The rules have been relaxed during the COVID-19 era , but going outside is still generally the point.

Unfortunately, the game provides little guidance on the nuances of catching, collecting, and evolving Pokemonthere’s barely a tutorial. If you’re just starting out, see How to Get Started and Catch ‘Em All for a primer on what every icon means, how to capture Pokemon, and other basics.

The following advanced tips and tricks go one step further to help you truly master Pokemon Go, use it to enhance your other Pokemon adventures on consoles, and maybe, just maybe, put you in the mood for the upcoming Pokemon Sleep.

The actual cost of Pokemon Go trading is quite a complex thing. Every trade will cost you Stardust, and that price will depend on a number of factors: whether you’ve already caught the Pokemon yourself, your friendship level with the player you’re about to trade with, and the Pokemon you’re actually trading – Standard vs Special trades.

It seems like the Stardust Pokemon Go trading cost is about as follows :

Trainers should note that Legendary Pokémon, Shiny Pokémon or Pokemon that are not currently in their Pokedex require a special trade. They also require more Stardust than usual.

These kinds of trades can only happen once a day, so it is important to bear that in mind if there are many Pokemon of that nature to be traded.

POKEMON GO – HOW TO TRADE POKEMON

It’s an egg that’s lucky! Really, it’s filled with happiness and most importantly, grants you double the amount of experience points you can gain for 30 minutes at a time. You can only buy these in the Shop, with Coins. If you’ve got a couple Pokemon you’re almost ready to evolve, save up those candies until you’ve got a Lucky Egg, then evolve them all one after another while the Lucky Egg’s dank XP aura is in the air to double down on that extra CP and XP.

Special Trades And Limitations

  • Pokémon not already in your Pokédex
  • Legendary Pokémon
  • Pokémon with forms not already in your Pokédex
  • Trading is only available for Trainers that are Level 10 or above.
  • Certain Pokémon cannot be traded. Mythical Pokémon and Pokémon that have previously been traded once before cannot be traded.

How To Trade In Pokmon Go And Trading Requirements

Before you can start trading, you need to fulfill the following requirements:

  • Be Pokémon Go Friends with the person you are trading with
  • Have a Trainer Level of 10 or above
  • Be within close physical proximity

From there, go to your Friends feed, and select the Friend you want to Trade with. The option to Trade will be next to ‘Send Gift’, below the XP bar.

Provided you are within 100m, you can then select a Pokémon to trade, check the Pokémon you’ll receive and the Stardust cost before confirming. Then, you trade, with the process taking just a few seconds.

The following also needs to be taken into consideration when it comes to trading:

  • Trades will give each player additional Candy, with more Candy rewarded if the two Pokémon were caught far away from another. According to Reddit, this is 1 Candy for below 30km, 2 Candy for 30-100km, 3 Candy for above 100km.
  • The HP and CP of each Pokémon will vary once the Trade is completed – it could be higher or lower. The better the Friendship Level, the less variation will be. You’ll be able to see this before the trade, and there will be safeguards in place to stop powerful Pokémon going to players with a much lower Trainer level.

Complete Research Tasks To Gain Bonuses

Field research tasks are essentially a list of quests given to you when you spin a Pokestop, like, “Use 5 Berries to help catch Pokemon,” or, “Catch 10 Pokemon with Weather Boost.” Completing them successfully gives you various bonuses including Stardust, items, and encounters with rare Pokemon like Jynx. There are currently three kinds of tasks:

  • Field Research: These are basic goals with a single objective. You get one of these a day and they’re usually something simple like spinning a Pokestop.

  • Special Research: These tasks are more story-based and give you multiple goals that require several steps to complete, like catching and transferring a Pokemon.

  • Research Breakthrough: These tasks are based on collecting stamps and give you rewards like Stardust, items, and rare Pokemon encounters.

  • You can only have up to three tasks at a time, but don’t worry, you can trash a task if you think you can’t complete it successfully. Clearing a task allows you to pick up a new one.

Add Trainers To Your Friends List

Interacting with other players in Pokémon Go often requires you to add them to your friends list, and this is no different when it comes to trading. Depending on the level of friendship that you have with the player you are trading with, you may receive extra bonuses, such as the opportunity to have the traded Pokémon become Lucky, which will allow it to grow much faster. Adding friends requires access to your Trainer Code, which can be found by accessing the Friends section of the character menu, then tapping Add Friend.

Unfortunately for players, Pokémon Go only allows friends within 100 meters to trade with one another, though this distance is occasionally lengthened during specific events.

Why Should I Care About The Max Trade Distance In Pokemon Go

Simply put, as mentioned above, if youre outside the allowed range, you wont be able to trade at all.

As you can imagine, that makes this maximum trade distance quite important for anyone who wants to be doing any trading whatsoever in Pokemon Go. And even if youre not that bothered about trading usually, youll probably want to use it to clear some research tasks at some point.

And remember, trading can also be used to reduce the Candy cost of some evolutions down to zero.

    Evolve That Eevee Rename It

If you remember the original Pokemon cartoon, you may recall the three Eevee Brothers, who each owned one of Eevee’s evolutions: a Flareon, Jolteon, and Vaporeon. If you nickname your Eevee one of the brothers’ punny names, then it will evolve into your desired evolution! Want a Flareon? Then name it Pyro. Want a Jolteon? Name it Sparky! Jonesing for a Vaporeon? Then call it Rainer. This may not work all the time, however it’s an almost-guaranteed way to evolve one of your Eevees, but this weird method may not work 100 percent of the time.

How To Trade Pokmon In Pokmon Go

Trading has always been a significant part of Pokémon. In core games, you simply cannot “catch ’em all” without trading. But, it’s the way you trade Pokémon in Pokémon Go especially Legendary, Mythical, Shiny, perfect, and new Pokédex entries that’s so interesting… and expensive. What does that mean? Read on!

How Trade Evolution Works In Pokmon Go

    Pokemon GO

Trade evolution! You love to see it. This feature has been part of the mainline Pokémon games for years, but its only now just coming to Pokémon GO. Basically, youve got to remember that the original purpose of the Pokémon games was to find a good use case for the Game Boy link cable, and to that end the franchise has always encouraged trading in any way it can. Thats why certain Pokémon only evolve when theyre traded between two trainers, ensuring that catching them all requires either two people or one person with two Game Boys. But that was then and this is now, so lets talk about Trade evolution in Pokémon GO.

Trading does not seem to be required for evolving any Pokémon in these games, as per the Pokémon Blog. So if you want to do it the traditional way, by saving up 100 candies, you can still do that. What trade evolution does, instead, is negate the candy cost for evolving a certain Pokémon if you receive that Pokémon in a trade. So if you receive a Machoke in a trade, you can evolve it to a Machamp for free.

Here are the Pokemon that currently benefit from trade evolution:

    • Kadabra
    • Karrablast
    • Shelmet

Luckily, the old methods still work, so the anti-social can still benefit. And the tradeable Pokémon only require 25 candies to get to where they need to be, so random people at raids might still be willing to help you out.

Trading Tips: How to Maximize Candy Gains from Trading ...

Trading is a gameplay feature in Pokémon Go that enables trainers who are close on the map to trade Pokémon with each other.

This key feature also provides you with some pretty useful benefits, too. So if you want to arrange a Pokémon trade with a friend, make sure that you are standing no more than 100 meters apart from each other in real life.

Both trainers are required to use Stardust. A couple of other requirements to note: you mustreach trainer level 10 in order to trade and add at least one person as a friend to start.

Keep in mind another restriction before starting to trade: you cannot trade certain types of Pokémon, including Mythical Pokémon and Pokémon that have previously been traded before.
