Field Research And Special Research
In addition to catching Pokemon, Pokemon Go has missions to complete called Research tasks. There are two main types of tasks: Field Research and Special Research.
Special Research stories involve completing tasks to help Professor Willow investigate mysterious Pokemon.
Field Research tasks are one-off challenges that are primarily distributed at PokeStops. You’ll receive one random task when you spin a photo disc, and completing it will net you a reward, which can range from an item to a Pokemon encounter.
In addition to a reward, you’ll earn a stamp for the first Field Research task you complete each day. Once you’ve amassed seven stamps, you’ll achieve a Research Breakthrough. This will net you additional rewards, including a chance to catch a special Pokemon. The Research Breakthrough encounter changes each month.
Special Research tasks, on the other hand, are Pokemon Go’s “story” missions. These are introduced by a brief message from Professor Willow and typically come in multiple stages. Each stage you complete will net you various rewards, and completing the entire research line typically culminates in a chance to catch a special, rare Pokemon.

Transfer Your Pokmon For Candies
As each player can only carry 300 Pokémon, you want them to be powerful and valuable to your team. So, after you have captured a Pokémon and got the Stardust and Candy, you can transfer him or her to the professor for Candy of that Pokémon variety.
For example, if you already have 20 Pikachu, you can probably swap some for Candy to power up or evolve the rest.

And now, you can see the silhouettes of Pokémon at the nearby landmarks, which you can tap for an overhead view, showing you where you should head toward. The Pokémon should be within a block or two of that particular landmark.

Connect And Battle With Your Friends
Once youve reached level 10, you can battle other Pokémon Trainers in local or remote play. Local battling requires you to scan the QR code at the bottom of the Battle screen to connect with another Trainer. Remote battles, on the other hand, can only be initiated by selecting the friend that you wish to challenge from your Friend List and tapping the Battle icon.
A quick tip: if youve enabled Facebook access, you can also add friends who have done the same. You can add up to 200 people.

Shadow Pokémon all have the same charged move known as Frustration. You cannot overwrite Frustration unless you purify your Pokémon or change the move with a TM during special events .
The advantages of keeping a Shadow version are how hard the fast attacks hit compared to the regular Pokémon version and inherently having a potentially higher CP and IV. The downside is they take more damage due to having lower defense scaling. If you have high IV Shadow Pokémon and legendaries, do not purify your Pokémon, chances are, it will be stronger than the regular versions. Remember that you can save your TMs to remove the Frustration when those special events go live .

How To Join A Gym Team And Battle Other Players
When you reach level five and visit a Gym, you’ll be asked to join one of three color-coded teams: Instinct , Mystic , or Valor . They’re color-coded based on the original U.S. titles Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue, and Pokémon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition.
Unlike Nintendo’s games, the team you choose doesn’t affect the type of Pokémon you come across in the wild, but it does matter for Gym battles. After picking a team, you’ll join millions of other players around the world each team will work together to become the most successful. As with Niantic’s previous title, Ingress, teams can turn Pokémon Go from a single-player experience to a group sport.
Teams are how you join up with your friends to make a dent on the world. You and your team will take over and level up Gyms when you possess a gym, you get Pokécoins and Stardust, which can help you level up and evolve your Pokémon.
Much like PokéStops, Gyms are actual landmarks out in the world, and they are where all Pokémon battles happen. You can claim them for your team, or help level up a Gym already claimed for your team to build up its prestige. Trainers can take over an unoccupied Gym and claim it for the Instinct, Mystic, or Valor team. If your team’s color is in control of a Gym, you can train your Pokémon inside, one at a time. If a Gym is held by an opposing team, you’ll need to battle the Pokémon standing guard to lower its prestige and have a chance of taking it over.

What’s The Deal With Eggs And Incubators
As you move through the world collecting items from PokéStops, you might just luck out and pick up an Poké Egg. These eggs will eventually become Pokémon in their own right, but they need a little bit of incubation and a lot of steps to make that happen.
When you pick up an egg, you need to place it in an incubator to get the hatching process going. You start the game with a single, unlimited-use incubator, but you can purchase more if you want to hatch several eggs at once.
Once the egg is incubated, you’ll need to physically travel a certain distance before the egg will hatch. Depending on the rarity of the Poké Egg you’ve found, that could be as little as 2 kilometers, or up to 10 kilometers.
What’s more, you can’t move more than 10.5 km/h for Pokémon Go to register all your movement. Any faster and it will flag you as driving . The game also determines your movement over a straight line from point A to point B and then calculating the distance, so you can’t put your device on a record player or tape it to a ceiling fan.
There’s a lot more to it than that, of course, and there are a few ways to hatch faster…
Curveball Throws And Berries
Although a simple straight throw will be enough to catch many common Pokemon, you’ll have better luck capturing monsters by pulling off curveball throws. Spin the Poke Ball in a circle a few times, then swipe upward at an angle to curve your throw. This will further increase your odds of capturing the monster if you’re able to hit it.
Feeding the wild Pokemon a berry will also boost your chances of catching it. Berries come in several varieties. Razz Berries, for example, make a Pokemon easier to catch, while Nanab Berries make the Pokemon move around less — helpful for catching jittery monsters like Zubat. However, berry effects don’t stack you can only use one berry at a time, and if the Pokemon manages to break out of the ball, the berry’s effect will be nullified, so you’ll need to use another one.
