opponent can gust these Pokemon up to the active position while knowing you cant attack with it.
Along with Dedenne-GX, there are many more Pokemon that can offer support in drawing more cards, attaching more than 1 energy per turn, and disrupting your opponent.
How Many Cards Can You Have In A Pokmon Tcg Deck
All Pokémon TCG decks must have 60 cards. No more, and no less. There are also limits on how many of each card you can include. You can only have a maximum of four of a specific card in your deck.
For example, you can only have four Fennekin cards. This is the general rule, but there are certain exemptions, such as Prism Star, which can only be included once per deck.
Once you have around 15 Pokémon in your deck, its time to start thinking about Trainer and Energy cards. Use Normal type Pokémon to fill space if you need some more attackers.
Pokémon Master: These are the best Pokémon cards
Trainer cards are the core of any Pokémon deck. They allow you to change the conditions of the game so that you can gain an advantage, or at least get yourself into a better tactical position.
When choosing Trainer cards, think about how you can set yourself up for future turns. If your deck focuses on Fennekins final evolution, Delphox, then youll want to move that card into an active position as soon as possible. Trainer cards will help you achieve this.
You want at least twenty Trainer cards in your deck, but wed generally recommend having more. After all, they act like little cheats for you to unveil when you need them most.

Three: Make Sure You Can Get The Cards You Need
Trainer cards are arguably the most important parts of a deck. It is not unheard of for a deck to have more Trainer cards than Pokémon or Energy combined. They are incredibly versatile, not only helping players find the cards they need, but also acting as offensive or defensive cards when necessary. Players have Item, Supporter and Stadium cards to choose from within the Trainer category. To choose Trainer cards, players should think about the Pokémon they’ve chosen for their deck. Consider what these Pokémon need to be successful and how Trainer cards can protect these Pokémon or attack an opponent.
Continuing with the example from above, if players need to rely on Single Strike Energy for their deck to work, the Urn of Vitality from Battle Styles allows players to retrieve Single Strike Energy from their discard pile. That way, players can keep recycling Single Strike Energy cards as necessary. Houndoom can then use its ability to search the newly-replenished deck for those Single Strike Energy cards.

Pick A Solid Main Attacker
Not all Pokémon are suitable to be a decks main attacker. To qualify, your main attacker absolutely needs to have these two traits: Firstly, it must be able to set up quickly and, secondly, it needs to do a lot of damage
What does it mean to set up quickly? It means you need to be able to start attacking as soon as possible, and that depends largely on the energy cost of your Pokémon’s attacks. Compare Kommo-o’s energy costs to Gardevoirs. Even with double colorless energy, the best you can hope to set up Kommo-o’s attacks would be three turns. However, with Gardevoir, you’re ready to go turn one.

Stick To The Current Sets
As with any other trading card game, the Pokémon TCG has changed a lot since it was released in the ’90s. Back then, Charizard was by far one of the best cards, having 120HP, the maximum amount at the time. Now there’s Snorlax Vmax, with an absurd 340HP. Not only that, but there’s been the addition of special cards, like EX, GX, and the newest, Vmax.

Not only would it be impractical to try and use cards from older sets against the behemoths, but you wouldn’t be able to participate in tournaments. If that’s not an issue for you, then go for it. But even in casual play, you’ll find it hard to persuade most people to battle. Besides, you won’t get to try out the more interesting new mechanics that have been introduced in the most recent sets.

Utilize A Unique Status Ailment

“Burn” is the newest special condition out of all the status ailments that can be inflicted upon foes in the TCG. It acts like Poison in that it consistently chips away at the afflicted Pokemon’s HP every turn until healed, though it does 20 HP worth of damage per turn instead of Poison’s 10 HP damage-over-time.

How To Heal Burns
The way to heal a Burn is by flipping a coin after taking damage and getting heads. Otherwise, a trainer can use a trainer card like Full Heal instead. While not particularly dangerous to foes with a lot of HP, unevolved Pokemon and those resistant to regular damage from fire attacks can be weakened or knocked out passively from a Burn, making it a useful secondary strategy.

How To Construct A Proper Pokemon Deck
Are you tired of getting pawned by other people in the Pokemon TCG? Well this Instructable will instruct you in the ways of building at the least a decent Deck. Things you will need, -Pokemon Cards – -Energy Pokemon Cards – and -Trainer/Supporter Cards – Okay, once you have at the least 20 of each kind of card, you will be ready to construct your deck.
Four: Keep Your Eye On The Prize
Players may be surprised to realize they dont need to include many Energy cards in their deck as a default. However, its better not to reduce Energy amounts too much in a beginner deck, as they are necessary for play. It may be best to focus on mastering one specific mechanic, such as the Energy retrieval outlined above, before truly honing the scope of a deck.
Furthermore, players need to keep in mind that six of their cards will initially be kept face-down as Prizes. While constructing any deck, players need to account for the possibility that certain cards may be unavailable. As such, beginner decks shouldnt try to be too complicated and should include enough duplicates.

What Are Energy Cards In Pokmon Tcg
Energy cards are essential in any Pokémon TCG deck. They allow you to use your Pokémons attacks, deal damage to opponents, and ultimately claim prize cards to win.
Most Pokémon cards will have attacks, which carry a specificed energy cost. Count the total energy costs of your cards in Delphoxs case, you need fire energy and add the necessary energy to your deck.Since you lose energy when your Pokémon are knocked out, make sure to include a few extra energy cards, so that you can always find them in your deck.
Building Your Deck Around Specific Pokmon
Let’s take a look atanother approach to deckbuildingfocusing the strategy on one or two specific Pokémonrather than a type. The amount and type of Energy required for a Pokémon toattack varies, and you have to figure out how you’ll get the Pokémon into play, too. Not surprisingly, this means the decks themselves can vary wildly in thenature and spread of Pokémon, Trainer cards, and Energy cards. Fortunately, there are a few steps that deck builders can follow to make any Pokémon shine. Let’suse Polteageist from the Sword& ShieldDarkness Ablaze expansion as an example in our next deck.

Remember when wementioned that most decks have about 1216 Pokémon? This one has 26, taking up nearlyhalf the deck, and only eight Energy! The guidelines are always justthatguidelinesand you should always be ready to boldly diverge from them whenthe time comes.

Look For Cards You Don’t Have
You don’t need to go buy a whole booster box trying to collect every card you’re missing. There are websites where you can see every card in a series. Take a look at them. Read the card text. Learn what’s new in each set, and see if you can find interesting strategies in those cards. Then, once you’ve decided on what cards you want to have, you can either go out and buy packs and hope you get what you want, or you can directly purchase them online.
If the cards you’re looking for are common or uncommon, you’ll have pretty good luck just buying packs. That way you’ll probably get the cards you want, as well as have a chance at some good rares. Or you can do what many players do and directly buy the cards online.
