Does Ash Ever Become A Pokemon Master

The Trend Of Rivals Facing Off In The Conference

How do you become a Pokemon Master?

That set off a trend the Pokémon anime followed from there on out: Ash would meet a rival, compete against them until they reached the Pokémon League, then confront them again there. That rival in Hoenn was Tyson, who would go on to win the League, providing a narrative where Ash just couldn’t overcome his rival.

In Sinnoh, at the Lily of the Valley Conference, Ash competed against several rivals in the finals, such as Conway, Barry and Nando, but the rival fight everyone knew would be the highlight of the League Championship was Ash vs. Paul. Paul remains one of Ash’s fiercest rivals, but, in a downright epic final battle, Ash beat him and, at last, got closer than he ever has to reaching his dreams of being a Pokémon Master… only to face Tobias.

To many fans, Tobias represents the universe’s desire to keep Ash from ever winning any competition. Tobias beat Ash’s team of six Pokémon with only two, but those were the legendary Pokémon Darkrai and Latios. Tobias is an absurdly powerful trainer who, to the shock of no one, became a Pokémon Master. That trend continued with with the next two leagues.

Is Giovanni Ash’s Dad

RELATED: Pokemon Anime Teases a Legendary Pokemon Could Join Ash and Co. … More specifically, that Team Rocket’s President Giovanni is actually Ash’s father, and that he hired the bumbling trio of Jessie, James, and Meowth, to perpetually fail to “steal Pikachu” in an indirect attempt to keep watch over his son.

The Problem With Evaluating Ash

In a vacuum, Ash looks like a chump next to any competitive Pokémon trainer. But after a deep examination of the differences between the games and the anime, its clear how unfair that comparison is.

After all, competitive Pokémon operates in an idealized version of the animes world. Trainers have access to any Pokémon at any time and can whip them into fighting shape mere hours after hatching. There is also a deeply interconnected community that regularly exchanges information about best practices based on a cumulatively staggering number of Pokémon battles.

Ash, on the other hand, only has access to the Pokémon around him as he goes on his adventure. He certainly doesnt have the time nor means to breed Pokémon in search of the perfect specimen. He can also forget about using legendary Pokémon, which real life trainers use all the time because of their generally superior strength. In Ashs world, there are only a handful of each legendary Pokémon, if that. Theyre not available for use.

Also, despite the prevalence of video phones and advanced technology in Ashs world, there doesnt seem to be anything equivalent to the internet. If there is, Ash certainly doesnt use it to bone up on the latest competitive Pokémon trends.

Ash Did Win Once Before Then Kept Losing After That

That led to the Orange Island League, where Ash traveled across the Orange Islands for competitions that eventually led him to face off against the Orange League champion, Drake. In a final bid for victory, Ash’s Pikachu, of all Pokémon, took down Drake’s Dragonite, which led to Ash winning the Orange League Championship.

But when Ash returned home to celebrate, he ran into Gary, who had also grown far stronger as a trainer following the Indigo League. The two set off to challenge one another in the Johto League, which led to Ash and Gary separately earning all of the badges in this new league, one after the other, until they finally faced off in the Silver Conference.

Ash defeated Gary, but lost against new trainer Harrison, who, in turn, lost to the champion, Jon Dickson.

Fans Are Celebrating Ash Ketchum Becoming A Pokmon Master

Do you think Ash will ever become a pokémon master?

Gavin Evans is a contributor for Complex Media.

After more than 20 years of futile efforts, Pokémon trainer Ash Ketchum can finally clear his animated mantle full of participation trophies to make room for one of the 1st place variety. And while you may be wondering why you should care about a cartoon character’s fictitious accomplishment, that’s probably just the cynical real-world repressing that bit of childlike wonder you still have somewhere in your overworked and beaten down adult body.

Anyway, Ash is now able to make the claim of being a Pokémon Master after winning the championship at the Aloha League during the latest episode of Pokémon the Series: Sun and Moon. This ‘W’ now gives the franchise’s red-and-white hatted main character what he’s always wanted, and is also a long payoff for a guy who was able to invest 22 years of his life into fulfilling his dream because he never actually seems to age. CNET points out that Ash did previously win at Orange Islands League and Battle Frontier.

So far the winning episode has only reached the air in Japan, but that doesn’t matter to a number of Twitter users who appear to be too overjoyed by this news/plotline to contain their excitement:

Dragged Pikachu Around With A Rope

On the day that he was meant to start his Pokémon journey, Ash overslept. Not only is that a great indication of just how little he actually cares about his “dream” of becoming a Pokémon Master, it also means that he didn’t get one of the standard starters. Instead, he wound up with a Pikachu, a relatively obscure monster from the games whose eventual popularity among kids saw him becoming the mascot for the whole franchise.

But it’s pointless to have a popular, cute, and incredibly marketable mascot without actually having him on the screen, and since most Pokémon travel around in Pokéballs which keeps them off screen until it’s time for Ash to fumble through another battle the creators of the anime made the decision to keep Ash’s Pikachu out of the ball and in front of kids’ eyeballs. And they also made the decision to have Ash himself be real friggin’ salty about it.

In the first episode, after Pikachu refuses to be crammed into a Pokéball, Ash puts on a pair of rubber gloves and literally drags Pikachu down the road while berating him about not being “nice.” Even worse? His entire reasoning for Pikachu to get into the ball in the first place is that he’s “just like all Pokémon, and should act like it.” Cramming your pet into a carrier for their own safety is something a lot of people have had to deal with, but telling your “friend” that he’s nothing special just to make your life slightly more convenient? That’s just cruel.

Another Ash Ketchum Reboot

It’s likely that Ash Ketchum is about to fulfill his dreams of becoming a Pokémon Master, so why not start over with a new Ash? The Pokémon movies have already used the concept of an Ash reboot. Pikachu and Team Rocket were still around, but there are new characters present in the story who join Ash on his adventures.

A full Pokémon anime reboot seems like a smart idea, as it would attract both the old fans who watched the series back in the ’90s and the new ones who explored the Kanto region in the Let’s Go games. This series could bring back Brock and Misty as main characters again and could show Ash traveling to the Galar region once he’s done with Kanto, as he only spent limited time in Galar in the original series.

Ash wore a loose short-sleeved shirt with white and blue stripes, brown Capri pants with red outlines, baggy pockets and red folded sleeves at the edge, and blue sneakers. His cap was red, dark blue, and gray, and the Poké Ball design was white. Ash also kept a silver Z-Ring on his left wrist, which was later upgraded into a black Z-Power Ring. Unlike in previous regions, Ash didn’t wear fingerless gloves while he was in Alola.

As a member of the Ultra Guardians, Ash wears an indigo and white uniform with light periwinkle accents as the edge of the short sleeves, collar and inlines of his uniform are black. He wears matching indigo gloves.

In “A Young Royal Flame Ignites!“, while teaming up with Professor Kukui disguised as Masked Royal and Ash Royal, he goes shirtless but retains his capris and sneakers from his primary outfit and dons a red flame designed wrestling mask with green and light blue with blue designs at the back of his mask. The wrestling mask was given by Kukui before they teamed up together at the Battle Royal.

Ash’s sided spike hair has decreased a bit and are rounder, his eyebrows and his spike hair tuft is shorter than usually seen in previously. When he is not wearing his hat, his hair remains the same only more smoother and shorter.

Ash’s two lighting bolts-like markings are slightly bigger.

After Two Decades Ash Has Finally Become The Pokmon League Champion

Ash Ketchum has finally become the Pokémon League Champion.

The Pokémon Company, Nintendo

It took Ash Ketchum a while but after 22 years, he has finally made it and become the Pokémon League Champion in the Alolan region.

In the climactic fight with Gladion in a recent episode of the Sun and Moon anime, Ash has finally emerged victorious as the Pokémon League Champion.

Naturally, Ashs disbelief at his success is understandable considering his long history of failure in the Pokémon League.

However, as we are receiving an all-new Pokémon anime sometime in the future and one that covers all the regions in the series, it seems that this is meant as a nice send-off to this version of Ash.

In case you are wondering, the final battle of the Alolan league featured Ash working alongside Melmetal, Lycanroc and Pikachu against Gladions Silvally, Zoroark, and Lycanroc .

For those that have been following the Sun and Moon anime, its actually been pretty great throughout. From the references to things like G Gundam as well as Team Rocket beating Ash and Pikachu, the show runners have clearly been having a lot of fun with the series.

How Pokmon Training Works Outside The Anime

Its easy to look down on Ashs performance. After all, he has lost so many Pokémon league tournaments that even The Pokémon Company International dedicated an entire article to his failures.

The comparison is even more bleak when stacked against competitive Pokémon trainers, who use every ounce of the communitys accumulated knowledge to reach skill levels that would blow the minds of the animes characters.

But before delving into that body of knowledge, its important to distinguish the two kinds of competitive Pokémon, which are very different.

The first is the competitive singles community, which pits teams of six Pokémon in battles just like you see in the games, with one Pokémon on the field at a time. These players mostly congregate at Smogon.com, a community and resource for Pokémon that groups monsters into tiers based on their usage in online battles. By dividing Pokémon up in this way, its easy to see who some of the lesser-used monsters can viably compete against, letting trainers know when they can actually use their weaker, but beloved, Pokémon.

Smogons tiers are unofficial, but they are the most widely recognized. The site also holds frequent leagues and tournaments that have their own specialized rules for trainers to test their mettle.

Gotta Win ’em All After More Than 20 Years Ash Ketchum Is Finally Being Considered A Pokemon Master

I wanna be the very best, like no one ever was!

When young Ash Ketchum first left Pallet Town in 1997 with a recalcitrant Pikachu from Professor Oak at his side, he had one goal on his mind: to become a Pokémon Master. After more than two decades of chasing that dream in the anime television series of the multimedia franchise, Ash finally secured the title as well as a shiny trophy for himself after winning a league championship, ComicBook.com confirmed.

The current iteration of the show takes place in the Aloa Region, a chain of tropical islands based on those that make up the state of Hawaii. As more than a few folks online have pointed out, Ash did technically win the Orange League during the ’90s-era run of the TV program, but according to pop culture outlets like Kotaku, “that tournament wasnt really up to typical League standards.”

Of course, many fans had to voice their excitement via Twitter. Even Veronica Taylor, the original American voice of Ash, took to social media in order to congratulate the trainer on his historic victory. To many OG fans, Taylor is and always will be the voice of the character.

Pokémon trainer Ash Ketchum has finally become the very best, like no one ever was.

After kicking off his journey to become a Pokémon Master way back in 1997, Ash has won the Regional Pokémon League in the Pokémon Sun & Moon run of the anime series.

This is the first time hes won the main tournament in the anime, with the latest episode aired in Japan seeing Ash triumph over Gladion to win the Alola Region Pokémon League.

Ash has previously won tournaments like the Orange Island Challenge and Battle Frontier, but they arent as prestigious as the traditional regional competitions which he has failed to win countless times across the show.

The news has unsurprisingly caused much jubilance across the community, with Veronica Taylor, who voiced the original English version of Ash in the animes first eight seasons, even writing a commemorative post.

Posting on Twitter, Veronica wrote: Congratulations to Ash Ketchum on winning the Pokémon League from Ashs younger self, circa 1998 yup, hard work, determination, good friends, and a bit of luck pay off!
