Kangaskhan Garchomp And Nidoking
Giovanni’s second Pokemon pick in July 2021 can be either a Kangaskhan, Garchomp, or Nidoking. Of the three, Kangaskhan’s Fighting-vulnerability is the easiest to counter, as players should already be bringing a Fighting-type to deal with Persian. Garchomp is a little more complicated, a Dragon/Ground-type with a weakness to Dragon, Fairy, and a major weakness to Ice. The final possibility, Nidoking, is also weak to Ice, along with Ground, Psychic, and Water.
This combo of weaknesses means that the smartest third pick to defeat Giovanni in Pokemon GO is an Ice-type:

Team Go Rocket Details
Team GO Rocket are an offshoot of the Team Rocket from the main series games. In Pokémon GO, Team GO Rocket will appear at PokéStops at times. When a PokéStop is darker blue and the cube on it is spinning, that means a member of Team GO Rocket is there. When you spin the stop, they will appear and challenge you.
The battles are standard Trainer Battles, but you have to use a team while they use two Pokémon at CP of around 2200-2500 and a final one of CP around 3200 for Great League, 3300-3500 for the first two and ~4500 for the final one for Ultra League and exceeeding that with Master League and higher making the battle very tough.
How Often Can You Fight Giovanni In Pokmon Go
Every calendar month, you’ll receive a new Giovanni Special Research task, which will become available at midnight on the first day of every month.
This will give you a Super Rocket Radar, giving a reliable way of battling Giovanni at least once a month, with the possibility of being able to catch a different legendary Shadow Pokémon.
If you finished Looming in the Shadows, however, in a month other than November 2019, then you will automatically skip to that month’s Giovanni Special Research quest, unable to complete any of the other quests that came in-between.
As well as from monthly quests, as long as you have a Super Rocket Radar in your inventory, you can fight Giovanni at any time. It has been a reward in several additional quests, so they might be worth saving until a month where the Shadow Pokémon reward available is one you want to stock up on.
The Season of Mischief is here!Current events, include Season 9 of the Go Battle League, the addition of Raid Achievements and the Misunderstood Mischief research quest. Shiny Ditto can also now be found in the wild and this tricky Pokémon is now appearing as new creatures!Meanwhile, the last major update saw a level cap increase – including the addition of XL Candy, boosts to some XP sources and the addition of Platinum Medals.

How To Beat Giovanni In July 2021
UPDATE: Giovannis team was changed this month. We have updated this guide with the new counters.
The Team GO Rocket Boss Giovanni doesnt change his team often but Pokémon GO players who didnt fight him last month may be surprised in July 2021. Thats because hes switched to Shadow Ho-Oh, but all fo the usual tips still apply. Just like with the Team GO Rocket Leaders, you should try to burn off his two shields as quickly as possible. And with this comes the tip to always put your actual first Pokémon in the second or third position and switch to them as soon as you can. This causes a delay in Giovannis attacks, as does using a Charged Attack against him. Use this to power up your counters as listed below.

Best Giovanni Counters For Pokemon Go In July 2021
As with each of the major trainer battles in Pokemon Go, your fight with Giovanni will last for three rounds. He always uses the same first and last Pokemon, but there are three options he might choose from in that second stage in the middle. This is what you can expect to go up against, and what Pokemon types youll want in each round:
Looking at those Pokemon listed together, a few patterns emerge which could help you put your battle party together. Wed recommend bringing a powerful Fighting-type Pokemon like Machamp or Lucario , a powerful Water-type Pokemon like Blastoise or Kyogre , and a Fairy or Ice-type to deal with Garchomp.
Have a Rock or Ice attack one lined up for the end such as a Manectric or Hippowdon.
Its also handy to know that if Giovanni defeats you once, you can demand a rematch at the same location and he will send out the same team again which will help you prepare better. See our full thoughts below!
Persian And Shadow Ho
Giovanni brings three Pokemon to the fight in July 2021, two of which are guaranteed. The first guaranteed Pokemon is Persian, a Normal-type cat Pokemon with access to Dark moves. Like all Normal-types, Persian is extremely weak to Fighting Moves. Therefore, trainers should make sure to bring a strong Fighting-type:
Best Persian Counters
- Blaziken – Counter, Focus Blast
- Conkeldurr – Counter, Dynamic Punch
The other guaranteed Pokemon used by Giovanni in July is his Shadow Ho-Oh, which he will put out last. As a Shadow Pokemon controlled by a NPC trainer, Giovanni’s Ho-Oh is a glass cannon. This means getting the right type matchup is essential. Ho-Oh is a Fire/Flying-type, making it weak to Electric and Water, and extremely weak to Rock.
- Golem – Rock Throw, Rock Wrecker
- Rhyperior – Smack Down, Rock Wrecker
- Tyranitar – Smack Down, Rock Slide
- Electivire – Thunder Shock, Wild Charge
- Omastar – Rock Throw, Water Pump

How Do You Defeat Giovanni In ‘pokmon Go’
Just like the three other Team Rocket leaders in-game, Giovanni can use Protect Shields, which means that not only does he possess stronger Pokémon, but he will absorb two of your charged attacks. Giovanni always starts with Persian, but he might use one of three different Pokémon for his second choice, and his final Pokémon will be Suicune.
His Persian is a Normal-type Pokémon that can use any of the following type moves: Normal, Dark, Fairy, and Rock. This means the Persian is best countered with Fighting-type moves. That being said, this will be the weakest of Giovanni’s Pokémon, so try to use any super-strong moves sparingly.
Giovanni’s second Pokémon will be one of three: Kangaskhan, Nidoking, or Garchomp. Kangaskhan is a Normal-type like Persian, so Fighting-type moves against it will work well. Nidoking is a Poison/Ground-type Pokémon, so counter with Water or Psychic-type moves. And Garchomp could be a bit of a problem as a Dragon/Ground-type Pokémon, but an Ice-type Pokémon should clear that problem up nicely.
This month, Giovanni will have Shadow Zapdos in his grasp! If you havent already, complete the latest Team GO Rocket Special Research to earn a Super Rocket Radar and track down Giovanni!

How To Find And Beat Giovanni In Pokmon Go August 2020
Prepare your team wisely.
As anyone who has dealt with Team Rocket could have predicted, Giovanni is the one giving out commands for Team GO Rocket in Pokémon Go.
And with all of the Rocket Balloons floating above the overworld, you should prepare yourself for a clash against the big boss and his rotation of powerful Shadow Pokémon.
As always, you can still encounter Giovanni by completing the special GO Rocket themed monthly Timed-Research that Professor Willow assigns, but now you can find him in balloons too. That research, titled A Shadowy Threat Grows, is part of a larger set of tasks that you will need to complete before battling the boss.
Following the completion of both the Troubling Situation and A Professors Work is Never Done Special Research, players will receive a Super Rocket Radar, which is needed to locate Giovanni.
After going into your bag and equipping the Super Rocket Radar, you will be pointed to the location of GO Rockets boss. Several Rocket Grunts have disguised themselves as Giovanni to throw you off his trail, however.
You will need to visit captured PokéStops to weed out the fakes and discover the real Giovanni and take him on in battle. And, if you have the Super Rocket Radar equipped, he might also spawn in a Rocket Balloon, though the decoys can also spawn in them too.
His next Pokémon will be one of three Ground-type options, with two being much stronger than the other option.
- Garchomp: Ground/Dragon-type

Pokemon Go Giovanni July : How To Defeat
| Jul 7, 2021
Pokemon GO’s Team GO Rocket Boss Giovanni is a difficult opponent to battle in the game. With Shadow Ho-Oh on his team, players have to strategize and plan how to beat this Team GO Rocket Boss. Here’s everything you need to know about beating Giovanni in July 2021.
Players should locate Giovanni on their Super Rocket Radar, which can be obtained through Special and Timed Research tasks. If you don’t have a Super Rocket Radar, you can gain one through finishing A Seven-Colored Shadow Special Research task.
After obtaining the radar, you can turn it on and look into the Team GO Rocket PokeStops around your vicinity. Trainers can inevitably find him through this process, but you can also check the Super Rocket Radar to find the PokeStops that he might be located in.

Is Your Super Rocket Radar Not Working
The start of a new month usually means Pokémon GO players get a new chance to fight Giovanni. But September 2021 seems a little different. Actually its very different, and in a lot of new and interesting ways. But with so many players ready and waiting for a new Shadow Legendary to catch and no news in sight, many are wondering where is Giovanni and how to fight him in Pokémon GO for September 2021.
Whats Next For Giovanni
Giovanni seems to be following a pattern with the Shadow Legendary Pokemon that he has.
He has already ticked off Kantos Legendary Bird trio of Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres, as well as Mewtwo.
Hes also had Johtos three Legendary Dogs, Entei, Suicune and Raikou, as well as most recently, Shadow Ho-Oh. If this pattern is to continue, in Giovannis next appearance, hell have a Shadow Lugia with him, a Pokemon which will likely be very difficult to take down.
Be sure to stay tuned to DualShockers when the Rocket Boss resurfaces as well have all the information youll need to go toe to toe with him.

The Other Leaders Of Team Go Rocket
While Giovanni cannot be battled, the same can’t be said for Team GO Rocket’s other leaders. Sierra, Cliff, and Arlo are all still able to be fought after players assemble a normal Rocket Radar. This can be accomplished by defeating normal Team GO Rocket Grunts.
After getting a Rocket Radar, players will have the chance to encounter one of the normal leaders via Rocket Balloons and occupied PokeStops. These trainers are far stronger than any of the Team GO Rocket Grunts, giving players much more of a challenge.
